The Patriots kicked off Week 11 by extending their winning streak to eight games with a 27-14 home victory. Running back TreVeyon Henderson was a standout performer, scoring three touchdowns. The Patriots’ defense also played a crucial role, forcing a turnover on downs at the two-minute warning to seal the win.
With this eighth consecutive win, the Patriots improve to 9-2 and remain firmly in control of the AFC West. Henderson, a rookie, has made the most of expanded opportunities in the absence of Rhamondre Stevenson. The second-round pick finished the game with 19 carries for 62 yards and added five receptions for 31 yards. One of his touchdowns came on a pass from quarterback Drake Maye, who continues to make a splash in his second NFL season.
Maye, a current MVP favorite, completed 25 of 34 passes for 281 yards, further establishing his breakout status. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs led the receiving corps with nine catches for 105 yards.
The Jets stayed competitive well into the fourth quarter, trailing 24-14 when they forced a punt with 7:29 remaining. However, their hopes of an upset faded quickly when Justin Fields mishandled a low snap, allowing Patriots linebacker Anfernee Jennings to recover the ball on the Jets’ 11-yard line.
Though the Jets managed to force a field goal and moved the ball on their next drive, the sense of urgency was lacking. Even a crucial fourth-down pass to tight end Jeremy Ruckert was broken up by defensive back Dell Pettus, effectively ending their comeback bid.
Fields had a mixed performance, rushing 11 times for 67 yards and a touchdown while completing 15 of 26 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown through the air. The passing touchdown went to recent acquisition John Metchie. Meanwhile, fellow newcomer Adonai Mitchell struggled, dropping two potential catches in his first game with the team.
Coming into this game, the Jets had won two straight. They will now use the upcoming mini-bye to prepare for a Week 12 trip to Baltimore. The Patriots, meanwhile, will hit the road as they look to continue their winning streak with a matchup against Cincinnati. A nine-game winning streak in one season would be their first since 2017.
