Republicans revive bid to require proof of citizenship for mail-in voter registration Washington Examiner ^ | November 18, 2025 12: 00 pm | Ramsey Touchberry Posted on by E. Pluribus Unum EXCLUSIVE Republicans in Congress are renewing a push to combat noncitizen voting in federal elections, directing their attention to the registration forms used to vote by mail. The Citizen Ballot Protection Act, spearheaded by Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) and Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL), would codify states’ ability to require proof of citizenship on mail voting applications. The legislation, introduced Tuesday, was offered during the previous Congress but failed to gain traction under Democratic leadership and then-President Joe Biden. “Voting in our country is a sacred right that must solely be limited to American citizens,” Britt said in a statement. “To allow states to uphold this principle should be simple commonsense.” The proposal would amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, which says voter registration forms submitted by mail may not include “any requirement for notarization or other formal authentication” and is intended to empower states to enact citizenship requirements for mailed applications. The current requirement includes attesting on the form, under penalty of perjury, that the applicant is an American citizen. The Supreme Court in 2013 struck down an Arizona law requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote, concluding that states could not create new requirements for federal elections under the NVRA. Lawmakers Call to Pass ‘PELOSI Act’ Banning Congressional Stock Trading in Honor of Nancy Pelosi’s Retirement
**Lawmakers Call for Passage of PELOSI Act to Ban Congressional Stock Trading Following Nancy Pelosi’s Retirement**
*Breitbart | November 6, 2025 | Sean Moran*
On Thursday, lawmakers renewed calls for the passage of the Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments (PELOSI) Act in honor of Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) recent retirement.
Senator Josh Hawley commented to reporters, “She’ll be the opportunity to finally ban stock trading by members of Congress. Nobody made more, I think, than her.”
In April, Hawley reintroduced the PELOSI Act, which aims to prohibit lawmakers and their spouses from purchasing or selling individual stocks. The proposed legislation seeks to eliminate conflicts of interest and promote transparency within Congress.

Exclusive-China buys three US soybean cargoes ahead of Trump-Xi meeting, sources say
**Exclusive: China Buys Three U.S. Soybean Cargoes Ahead of Trump-Xi Meeting, Sources Say**
*By Ella Cao and Naveen Thukra | Reuters | October 29, 2025*
China’s state-owned company COFCO purchased three U.S. soybean cargoes this week, according to two trade sources. This marks the country’s first purchases from this year’s U.S. harvest ahead of the upcoming summit between leaders Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.
COFCO bought approximately 180,000 metric tons of soybeans for shipment in December and January through Pacific Northwest port terminals, the sources added.
COFCO did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Benchmark Chicago soybean futures prices jumped this week to their highest levels in 15 months. The rise came as prices rebounded from recent five-year lows on hopes for a U.S.-China trade deal.
