Tony Khan Confirms Executive Responsible For Briscoe Ban Is ‘Long Gone’

AEW President Tony Khan addressed the long-standing ban that kept the Briscoe Brothers off Warner Bros. Discovery networks following Mark Briscoe’s TNT Championship victory on Saturday. During the AEW Full Gear press conference, Khan confirmed that the executive responsible for preventing the team from appearing on television is no longer employed by the company. Mark Briscoe captured the TNT Championship earlier in the night, marking his first singles title in AEW. He was presented with a custom camouflage title belt to commemorate the win. When asked about the journey from being banned to holding the network’s signature title, Khan spoke bluntly about the past regime. Khan said: “Someone who’s long gone, long departed. Somebody who is long gone and, you know, we’ll leave it at that.” Khan mentioned the positive relationship with the current management team. Khan continued: “This place is the best. This is the absolute greatest. It’s a great place. And again, that is not somebody that is part of the family of the network or part of this family now.” Mark Briscoe reflected on the moment, acknowledging the specific controversy involving his late brother, Jay Briscoe. In 2013, Jay posted homophobic comments on Twitter that resulted in a high-ranking Warner official blocking the duo from AEW programming. Mark spoke about learning from those mistakes. Mark said: “It’s just crazy because, so many years ago, it was, you know, we didn’t know there was a point where the trajectory of the Briscoe brothers, it was just all up, up, up. And then, you know, some unfortunate comments were made by my big head brother. But, you know, it’s one of the things where you live and you learn. And we’re just so grateful that people have seen and acknowledged that we did learn from our mistakes.” Khan noted that he tried “every day” to overturn the decision while Jay was alive, but the executive “would not budge.” He credited current WBD CEO David Zaslav for the regime change that allowed Mark to be featured on the network. WWE Hall of Famer slams “stupid Mexican traditions” after Dominik Mysterio incident

A WWE Hall of Famer has called out Mexican wrestling traditions following an incident involving Dominik Mysterio.

Dirty Dom recently defended the AAA Mega Championship at Héroes Inmortales 2025 against Dragon Lee. In a hard-fought contest, Dominik successfully walked out with his title, but the match was marred by an unsavory incident.

After the match, a coin thrown by a fan struck Dominik in the head, leaving him busted open just above the eyebrow. While fans in Mexico have been known to throw coins into the ring as a show of respect, WWE Hall of Famer JBL was far from impressed.

Speaking on the *Something to Wrestle With* podcast, JBL criticized the fans for injuring Dominik. He said,
“Listen, I saw some of these comments about, ‘Hey, WWE needs to keep the tradition.’ What the hell is wrong with you people? They’re not throwing coins into the ring, they’re throwing coins at Dom, you dumbas**s, and you are dumb as**s for throwing it. You got him busted open that badly. That’s not throwing a coin in the ring for, ‘Hey, here’s something really cool for you,’ that’s throwing a coin at Dom.”

JBL went on to call out the fans’ actions, emphasizing that this wasn’t the old tradition of throwing coins in the ring to show admiration but rather an attempt to harm Dominik Mysterio.
“So don’t tell me about your stupid Mexican traditions and all this bullsh*t about how WWE is going to keep this tradition. No, do you throw these guys out of the arena? Because what they’re doing is they’re trying to make the baby the heel or babyface, whatever he is, both, I think, blink. That’s why they throw sh*t at you. They throw sh*t at you to make you flinch or whatever else they think is funny. That’s what they’re doing,” he added.

Following the incident, El Grande Americano came out to the ring to check on Dominik and helped him to his feet.

### Dominik Mysterio Addresses Mexican Fans

After the show, Lucha Libre AAA shared a backstage clip showing Dominik Mysterio boasting about his win and addressing the coin-throwing incident. He acknowledged that the coin toss is a Mexican tradition but made it clear that he doesn’t need their money.

He jokingly challenged the fans, saying if they want to throw something, they should try bills instead. Dominik then referred to himself as the “King of Wrestlers.”

### What’s Next for Dominik Mysterio?

Dominik Mysterio will be in action at *Saturday Night’s Main Event*, where he will defend his Intercontinental Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Penta and Rusev.
