Predator: Badlands Has A Stranger Things Cameo Only Hardcore Fans Noticed

**Predator: Badlands – A Recap and a Surprising Cameo You Might Have Missed**

*Contains minor spoilers for “Predator: Badlands.”*

To fully appreciate *Predator: Badlands*, ideally you’d be familiar with both the *Predator* and *Alien* franchises. The story centers on Dek (played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), a Yautja warrior who ventures to a perilous world to prove himself to his father. Along this dangerous journey, Dek receives unexpected assistance from a Weyland-Yutani synthetic named Thia (portrayed by Elle Fanning).

From the first trailer, the connection to the *Alien* universe was clear, which led fans to hope for more *Alien* references—perhaps even the appearance of a Xenomorph. Unfortunately, a third *Alien vs. Predator* movie isn’t on the horizon just yet. However, there is an intriguing, subtle Easter egg: a brief voiceover cameo that many viewers likely missed.

### The Duffers’ Unexpected Cameo

Fans of *Stranger Things* might be surprised to learn that the creators of the show, Matt and Ross Duffer, lend their voices in *Predator: Badlands*. The cast list is quite small, and when the final credits roll, the Duffer brothers are credited as the voice of Kwei’s (Mike Homik) computer ship. Kwei is the character who sends Dek on his mission to the world of Genna to kill the Kalisk, a task meant to help Dek prove himself to their father—an endeavor that ultimately costs Kwei his life.

Since Matt and Ross Duffer are not actors by profession, their voices are not easily recognizable. Adding to this, they speak in Yautja, the language of the Predator species, which further disguises the cameo. Nonetheless, this fun Easter egg has a meaningful backstory that connects to the production.

### Behind the Scenes Connection

The involvement of the Duffer brothers in *Predator: Badlands* isn’t just a random choice. It stems from a longstanding relationship between director Dan Trachtenberg and the Duffers. Trachtenberg was originally slated to direct an episode of *Stranger Things* Season 5, titled “The Turnbow Trap.”

However, when *Predator: Badlands* was greenlit, Trachtenberg had to pivot immediately from directing *Predator: Killer of Killers* into *Badlands*, leaving no room in his schedule for *Stranger Things*. Speaking to Dexerto, Trachtenberg revealed that the overlap in post-production schedules made the cameo possible.

> “They were doing their mix of *Stranger Things*, as we were finishing our mix for *Badlands,*” Trachtenberg explained. “And I just thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to have you guys cameo in the movie?’ And they were, like, super awesome about it.”

### A Missed Opportunity and a Worthy Role

With *Stranger Things* Season 5 marking the show’s final season, Trachtenberg’s chance to work on the hit Netflix series won’t come around again. It’s a shame, as his talent for crafting thrilling action sequences would have been a great fit for the world of Hawkins.

Still, serving as the overseer of the *Predator* franchise is no small feat and a remarkable opportunity in its own right. For fans curious about how Trachtenberg’s *Predator* films stack up in the overall franchise, [click here to find out more](#).

Whether you’re a longtime fan of the *Predator* series or just diving into *Badlands*, be sure to keep an ear out for that subtle voice cameo—it’s a neat reminder of the connections behind the scenes and the collaborative spirit that helps bring these stories to life.

EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar–Anees Bazmee reunite for madcap love triangle – a reimagined Sankranthiki Vasthunam; to go on floors in February 2026

**Anees Bazmee and Akshay Kumar Reunite for a Reimagined Version of *Sankranthiki Vasthunam***

After delivering blockbuster hits like *Welcome* and *Singh Is Kinng*, Anees Bazmee and Akshay Kumar are teaming up once again. Reliable sources have confirmed that the duo’s next project will be a reimagined version of the Venkatesh-led Telugu film *Sankranthiki Vasthunam*. Produced by Dil Raju, the upcoming film is being touted as an out-and-out comic entertainer.

According to a source close to Bollywood Hungama, “Anees and Akshay loved the plot of the lead character stuck between his wife and ex-girlfriend that *Sankranthiki Vasthunam* revolves around. However, the original film had a strong Telugu flavor. To make the story more relatable for the Hindi-speaking audience, Anees Bazmee is reimagining the film while keeping the core plot intact.”

The source added, “Anees is a master at creating fresh screenplays based on already established films. This project will be not only bigger than the original but also funnier, as Anees plans to incorporate several new gags into the narrative, which were absent in the original. Over the past three decades, Bazmee has excelled in writing love triangles with a comedic touch, and this film fits perfectly into his style of situational comedy.”

Currently, the writing process is underway in full swing. The makers aim to start filming the untitled project in February 2026. Importantly, the film is not a remake but rather a reimagined take on the original. The screenplay will blend new scenes with existing elements to create a fresh cinematic experience.

“It’s about 60% fresh sequences and 40% original content to preserve the essence of the plot,” the source revealed.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting comic venture from Anees Bazmee and Akshay Kumar!

The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 ending explained: Was the plane crash really a sabotage?

The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 continues the conspiratorial action thriller set in the Alaskan wilderness. While one enemy is still running free, another one, called the “Angel of Death,” threatens Fairbanks, as the town is already engulfed in darkness.

The series has been laden with more questions than answers since the plane crash in the premiere episode. In episode 6, as Frank pieces together evidence, one of the key conspiracies is confirmed—the plane crash was an act of sabotage designed to kill Havlock and every inmate aboard. No one was supposed to survive.

The co-pilot’s testimony and Sidney’s confession reveal that there is a much bigger betrayal at play. Despite his flaws, Havlock may be running around just searching for answers.

Disclaimer: This article contains major spoilers for The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6. Reader discretion is advised.

Was the Plane Crash Premeditated?

Much of the series so far has focused on the aftermath of the plane crash in the premiere episode, especially how it allowed dangerous inmates to break out and wreak havoc in the town. However, episode 6 delves deeper into the cause of the crash, revealing that it was no accident.

The Last Frontier season 1 episode 6 confirms the crash was premeditated—a targeted assassination attempt on Havlock (aka Levi). Everyone on the plane was deemed expendable.

The co-pilot, who survived both the crash and the Angel of Death’s clutches, confirms they lost control of the plane while it was still ascending. Everything was corrupted, and they had no control over the aircraft.

Moreover, the hard drive Hutch retrieved in episode 5 contains the malware used to disable the plane’s systems. The episode also confirms that the courier Havlock plans to meet in Fairbanks—who was believed to be delivering Archive 6—is actually a killer sent to assassinate him.

Sidney’s Connection to the Plane Crash

While Sidney is not directly connected to the JPAT aircraft crash, something she created was used to bring down the plane.

In her confession during episode 6, Sidney reveals she once developed malware capable of simulating a random air disaster. Originally, it was designed for an untraceable hit on a Chinese diplomat.

She told Frank that the project was shelved, only for the malware to be revived and used in the sabotage of Havlock’s plane. What frustrates her most is that the CIA’s original plan appears to be killing Havlock while framing her for the incident.

This possibility remains a threat, especially now that the FBI has possession of the drive containing the malware. With the co-pilot as a surviving witness, they have the evidence needed to pin the entire scheme on Sidney.

One interesting moment in episode 6 is Havlock’s lingering uncertainty about both the crash and Sidney’s involvement. An altercation with the courier reveals Havlock questioning how much Sidney knows about the crash, or even if she knows anything at all.

Who is the ‘Angel of Death’?

Episode 6 introduces the “Angel of Death,” aka Dr. William Wigg. His nickname fittingly reflects his sinister nature—a gifted doctor but also a sociopath and serial killer.

It’s revealed that he poisoned 36 patients and coworkers. Though his original motive remains unclear, his unsettling storyline in episode 6 centers around using the co-pilot as a bargaining chip to secure a safe deposit box.

Inside the box are Polaroids of his victims, including the son of the bank manager who delivers the deposit box—his first victim.

While Dr. Wigg tries to placate the woman with false apologies, it turns out she knows exactly who he is and what he did to her son. She came prepared and ultimately shoots him dead before boarding the plane.

Iconic TV Show Ending After 50 Years

Japan’s iconic superhero series **Super Sentai**, which inspired the popular *Power Rangers* franchise, is ending after 50 years on the air. According to local media reports, the decision to end *Super Sentai* comes as merchandise sales and event proceeds have failed to cover production costs. Broadcaster TV Asahi declined to comment on future programming when approached by MANTANWEB.

*Super Sentai* premiered in 1975 and follows five teenagers who transform into masked fighters to battle aliens. The team typically consists of three men and two women, led by a hero in a red suit—a formula familiar to *Power Rangers* fans. The remaining team members are color-coded, featuring green, black, blue, yellow, and pink fighters.

The show’s martial arts sequences and live-action action made *Super Sentai* an iconic series in Japan. It went on to inspire the U.S. *Power Rangers* series, which debuted in 1993 under the direction of Israeli-American entrepreneur Haim Saban. The *Power Rangers* franchise has since launched countless spinoffs and become a significant part of pop culture.

Reflecting on the inspiration for *Power Rangers*, Saban shared in a 2017 interview with the *Los Angeles Times*:
*“I’m laying in bed in my hotel room in Japan. At the time there was no Netflix, no cable, no nothing — just three channels playing game shows. All of a sudden, there were these five kids in spandex fighting monsters. Don’t ask me why, but I fell in love. It was so campy!”*

Motivated to reimagine the series for a U.S. audience, Saban initially found *Power Rangers* a tough concept to sell:
*“Every selling season, I would go out and offer it to the networks and would get kicked out of the room,”* he recalled. *“They told me how crazy I was.”*

It wasn’t until after Saban Entertainment’s first hit with the 1992 *X-Men* animated series that attitudes began to shift. Former Fox Kids President Margaret Loesch told Saban she was looking for something “quirky and different, with comedy and action” that would appeal to boys—paving the way for *Power Rangers*’ success.

As *Super Sentai* comes to an end, its legacy lives on through the franchise it inspired and the generations of fans who grew up watching these colorful, heroic teams battle evil.

Thamma director Aditya Sarpotdar defends use of item songs: “They’re marketing assets, but my story unfolds through them”

Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, currently basking in the success of his latest release *Thamma*, has addressed the ongoing criticism surrounding the film’s inclusion of three item songs: “Poison Baby,” “Tum Mere Na Huye,” and “Dilbar Ki Aankhon Ka.”

The director, who earlier delivered the horror-comedy hit *Munjya* within the same universe, spoke openly about the debate in an interview with SCREEN. He explained his creative reasoning and how such songs serve a functional role in modern storytelling and marketing.

### Thamma Director Aditya Sarpotdar Defends Use of Item Songs:
**“They’re marketing assets, but my story unfolds through them.”**

Reacting to the backlash, Sarpotdar stated, “All these things are marketing assets that lead you into a film. What counts is what the film gives you in the end. For me, when these songs appear, they’re there because my story unfolds through them.”

The filmmaker emphasized that the tracks are not inserted merely for glamour but are woven into the narrative to enhance its rhythm and emotional beats.

The discussion around *Thamma*’s music gained traction after audiences questioned the need for three distinct item songs in a horror-comedy. Addressing the criticism head-on, Sarpotdar pointed out that audience perception seems to have shifted in recent times.

“This is the same audience that loved ‘Taras’ in *Munjya* and ‘Aaj Ki Raat.’ Nobody had a problem then. But now, suddenly, it’s an issue. Maybe it’s just happening more often, so people are reacting differently,” he remarked.

*Thamma*, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, marks the first love story set within the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe—an interconnected cinematic world that includes *Stree*, *Bhediya*, and *Munjya*.

Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the film continues to perform steadily at the box office, drawing audiences for its blend of romance, supernatural intrigue, and quirky humour.

Aditya Sarpotdar’s response reflects a broader conversation about how item songs are evolving in contemporary cinema—from being standalone entertainment numbers to narrative devices and powerful promotional tools.

As he puts it, what truly matters is the story that remains long after the music fades. With *Thamma*, Sarpotdar once again proves that commercial appeal and storytelling can coexist, even if it means defending a few catchy beats along the way.

Peak explores The Roots update today

**Peak’s Latest Free Update: The Roots Brings a Thrilling New Biome and Exciting Challenges**

Indie studios Aggro Crab and Landfall have seen surprising success with their game, Peak. As more groups of friends dive in to tackle its harrowing climbs, the developers have released the game’s latest free update, **The Roots**.

This update introduces a brand-new biome inspired by the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest. While Peak’s core gameplay still revolves around climbing, players now find themselves scaling towering trees within this lush, sprawling forest. Climbing these trees presents a unique challenge regardless of party size.

Adding to the tension are giant insects roaming the forest, including massive spiders that can cocoon players in webs and drop them from great heights, leading to potentially perilous falls. Players will need to stay alert and work together to survive these new threats.

The update also adds native mushrooms scattered throughout The Roots biome. Players can choose to consume these mushrooms, but beware—doing so carries risks, including the possibility of turning into a zombie-like state.

In addition to the new biome and creatures, **The Roots** update brings tweaks to Peak’s cooking system. It’s now possible to place non-food items over the fire and observe mysterious effects. The developers haven’t revealed what these effects are, encouraging players to experiment and discover secrets on their own.

Moreover, players can now cook berries to remove their poison, making them safe to eat. However, this cooking method does not work on mushrooms—so handle those fungi with caution while exploring the forest.

For the complete list of changes and updates, be sure to check out the full patch notes available on Steam.

Get ready to climb, survive, and discover all-new dangers in Peak’s thrilling Roots update!
