“If I play in the PL now in a top team, I’ll still score the same (goals)” – Cristiano Ronaldo makes bold claim in new Piers Morgan interview

Cristiano Ronaldo has boldly claimed that he would have scored the same number of goals in the Premier League last season as he did in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr. The Portuguese superstar believes he still has what it takes to lead the attack of a top English side, despite being 40 years old.

Speaking to Piers Morgan, Ronaldo emphasized that he has been proving year after year that he can consistently score goals. The former Manchester United forward insisted that his impressive numbers are not merely a product of playing in the Saudi Pro League. He added that if he had top players supporting him on the pitch in the Premier League, he would have managed the same goal tally.

He said:
“Ah! Excuse. Yeah, excuses. It’s the most simple way. For everything, excuses, excuses, excuses. Year by year, year by year, I score more. Even in a bad year, I scored 25 goals. If I played the Premier League, now in a top team, I will score the same! If I had a good team, at 40 years old, I will score the same. I don’t need to speak because they can say whatever they want, but the numbers, they don’t lie.”

Ronaldo also addressed critics who downplay his achievements in the Saudi Pro League.
“They can’t say Saudi league. They have never been here, they never play here. They don’t know what [it is like] to run in 40 degrees [temperature]. They don’t know. And I still continue and I repeat the Saudi League, the Saudi league, it’s much, much better than Portuguese League, of course. French league is only PSG. Premier League is good, of course, is the number one.”

Last season, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 25 goals in the Saudi Pro League, in addition to a further 10 goals in the AFC Champions League and the Saudi Super Cup.

### Cristiano Ronaldo Wants More Respect for the Saudi Pro League

Ronaldo also expressed frustration about the Saudi Pro League goals being downplayed by France Football in their Ballon d’Or considerations. He said ignoring these goals is a mistake.

“It’s easier for me to score in Spain than in Saudi Arabia,” he explained.
“And they should count, even they should count, like the goals to be the top scorer, the Golden Ball [Ballon d’Or]. Why? They don’t count Saudi league. Why? Look how many top players we have in a league. Check! Ask the other players if the league is good, don’t ask me because it’s easy to ask me, I’m always saying that ‘Ah, Cristiano saying that because he play in Saudi’. No, no. I play everywhere. Everywhere. For me, it’s more easy to score in Spain than to score in Saudi.”

To put his achievements into perspective, Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 matches for Real Madrid. Since joining Al-Nassr in 2022, he has impressively netted 102 goals in 115 matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to defy age and expectations, proving that his goal-scoring prowess remains as potent as ever.
