LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Quarterback Lunch Winfield accounted for five touchdowns and 241 total yards as Louisiana-Lafayette secured a thrilling 42-39 victory over Texas State on Saturday night.
Winfield was a dual-threat on the field, throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for two more. Despite the impressive performance, he did face some challenges, including two interceptions during the game. He completed 192 passing yards and added significant yardage on the ground, helping his team maintain momentum.
Louisiana-Lafayette’s explosive second quarter proved to be the deciding factor in the closely contested matchup, allowing them to hold off Texas State in the final moments.
