A brand new method has been discovered in *Pokémon Legends: Arceus* (Z-A) that lets players clone shiny Pokémon by exploiting a glitch. While this trick currently works, there is a strong chance it will be patched out soon. Austin John Plays shared these findings in a new video today.
If you plan on using Pokémon Home, it’s recommended to not keep both cloned Pokémon. Instead, hold on to one and trade the other. This is because if you trade one and keep the other, they are not treated as clones. Pokémon Home has a clone check system that detects duplicated Pokémon.
### Steps for the Shiny Pokémon Duplication Glitch in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
1. Get the shiny Pokémon to aggro and lead it far away.
2. Move it away until it immediately drops aggro. This happens when the Pokémon enters its programmed “return to spawn” state, going in a straight line back to its original location.
3. Save the game. This saves the Pokémon’s current location but does not save its return path to the original spot.
4. Turn the game off, then turn it back on.
5. Upon loading, you will see the shiny Pokémon. Move outside the spawn/despawn distance.
6. Save the game, quit, and load back up.
7. When you start back up, you should see the shiny Pokémon. Return to the original location from the beginning, and you’ll find a duplicate there.
Both Pokémon should be exactly the same, sharing identical Nature, IVs, stats, and more.
If these steps sound complicated, don’t worry—Austin John Plays provides a full example of the glitch in action in his video, which you can check out [here](#).
*Pokémon Legends: Arceus* is available on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED. This week, it was announced that the game has sold 5.8 million copies worldwide.
