Latinos Shift Back To Democrats In Tuesday’s Election Without Trump On Ballot

The post Latinos Shift Back To Democrats In Tuesday’s Electicom. Topline Latino voters overwhelmingly broke for Democratic gubernatorial candidates in Tuesday’s election, indicating President Donald Trump’s gains with the demographic in the 2024 election may be eroding. New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) (C) celebrates with lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Dale Caldwell (R) after their win during an election night watch party at the Hilton East Brunswick Hotel on November 4, 2025 in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Both Democratic candidates in Tuesday’s gubernatorial races, former Rep. Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and Rep. Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey, won Latinos by 2-1 margins, according to NPR, citing exit polls. Sherrill won in the three New Jersey counties with the largest Latino populations-she carried Passaic by 15 points (Trump won by three points in 2024), she won Hudson County by 50 points (Harris won by 28) and she won Cumberland by four points, equal to Trump’s win there in 2024, according to NBC. Sherrill won all 10 New Jersey counties where one in five people are Latino, and she flipped three Trump won, NPR reported. The trend in New Jersey marks a notable shift away from Trump, who gained ground last year in all 29 New Jersey townships with a majority Hispanic population, which swung in Trump’s favor by an average of 25 points in 2024 compared to the 2020 election, The New York Times noted. In Manassas Park, Virginia, where Latinos make up 46% of the population, Spanberger outperformed Harris’ 2024 showing by 22 points, Associated.

‘Terrified’: Jasmine Crockett believes she has Trump on the ropes — and he’s panicking

President Donald Trump’s frequent attacks on Rep. Jasmine Crockett (R-TX) reflect his growing fear of the Democratic lawmaker at least according to Crockett whose clashes with right-wing media and lawmakers have helped propel her onto the national stage.“I process [attacks from Trump and right-wing media] as they believe that I’m a threat,” Crockett told Politico. “Listen, you’re not talking about anybody who’s not relevant. That’s just the reality. No one is wasting capital on anyone that is not relevant.”While Trump is known for frequently lashing out at Democratic lawmakers, Crockett has been among the most frequent targets for his attacks. He’s called her a “lowlife,” a “very low-IQ person,” and compared her unfavorably to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY), “only slightly dumber.”But for Crockett, Trump’s attacks are an admission that he saw her as a growing threat, and one he lashed out at frequently as a means to “thwart before they rise too much.”“I think that personally they are threatened. When you look at AOC, AOC is the highest-fundraising member in the U. S. House, period. Above Democrats, Republicans, that is number one,” Crockett said.“When you look at the crowds that she garners, when she goes out, that’s a scary thing for him, right? And a lot of the people that I believe that he wants to appeal to, AOC is one of the few people that can actually break through. I would argue that as much as I go against him, I would imagine that I get some of those folk too.”For her part, Crockett has not held back in returning jabs at Trump. After being called a “low IQ person,” Crockett fired back by noting that Trump “sure [does] have my name in your mouth a lot,” and that his attacks were proof that he was “terrified of smart, bold Black women telling the truth and holding you accountable.”.

‘Republicans should be embarrassed’: Ex-Trump official rips GOP for losing shutdown fight

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer took aim at Senate Republicans after Democrats blocked a bill that would have guaranteed pay for military and federal workers during the ongoing government shutdown.“Senate Republicans should be embarrassed by how bad they’re messaging this,” Spicer, who served as Trump’s first press secretary, said Friday on his podcast, in remarks highlighted by The Daily Beast.“They should have been out on the steps last night with military members and Border Patrol,” Spicer said. The measure, known as the Shutdown Fairness Act of 2025, was introduced by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance, with a final tally of 54-45. It would have ensured continued pay for “excepted” federal employees, including active-duty troops, TSA agents, park rangers, air traffic controllers and Border Patrol officers. Spicer accused Republicans of failing to defend their position forcefully, calling their actions “literally the lamest response” he had ever seen.“The idea that they voted and bolted is an embarrassment to the Republican Party,” he added. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) dismissed the bill as a “ruse,” arguing it would give Trump budget director Russell Vought undue authority.“We will not give Donald Trump a license to play politics with people’s livelihoods,” Schumer said.
