PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Deuce Jones led Saint Joseph’s (PA) to a 76-65 victory over Drexel on Saturday, scoring 29 points off the bench. Jones was highly efficient, shooting 7 for 11 from the field, including a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc, and converting 12 of 13 free throws to help the Hawks improve to 2-0.
Dasear Haskins contributed 15 points and six rebounds, while Anthony Finkley added 13 points, shooting 3 for 11 overall and 2 for 6 from three-point range, along with 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
For Drexel (1-1), Villiam Garcia Adsten led the team with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Josh Reed also scored 12 points, and Shane Blakeney contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
Jones scored 11 points in the first half as Saint Joseph’s trailed 37-34 at halftime. However, his 18-point performance in the second half propelled the Hawks to overcome the deficit and secure an 11-point victory.
