Under Night In-Birth 2 came to the end of its current slate of DLC during EVO 2025, marking the conclusion of the game’s first season of content. It has been a long journey for the Under Night In-Birth series, and both director Kamone Serizawa and composer Raito have been thrilled to be part of it from the very beginning.
So, what comes next? Where does Under Night In-Birth go from here? Kamone and Raito recently sat down with us to discuss the evolution of the series and the future of the game.
Kamone expressed his heartfelt thanks to the players for all their support over the years. He never imagined that so many people would still be championing Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys: Celes on the main stage of EVO 2025, many years after the release of the original game. The title has even secured back-to-back appearances on EVO’s main stage, a testament to its enduring appeal.
The development team has been dedicated to the Under Night series for a decade. With Izumi wrapping up the final run of DLC for UNI2, Kamone and Raito revealed that they still have plans and are eager to continue working on the series, aiming to evolve it even further.
Since we had Raito with us, we also took the opportunity to dive into the music of the game. Under Night In-Birth’s soundtrack has grown significantly over the years, evolving from simple, short-looping tunes at the start to more elaborate and richly composed tracks.
Raito explained that this evolution was influenced by the shift in platform from arcade to home console and PC versions. In arcades, players experience the game in short bursts, which influenced the creation of concise music loops. However, with the move to home and PC platforms, players engage with the game at a more relaxed pace, allowing for more complex and extended compositions.
This shift is why, in Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys: Celes, the music is notably more intricate and drawn out, enhancing the overall player experience.
As the Under Night In-Birth series continues to grow and evolve, fans can look forward to exciting developments ahead from Kamone, Raito, and the entire team.
