Diablo 4: Can you play in split-screen?

Diablo 4 is a very popular co-op game, but can you split-screen? What could be better than sitting down on the couch with a friend or loved one, and smashing through hordes of demons and the undead in D4? This Season in particular has been a good one, and likely saw quite a few players return for it. Unfortunately, if you’re looking specifically for split-screen co-op in Diablo 4, the answer is a very firm “no”. While that may not be what people want to hear, there is still a solution for playing together in-person, provided you’re playing on console. Steps to play split-screen co-op in Diablo 4 While you can’t play split-screen co-op in Diablo 4, you can couch co-op, provided you’re playing on console. Sadly, PC players don’t get access to this feature, and while it has been known to have issues on console, it is still an option that’s available to you, should you really have a hankering to play together in person. Technically, all you need to do is have Diablo 4 installed on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, and have two controllers. There are a few restrictions to keep in mind though, before you commit. Each player needs to have a PSN/Xbox Live account, though both players do not need to own D4 to play couch co-op. If your partner doesn’t own the game, they won’t be able to use any of your characters either, so they’ll be starting fresh. What this means for you is that you’ll likely be starting a new character with them. In order to group it with someone who had already established a character, they have to at least clear the prologue of D4, at least on the Seasonal servers. The good news is if that person you were going to split-screen with has D4, and they’ve linked their Battle. net to their PSN, it’s a simple matter of logging in, and picking the character they want to use. You won’t split-screen though. If someone gets too far away, the other player will teleport to them. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s the closest we’re going to get, if that’s your preference.
