At former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s election night party, independent journalist Michael Tracey captured a candid moment that reflected the frustrations of some of Cuomo’s supporters. In a video recorded at the event, one supporter bluntly told Curtis Sliwa, “Hey Curtis, you’re a fucking scumbag like I said all along. You split the fucking vote.”
This unnamed “Cuomosexual” was not alone in expressing such sentiments. Former Republican Congressman and pardoned fraudster George Santos voiced similar criticisms, highlighting the divisive nature of the election.
Throughout both the primary and general elections, Cuomo appeared unable to move beyond a simple strategy: pointing at his opponents and questioning his supporters’ willingness to vote for them. His campaign seemed to hinge on the idea that “all he had to do to win was point at the other candidates and say, ‘You’re really going to vote for them?’”
