Star safety for the Atlanta Falcons, Jessie Bates III, has been fined by the NFL for an unsafe play during the Week 16 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The league announced on Saturday that Bates was fined $17,389 for unnecessary roughness due to a hit on a defenseless player. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter with 4:50 remaining on the clock.
No other players from either team were fined following the game.
The Falcons, holding a 6-9 record, defeated the Cardinals (3-12) with a final score of 26-19 last Sunday.
