International Networks Snap Up BBC’s Ozzy Osbourne Documentary

EXCLUSIVE: A host of international networks will air the BBC documentary about the late Ozzy Osbourne. Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home followed Ozzy and wife Sharon as they upped sticks and moved from Los Angeles back to a family home in the UK. The factual film also took in Ozzy’s preparations for his ‘Back To The Beginning’ mega-concert and showed the rockstar tackling health issues as he battled to be ready for the gig. Osbourne died in late July, aged 76, two weeks after performing at that homecoming concert. The doc was produced by Expectation with JOKS Productions and went out on BBC One in early October. Banijay Rights is handling international sales and has already secured a U. S. deal, with NBCU’s Peacock picking it up, as we were first to report last month. The North America picture is now complete after CTV and Crave owner Bell Media took Canadian rights. The other new buyers are Australian public broadcaster ABC, the TV2 network in Denmark, VRT in Belgium and yesTV in Israel. Cathy Payne, CEO Banijay Rights, said: “Providing a deep insight into the closing act of Ozzy Osbourne’s life, this poignant film has already made a huge impact worldwide. It’s an honour for us at Banijay Rights to share Ozzy, Sharon and the family’s story with even more international broadcasters.” Deadline previously went behind the scenes of the making of the doc, and exec producer Rachael Barnes told us the team captured Ozzy at a moment when he was happy to open up and talk about his life. “He’s a great raconteur, he tells amazing stories, but he was also very reflective,” she said. “It was not just nostalgia, but there was a sense of him trying to understand his personal values at this stage of life and where he would feel most at home.”.
