Plane Forced to Land After Passenger Makes Bomb Threat

A plane flying from Dallas to Chicago made an emergency landing in St. Louis after a passenger alerted the flight crew about a bomb in his wife’s luggage, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Sunday morning.

The United Airlines flight departed from Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport shortly before 7 a.m. However, it landed unexpectedly at Lambert St. Louis International Airport at around 8:40 a.m. Upon landing, the flight crew evacuated all passengers so that bomb and arson units could conduct a thorough search of the plane.

The passenger who raised the alarm, an unidentified male, is currently in custody. According to Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, the airport’s director, no passengers have reported any injuries.

As of around 11 a.m. local time, bomb and arson crews were still searching the aircraft. Newsweek reached out to Lambert St. Louis International Airport via email on Sunday morning for further information.
