**Minneapolis Mayoral Race Results to Be Finalized Wednesday; Incumbent Jacob Frey Holds Lead**
*By Brianna Kelly | November 4, 2025 | Bring Me The News*
As Election Day comes to a close, the final results of the Minneapolis mayoral race are not expected to be called until Wednesday at the earliest. Incumbent Mayor Jacob Frey currently leads his challengers by at least 10%.
Frey secured 41.76% of first-choice votes, followed by progressive challenger and state senator Omar Fateh, who received 31.72% of the vote. While Fateh could still overtake Frey once second- and third-choice votes are counted under the city’s ranked-choice voting system, Frey remains the comfortable favorite as vote counting enters its second day.
Speaking at his election night party, Frey remarked, “Everybody, this city showed up once again.”

**Note on Ranked-Choice Voting**
Minneapolis utilizes ranked-choice voting in its mayoral elections, allowing voters to rank candidates by preference. This system means that if no candidate garners a majority of first-choice votes, second- and third-choice votes are tallied until a candidate achieves a majority.

**Community Reactions**
Some community members expressed concern about the closeness of the race. One commenter noted, “The fact it’s so close is cause for alarm. And a wake up call.”
