Fans of the Marvel Studios series *Hawkeye* received some exciting news recently, as star Jeremy Renner opened up about the possibility of a second season. During a recent appearance on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, Renner shared an optimistic update on the status of *Hawkeye* Season 2.
Earlier this year, Renner had hinted that a second season was in development but revealed that he was initially forced to pass on it due to a salary dispute. However, his latest comments suggest that progress is being made. “We got to where we’re trying to do the second season,” Renner said. “And I think I’ll get strong enough to be able to do it. And we’ll work it out. It’s gonna be great.”
Although details about a potential Season 2 remain scarce, Renner has previously hinted that the show would likely continue its distinctive holiday theme. The original concept for *Hawkeye* was always intended to be framed around New York City during Christmas. “For a second season, that was always the idea to continue that narrative, even in the Christmas framework of it all, too, because they love that world in New York,” Renner explained. “There’s really no more beautiful place than New York until Christmas. After Christmas is kind of bleak.”
Originally released in 2021, *Hawkeye* starred Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. The series was created by Jonathan Igla, with directing duties handled by Amber Finlayson & Katie Ellwood (collectively known as Bert and Bertie) and Rhys Thomas.
The show was positively received upon its premiere and notably featured the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. This brought renewed interest and led to the return of much of the *Daredevil* cast in the upcoming project *Daredevil: Born Again*.
With Renner’s latest remarks, fans have good reason to stay hopeful that the much-anticipated second season of *Hawkeye* is moving closer to reality.
