Snapchat Sees Strong Momentum in India’s Creator Ecosystem
Social media platform Snapchat announced on Friday that it has gained significant traction within India’s creator ecosystem. Over the past two years, the total time spent watching content on Snapchat in India has doubled, highlighting the platform’s strong connection with young audiences across the country.
This impressive performance is driven by a surge in content engagement, rapid growth in new content creation, and an expanding community of Snap stars—the platform’s premier creators. According to Snapchat, the number of official Snap stars in India has increased by 1.5 times over the last two years, reflecting the rising demand for authentic, creator-led content.
Additionally, content posted to Snapchat’s Spotlight feature by creators and publishers has experienced more than four times year-over-year growth. This cements Snapchat’s position as a central hub for creativity and storytelling in India.
The announcement coincides with the launch of Snapchat Creator Connect, a multi-city initiative aimed at empowering Gen Z storytellers across the country. Recognizing the importance of North Indian creators to India’s vibrant creator ecosystem, Delhi was the latest city to host the event, showcasing strong adoption in the region and Snapchat’s expanding footprint nationwide.
“India has been at the centre of our global creator strategy, not just as one of our fastest-growing markets, but also as one of the biggest contributors to global content creation on Snapchat. These milestones are the result of deliberate, sustained efforts to build an inclusive and thriving creator ecosystem,” said Saket Jha Saurabh, Director and Head of Content and AR Partnerships at Snap Inc.
“That’s why we’ve invested in initiatives like ‘Snapchat Creator Connect’, reaching creators beyond metros and into the heart of India, ensuring that diverse talent has access to opportunities and tools to grow,” he added.
During the Creator Connect event in Delhi, Snapchat brought together leading creators, Snap stars, and industry stakeholders. The program featured Snap School, an education and mentorship initiative designed to help creators refine their storytelling skills and maximize growth on the platform. Discussions on monetization opportunities were also held, aiming to support creators in building sustainable careers.
