Trump plans to deploy National Guard in Illinois, governor says

The Trump administration plans to federalize 300 members of the Illinois National Guard, Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker said Saturday. Pritzker revealed that the guard received word from the Pentagon in the morning that the troops would be called up. He did not specify when or where they would be deployed, but President Donald Trump has long threatened to send troops to Chicago.

“This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will,” Pritzker said in a statement. “It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.”

A spokesperson for the governor’s office said she could not provide additional details. The White House and the Pentagon did not respond to questions about Pritzker’s statement.

The escalation of federal law enforcement in Illinois follows similar deployments in other parts of the country. Over the summer, Trump deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles as part of his law enforcement takeover in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, Tennessee National Guard troops are expected to help Memphis police.

In response, California Gov. Gavin Newsom sued to stop the deployment in Los Angeles and won a temporary block in federal court. The Trump administration has appealed the ruling, which deemed the use of the guard illegal. A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has indicated that it believes the government is likely to prevail.

Pritzker called Trump’s move in Illinois a “manufactured performance” that would pull the state’s National Guard troops away from their families and regular jobs. “For Donald Trump, this has never been about safety. This is about control,” said the governor.

He also noted that state, county, and local law enforcement have been coordinating to ensure the safety of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Broadview facility on the outskirts of Chicago. Federal officials reported the arrests of 13 people protesting near the facility on Friday. The facility has been frequently targeted during the administration’s surge of immigration enforcement this fall.

Last month, Trump said he was sending federal troops to Portland, Oregon, calling the city war-ravaged. However, local officials have suggested that many of his claims and social media posts appear to rely on outdated images from 2020, a time when demonstrations and unrest gripped the city following the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police.

City and state officials sued to stop that deployment the next day. U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut heard arguments Friday, with a ruling expected over the weekend.

Trump has federalized 200 National Guard troops in Oregon, but so far, they do not appear to have moved into Portland. They have been seen training on the coast in anticipation of deployment.

A man wanted for the murder of a fellow worker in Khopoli was arrested at the India-Nepal border on September 29, after evading police for nearly three weeks.

The accused, Akhtar Habib Baitha (27), a resident of Pirokhar village in Madhubani district, Bihar, had been absconding since September 11, the day the murder occurred.

### Murder Linked to Money Dispute

Police reported that Baitha allegedly attacked Paras Harihar Singh (50) of Sitamarhi, Bihar, by hitting him on the head with a stone inside a rented room and shed in Devanhave, Khalapur taluka, Raigad. Singh later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigations revealed that the attack stemmed from a financial dispute. Singh had lent Rs 6,000 to Baitha, who was asked to return the money, leading to the fatal confrontation.

### Accused Flees Across Multiple Districts

Following the murder, Baitha fled from Raigad to Thane, then to Dahanu in Palghar district, switching off his phone to avoid detection. Police teams conducted searches in Surat, Ahmedabad, Madhubani, and Sitamarhi but were initially unable to trace him.

### Arrest Coordinated with Nepal Police

Acting on intelligence, authorities learned that Baitha was hiding in Mahottari, Nepal. A special police team, in coordination with local Nepalese police, tracked his movements and successfully detained him at the India-Nepal border.

Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal praised the operation, stating, “Tracking and arresting an accused across state borders and near an international boundary was a major challenge.”

Baitha was arrested at 2:45 pm on September 29 and produced before the court, which remanded him to police custody until October 4.

‘Will Shut Your Business In Pune’: Gangster Nilesh Ghaywal Threatens Dharashiv Businessman Over WhatsApp Call – Video

A video has been surfacing online showing Pune-based gangster Nilesh Ghaywal threatening a businessman from the Dharashiv district. The incident comes amid reports of Ghaywal’s escape first to London and then allegedly to Switzerland, following police inaction.

In the video, Dinesh, a businessman from Dharashiv, is seen speaking with Ghaywal over a WhatsApp call. During the conversation, Ghaywal appears irked after Dinesh involves MLA Tanaji Sawant. Subsequently, Ghaywal asks Dinesh to visit his residence, abuses him, and threatens to shut down his business operations in Pune.

Following the Kothrud firing incident on September 17, the Pune Police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Nilesh Ghaywal and eight of his aides. Shortly after, Ghaywal fled to London. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has also been issued against him. Authorities are currently investigating how Ghaywal managed to obtain a passport despite having numerous criminal cases filed against him.

Police records reveal that Ghaywal was once an ardent follower of gangster Gaja Marne in the early 2000s. Between 2000 and 2003, Ghaywal and Marne operated together and were involved in killing a criminal, for which they served seven years in prison.

After their release, a dispute over finances and dominance arose between the two, leading to their separation. Since then, both have been focused on strengthening their own gangs independently.

Subsequently, Ghaywal asks Dinesh to visit his residence, abuses him, and threatens to shut down his business operations in Pune.

The incident comes in the wake of the Kothrud firing on September 17, after which the Pune Police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Nilesh Ghaywal and his eight aides. Following this, Ghaywal fled to London. A Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued against him, and authorities are investigating how he managed to obtain a passport despite having numerous criminal cases registered against him.

According to police records, Ghaywal was an ardent follower of gangster Gajanan “Gaja” Marne in the early 2000s, and the two operated together between 2000 and 2003. The duo was involved in the killing of a criminal, for which they served seven years in prison.

Omaha police ticket boxing champ Crawford for reckless driving, order him out of vehicle at gunpoint

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police ordered champion boxer Terence Bud Crawford out of his vehicle at gunpoint during a traffic stop for reckless driving early Sunday, just hours after his hometown held a parade celebrating his victory over Canelo Alvarez two weeks ago.

A video circulating on social media showed part of the traffic stop, prompting Police Chief Todd Schmaderer to order an internal affairs investigation—a move supported by Mayor John Ewing.

According to a news release, officers working in the downtown area observed a vehicle driving recklessly shortly before 1:30 a.m. While speaking with the driver, an officer noticed a gun on the driver’s side floorboard. All four occupants were ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint.

The driver was later identified as Crawford upon verification of his driver’s license. Crawford was ticketed for reckless driving. One passenger, a member of Crawford’s security team, was also found to be carrying a legal firearm. Police confirmed all occupants of the vehicle are legally permitted to carry firearms.

A police supervisor and lieutenant responded to the scene at Crawford’s request. Crawford’s spokeswoman said Sunday night that he had no comment.

Mayor Ewing posted on Facebook that he spoke to Crawford after learning of the traffic stop.

“I acknowledge the seriousness of what occurred and how trust between law enforcement and our community is important and shows the need to be continuously vigilant about building relationships,” Ewing said. “Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer has pledged an internal investigation, which I support and want to be full and thorough. We will gather all the facts and be transparent with the public about our findings.”

Crawford became the unified super middleweight champion with his unanimous decision victory over Alvarez in Las Vegas. He is the first male boxer to capture three unified division titles and currently holds a record of 42-0 with 31 knockouts.

The city held a parade through downtown in Crawford’s honor during the day, and a party celebrating his 38th birthday was held at a live music venue near where the traffic stop occurred.

“Understand that my heart dropped in learning of this end to an otherwise wonderful day and evening celebrating our city’s world boxing champion,” Ewing said. “Omaha needs to remember this important day as a good one while we seek answers to how it ended. Meanwhile, we must ensure that every resident, no matter who they are, feels safe and respected in Omaha.”

Three Anti-ICE Influencers Indicted After Stalking, Doxing Agent in Los Angeles [WATCH]

A federal grand jury has indicted three women accused of following an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent to his home and posting his address on Instagram. The Justice Department announced Friday that Cynthia Raygoza, 37, Ashleigh Brown, 38, and Sandra Carmona Samane, 25, were charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of publicly disclosing the personal information of a federal agent.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on August 28 after the women encountered the agent at the Civic Center in Downtown Los Angeles. Prosecutors said they began livestreaming on Instagram accounts including ice_out_of_la, defendmesoamericanculture, and corn_maiden_design. As the agent drove home, the women allegedly followed him in a black sedan driven by Raygoza.

When he arrived at his residence, the women began shouting to neighbors and livestream viewers, identifying him as an ICE officer. “Your neighbor is ICE,” one of them said. Others shouted, “La migra lives here,” and “ICE lives on your street and you should know.” They concluded by announcing the agent’s address and encouraging viewers to come on down. The footage was later deleted from the Instagram accounts.

Brown and Samane were arrested earlier on federal complaints. Brown is being held without bond, in part because she faces a separate charge for assault on a federal officer. Samane was released on a $5,000 bond. Raygoza remains at large.

Acting U.S. Attorney for Southern California Bill Essayli condemned the incident. “Our brave federal agents put their lives on the line every day to keep our nation safe,” he said. “The conduct of these defendants is deeply offensive to law enforcement officers and their families. If you threaten, dox, or harm in any manner one of our agents or employees, you will face prosecution and prison time.”

The indictment follows a string of recent attacks against ICE. Just days earlier, a gunman killed one and critically injured two others at an immigration facility in Dallas, Texas. Anti-ICE activists also disrupted court proceedings in Los Angeles when the charges were first announced.

The arrests come as California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law banning law enforcement officers from wearing masks while on duty. The measure, introduced in response to ICE officers wearing face coverings during Los Angeles immigration raids, is the first of its kind in the nation.

Law enforcement groups have strongly opposed the ban, saying it exposes federal agents to retaliation. Tricia McLaughlin, Homeland Security’s assistant secretary for public affairs, called the law “despicable” and a “flagrant attempt to endanger our officers.” She added that Newsom’s rhetoric had contributed to a 1,000 percent increase in attacks on federal agents and accused him of acting as a sanctuary politician who placed officers at risk of being doxxed and targeted by known and suspected terrorist sympathizers.

Essayli also criticized the measure, stating on X that California has no authority to regulate federal law enforcement. “If Newsom wants to regulate our agents, he must go through Congress,” he wrote.

The California State Sheriffs Association, the Peace Officers Research Association of California, and the California Police Chiefs Association have all voiced opposition, calling the law reckless and dangerous. They argue that protecting the identities of agents is critical for their safety and that of their families, especially in light of increased harassment both online and in public.

President Donald Trump also weighed in, urging Democrats to stop what he described as inflammatory rhetoric against ICE. “The Brave Men and Women of ICE are just trying to do their jobs, and remove the WORST of the WORST Criminals out of our Country, but they are facing an unprecedented increase in threats, violence, and attacks by Deranged Radical Leftists,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“This violence is the result of the Radical Left Democrats constantly demonizing Law Enforcement, calling for ICE to be demolished, and comparing ICE Officers to Nazis,” he continued. “I AM CALLING ON ALL DEMOCRATS TO STOP THIS RHETORIC AGAINST ICE AND AMERICA’S LAW ENFORCEMENT, RIGHT NOW!”

Trump reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to its pledge to secure the nation’s borders and support law enforcement officers carrying out that mission.

FBI fires agents photographed kneeling during 2020 racial justice protest, sources say

WASHINGTON — The FBI has fired agents who were photographed kneeling during a racial justice protest in Washington following the 2020 death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, three people familiar with the matter said Friday.

The bureau had reassigned the agents last spring but has since terminated their employment, according to the sources who spoke anonymously to The Associated Press due to the sensitive nature of personnel matters. While the exact number of employees fired remains unclear, two sources estimated it to be roughly 20.

The photographs in question showed a group of FBI agents taking a knee in apparent solidarity during one of the demonstrations sparked by Floyd’s May 2020 killing. The death led to a national reckoning over policing and racial injustice, igniting widespread anger after millions of people viewed the arrest on video.

An FBI spokesman declined to comment on the firings Friday.

These terminations come amid a broader personnel purge at the bureau as Director Kash Patel seeks to reshape the nation’s premier federal law enforcement agency. Last month, five agents and top-level executives were summarily fired in a wave of ousters that current and former officials say has contributed to declining morale within the bureau.

Among those dismissed was Steve Jensen, who helped oversee investigations into the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Another, Brian Driscoll, served as acting FBI director during the early days of the Trump administration and resisted demands from the Justice Department to provide the names of agents involved in the January 6 investigations.

Chris Meyer, also fired, was the subject of incorrect social media rumors alleging his involvement in the investigation into former President Donald Trump’s retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Walter Giardina, another ousted agent, participated in high-profile probes including the investigation into Trump adviser Peter Navarro.

A lawsuit filed by Jensen, Driscoll, and another fired FBI supervisor, Spencer Evans, alleged that Patel acknowledged the likely illegality of firing agents based on the cases they worked but felt powerless to intervene because the White House and Justice Department were determined to remove all agents who investigated Trump.

At a congressional hearing last week, Patel denied receiving orders from the White House regarding personnel decisions and stated that anyone who has been fired simply failed to meet the FBI’s standards.

CBI Brings Back Fugitive Parminder Singh From UAE Via INTERPOL Channels

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully coordinated the return of wanted fugitive Parminder Singh, also known as Nirmal Singh or Pindi, from the UAE through INTERPOL channels.

Parminder Singh is wanted by the Punjab Police in connection with multiple serious offences, including extortion, violations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for raising funds for terrorist activities, attempt to murder, and criminal intimidation. The subject had fled India and was absconding for a significant period.

The International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of the CBI, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), NCB-Abu Dhabi, and Punjab Police, successfully coordinated his return to India on 26 September 2025. Upon arrival, Parminder Singh was escorted by a team of Punjab Police officials from the UAE.

Earlier, on 13 June 2025, the CBI secured the publication of a Red Notice through INTERPOL at the request of Punjab Police. Parminder Singh was subsequently arrested by UAE authorities, and a decision was taken to extradite him to India.

Red Notices published by INTERPOL serve as international alerts circulated to law enforcement agencies worldwide for tracking and apprehending wanted criminals. Acting as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, the CBI coordinates with various Indian law enforcement agencies through BHARATPOL to facilitate assistance via INTERPOL channels.

In recent years, more than 130 wanted criminals have been successfully brought back to India through effective coordination and cooperation via INTERPOL channels, reinforcing India’s commitment to combating transnational crime.

From Selling Utensils To Running Extortion Rackets: The Story Of Pune’s Andekar Gang

**Pune Police Crack Down on Andekar Gang Following Murder of 18-Year-Old Ayush Komkar**

After the murder of 18-year-old Ayush Komkar, Pune Police have intensified their crackdown on the notorious Andekar Gang and its family members, who have been implicated in various criminal cases. Simultaneously, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken decisive action by demolishing illegal structures established by the gang and their relatives in Nana Peth’s fish market and other locations.

According to sources, more than 70 shop owners operating in the area have jointly filed complaints against the cruelty and extortion practices of the gang members with the Pune Police.

### 13 Arrests Made So Far in Ayush Komkar Murder Case

Ayush Komkar was murdered on September 5 in Nana Peth, in what is alleged to be a conspiracy masterminded by his grandfather, Suryakant alias Bandu Ranoji Andekar. The murder was reportedly carried out as an act of revenge for the death of Bandu’s son, Vanraj Andekar (40), a former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator, who was shot dead near his residence in Nana Peth on September 1, 2024.

Following a complaint lodged by Ayush’s mother, Kalyani, the police booked 15 individuals in connection with the case. These include Bandu (68), his son Krushna alias Krushnaraj Suryakant Andekar (40), nephews Shivam Udaykant Andekar (31), Shivraj Udaykant Andekar (29), and Abhishek Udaykant Andekar (21), their mother Lakshmi Udaykant Andekar (60), as well as sister Vrundavani Nilanjay Wadekar (40) and her children Swaraj (22) and Tushar Nilanjay Wadekar (26).

### History of the Andekar Gang

The Andekar family’s involvement in criminal activities dates back to the 1970s. Initially, the family ran a utensil business that involved exchanging new utensils for old clothes. However, Bandu’s brother, Balu Andekar, reportedly committed the family’s first crime in 1970 when he attacked a local goon over a minor dispute, breaking the man’s finger.

Balu capitalized on the fear his actions stirred among local residents and formed a gang that began extorting money from vendors. To assert dominance, he eliminated a rival, Appa Taru of Kasba Peth, in 1975 by collaborating with another local goon, Promod Malvadkar.

### Dispute and Gang Wars Between Andekar and Malvadkar Crews

The alliance between Balu Andekar and Promod Malvadkar soured, leading to a violent fallout. On July 17, 1984, Malvadkar murdered Balu with swords in the Shivajinagar court premises. This assassination escalated into a gang war between the Andekar and Malvadkar factions, resulting in the deaths of six people, including Malvadkar’s father, brother, and a cousin.

### Rise of Gangster Suryakant Alias Bandu Andekar

Bandu Andekar was implicated in multiple cases related to the murders linked to the Malvadkar gang conflict. A Pune court sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Despite this, upon release, Bandu declared himself the gang’s leader and resumed extorting ‘hafta’ (protection money) from local vendors.

### Andekar Family’s Political Influence

The Andekar gang’s influence extended into politics. While Bandu was operating criminal activities, his brothers Udaykant and Ramakant won Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) corporator elections. Additionally, Bandu’s wife Rajashree Andekar was elected to civic offices twice, in 2007 and 2012. His son, Vanraj Andekar, secured a PMC corporator seat in 2017 on an NCP ticket.

### Criminal Records of the Andekar Gang Members

Over the years, multiple cases have been filed against the Andekar gang:

– **Bandu Andekar:** 17 cases since 1981, including murder, riots, extortion, Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), and Arms Act violations.
– **Krushnaraj Suryakant Andekar:** 8 cases.
– **Shivam Andekar:** 5 cases, among others.

### Extortion from Fish Market Vendors

From 2012 onwards, the gang intensified extortion activities by demanding protection money from fish market vendors, under the pretext of shielding them from PMC encroachment drives. Leveraging their criminal and political influence, gang members demanded over ₹50,000 per vendor monthly, reportedly collecting more than ₹40 lakh every month from the fish market alone.

### Police Action and Current Developments

Nikhil Pingale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), informed *The Free Press Journal* that 15 individuals are presently in custody in connection with the Ayush Komkar murder case.

With over 70 vendors having already lodged complaints relating to the gang’s criminal activities, police expect additional reports in the near future.

The ongoing scrutiny of the Andekar gang’s illegal activities by law enforcement serves as a stern warning to other criminals operating in the region.

*The Pune Police and PMC remain committed to restoring law and order in Nana Peth and its surrounding areas, strengthening efforts to dismantle criminal networks that have long exploited local communities.*
