By JOHN COON SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Nick DeSimone scored the tiebreaking goal 7: 32 into the third period and the Utah Mammoth beat the scuffling New York Rangers 3-2 on Saturday night to snap a four-game losing streak. JJ Peterka and Clayton Keller also scored for the Mammoth, who overcame a 2-1 deficit in their seventh comeback victory this season. Karel Vejmelka made 20 saves. Vladislav Gavrikov and Artemi Panarin scored for the Rangers, who have lost four consecutive games all in regulation and three by one goal. They finished 0-3 on their Western Conference road swing. Jonathan Quick stopped 31 shots in a terrific performance for New York. DeSimone scored unassisted off a deflection for his second goal this season and first game-winner. Utah struck first on Peterka’s goal at the 10: 08 of the first period. Peterka poked in the puck with his stick from behind Quick’s skate. Gavrikov tied it at 15: 19 when Adam Fox’s pass redirected off the shaft of his stick. Panarin gave the Rangers the lead at 8: 07 of the second when he scored on a breakaway, with the puck squeezing through Vejmelka and dribbling across the goal line after he initially made the stop. Keller pulled the Mammoth even following a takeaway by Kailer Yamamoto, snapping the puck over Quick from close range at 11: 15. DeSimone fired a slap shot off the shin pad of a Rangers player to put Utah ahead. Up next Rangers: Host the St. Louis Blues on Monday night. Mammoth: Host the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday night. ___.

Antetokounmpo scores 15 of his 30 points in fourth quarter and Bucks edge Mavericks 116-114
DALLAS (AP) — Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 15 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter, and Ryan Rollins put Milwaukee ahead for good with a driving layup with 17.9 seconds left, as the Bucks rallied from a 13-point deficit early in the period to beat the Dallas Mavericks 116-114 on Monday night.
Kyle Kuzma added a season-high 26 points off the bench for Milwaukee, closing the game with a dunk with 14 seconds remaining after stealing a Dallas inbound pass when intended recipient Cooper Flagg slipped just beyond the 3-point line.
The Mavericks had a chance to tie the game, down 116-113, when P.J. Washington Jr. was fouled on a desperation 3-pointer by Antetokounmpo with 1.2 seconds left. After Washington missed his second free throw, his intentional miss on the third shot was tipped by Dallas’ Moussa Cisse but grabbed by Milwaukee’s Bobby Portis Jr.
Flagg, last summer’s No. 1 draft pick, led the Mavericks with a season-high 26 points. Brandon Williams added 19 points in his first start of the season.
After Washington’s missed free throw bounced off the front rim, much of the Dallas crowd broke into a final version of the “Fire Nico” chant, directed at general manager Nico Harrison.
Antetokounmpo entered the game leading the NBA, averaging 33.8 points and 19.2 two-point shots per game. He took only four field goals in the first half, all in the second period, finishing with 18 total field-goal attempts and hitting one of two 3-pointers.
Dallas’ Anthony Davis missed his sixth consecutive game with a strained left calf. Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said Davis is making progress. The Mavericks also played their eighth straight game without Dereck Lively II, sidelined with a right knee sprain.

Fortaleza vs Gremio Prediction and Betting Tips | November 9th 2025
Fortaleza will be looking to begin their surge from the relegation zone when they host Gremio in round 33 of the Brasileiro Serie A on Sunday.
Gremio have failed to win their last five visits to the Arena Castelao since October 2019 and will be aiming to end this dry spell this weekend.
Fortaleza were involved in a share of the spoils for a third consecutive game on Friday, playing out a 1-1 draw with Ceara after conceding a gut-wrenching 90th-minute equalizer. With that result, Martin Palermo’s men have failed to win five of their last six outings (2 losses, 3 draws), although they remain unbeaten in their most recent four games, securing three draws and one win.
The team has picked up 29 points from their 31 Serie A matches so far and currently sits 19th in the standings—just above rock-bottom Sport Recife and five points adrift of safety.
Meanwhile, Gremio continue to struggle for results in the bottom half of the table, having fallen to a 1-0 home defeat to Cruzeiro on Thursday. Mano Menezes’ side have lost all but one of their last four league matches, with a 3-1 victory over 10-man Juventude on October 26 being the lone exception.
With 39 points from 32 matches, Gremio currently occupies 14th place in the league table, level on points with 13th-placed Ceara. A win this weekend could see them move level with 10th-placed Vasco da Gama.
### Fortaleza vs Gremio Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
Gremio holds the upper hand in the history of this fixture, winning seven of the last 17 meetings between the two sides. Fortaleza has picked up four wins in that time, while six matches have ended in draws.
However, Fortaleza is unbeaten in their last five home games against Gremio, recording three wins and two draws since a 2-0 loss in May 2012.
Gremio has failed to win their last four away matches since the start of October, including losses in their most recent three games on the road.
### Fortaleza vs Gremio Prediction
Time is running out for Fortaleza to salvage their season as they continue to blow hot and cold at the wrong end of the table. Gremio’s poor form on the road leaves a lot to be desired, and we back Fortaleza to extend their solid home record in this fixture.
**Prediction: Fortaleza 2-1 Gremio**
### Fortaleza vs Gremio Betting Tips
– **Tip 1: Result** – Fortaleza to win
– **Tip 2: Over 4.5 cards No**
(There have been fewer than five bookings in seven of the last nine meetings between these two teams.)
– **Tip 3: Over 10.5 corners Yes**
(There have been at least 11 corner kicks in eight of their last 10 clashes.)

Nebraska volleyball dominates Illinois for 14th straight sweep
Nebraska (23-0, 13-0) continued their dominant November with a home stand against Illinois (12-10, 7-6) on Thursday night. The Huskers delivered another sweep, overpowering the Fighting Illini in straight sets (25-11, 25-15, 25-14) to secure their 14th consecutive sweep and extend their streak to 43 straight set wins.
The Huskers started strong, finishing the opening set with an impressive .714 attack percentage while holding Illinois to a mere .111. Although the Fighting Illini attempted to mount a comeback in the second and third sets—putting up early resistance in both—the Huskers quickly quelled any momentum and cruised to victory. Nebraska finished the night with 49 kills on 86 attacks, boasting an overall .488 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Nebraska posted 40 digs and seven blocks, limiting Illinois to a .095 hitting percentage. Andi Jackson led the charge with a perfect 9-for-9 in attacks and contributed four blocks. Virginia Adriano and Harper Murray each added eight kills, while Teraya Sigler finished with 6-of-12 attacks and a service ace. Taylor Landfair and Skyler Pierce combined for eight kills on 13 attacks, each contributing four kills. Additionally, Allie Sczech, Rebekah Allick, and Manaia Ogbechie each provided three kills in the win.
Bergen Reilly led Nebraska in both assists and blocks, tallying 29 assists and five blocks, while also recording seven digs. Laney Choboy had a standout performance with a career-high 20 digs alongside two service aces.
Looking ahead, the Huskers will hit the road for their next series of matches starting with a Saturday afternoon battle at Minnesota. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT and will be available to watch on Peacock.

“The pressure has always been so great and high”: Kalen DeBoer refuses to step back from Alabama’s terrific run in SEC ahead of LSU faceoff
Kalen DeBoer has put all the critics to bed, especially those who doubted him after Alabama’s loss in the season opener against FSU. The program has seen an exponential rise overall, with Alabama performing exceptionally well on both offense and defense. Currently, the team stands at 7-1 with an undefeated 5-0 record in the SEC. Their next challenge comes this weekend against LSU.
The veteran head coach recently appeared on the Triple Option podcast, joining an elite panel hosted by Urban Meyer. During the podcast, DeBoer provided an inside look at how the team overcame early criticism and doubts by maintaining focus on each weekly game.
Despite Alabama’s unbeaten streak since Week 2, DeBoer emphasized that he has no intention of resting or becoming complacent. His primary goal remains making the playoffs and contending for the national title.
“I’m not gonna let myself get comfortable,” DeBoer told Rob Stone, Urban Meyer, and Mark Ingram on the Triple Option Podcast. “I think that’s the way you’ve got to just keep attacking it, and that’s the way it’s always been. The pressure you put on yourself, that I’ve put on myself, has always been so great and so high.”
DeBoer also spoke about how well his family has settled in Tuscaloosa and how the passionate support from fans keeps him motivated.
“I love living here, though. My family loves it, and it’s fun when what you’re really passionate about is a priority and really important to the university, the people, your alumni. Getting texts from Mark (Ingram) and other alumni saying they’re proud means the world to me because that’s what I do,” he added.
### Kalen DeBoer Gets Real About LSU Faceoff in Week 10
This weekend’s matchup against LSU comes with unique challenges. The Tigers will enter the game without Brian Kelly calling plays, a situation that could make them vulnerable against a highly stable Alabama squad. However, DeBoer remains cautious and refuses to underestimate LSU’s ability to compete against ranked opponents.
“We’ve just got to do what we’ve been doing, and that’s focusing on us and focusing on what we are and improving the areas we can. We’ll be ready to adjust to whatever comes our way,” DeBoer said during his recent SEC appearance.
With the SEC being one of the most competitive conferences in the country, Alabama must win every upcoming game to keep their playoff hopes alive. Several teams are vying for crucial playoff spots in this tough 12-team league. At this pace, Alabama is shaping up to be a strong contender for the postseason.
Stay tuned as Alabama continues its pursuit of excellence under Kalen DeBoer’s leadership.

Michael Penix Jr. flexes Falcons depth after SNF loss to 49ers
The Atlanta Falcons could not get the job done on the road as they bowed to the San Francisco 49ers, 20-10, at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday. The Falcons looked to win a third consecutive game, but their offense sputtered against the shorthanded hosts.
The Falcons only scored twice on nine drives, including getting blanked in the fourth quarter. Michael Penix Jr. had a strong performance in the first half but failed to up the ante after the break, allowing the 49ers to run away with the victory. Penix went 21-of-38 for 241 yards and a touchdown while getting sacked twice.
After the game, the second-year quarterback expressed his frustration. “We have too many good players on this team to not find a way (to win),” said Penix, as quoted by Falcons reporter Tori McElhaney. He deemed the loss unacceptable, especially considering the team’s depth.
The 49ers were missing key players Brock Purdy, Nick Bosa, Ricky Pearsall, and Fred Warner due to injuries, but the Falcons still fell short, dropping their third loss in six outings. Adding to Atlanta’s struggles, Divine Deable left the game in the first half with a forearm injury.
The Falcons managed only 62 rushing yards and committed six penalties. Defensively, they struggled as well, giving up 324 total yards, including 201 yards from Christian McCaffrey, who scored two touchdowns. This marked McCaffrey’s first 200-yard game from scrimmage since 2019.
Towards the end of the game, Penix was seen heading to the medical tent after taking multiple hits. Falcons coach Raheem Morris, however, was not overly concerned about his quarterback’s condition. “Obviously, we’ve got to let him go get evaluated. He gave me the thumbs up on the sideline when we were asking him, so he was OK to finish. We’ll see where he is tomorrow,” Morris said during the postgame conference.
The Falcons will return to action in Week 8 as they prepare to face the Miami Dolphins.
