NFL Insider Says Changes are Coming to Miami Dolphins

One of the bigger topics in the NFL this year that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon is the mess that is the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and head coach Mike McDaniel have become a headlining duo on what some are calling the “Tua Wrongs Don’t Make a Right” tour—playing out on the 2025 Test Stephen’s Patience Tour. You should see the t-shirts.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport weighed in on the Dolphins’ job-security situation yesterday on YouTube with a take that pretty much everyone could expect. It’s fine—it’s not rocket science with the Dolphins right now—we all know the days of McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier are numbered.

“(The Miami Dolphins) are going to roll forward with what they have, hoping the results are different,” Rapoport said, highlighting the true insanity of Dolphins’ ownership. “I think one thing that the past week’s events has showed us is that change is coming to the Dolphins. Obviously, (Mike) McDaniel is someone that Stephen Ross really likes and respects. He supported him, he chose him, he has invested in him with a big-time contract extension. He does not want to fire him. The results, though, have to change.”

The reality? They won’t.

### Change Is Coming to the Miami Dolphins Organization

There must be a method to owner Stephen Ross’s line of thinking. With a failing head coach and a quarterback who, in all likelihood, needs a fresh start elsewhere, Ross could be thinking that McDaniel is still the guy to lead this ship—at least down the super-high-draft-pick road. In this view, they could draft a suitable replacement for the aforementioned signal-caller who needs to go.

Whether or not that’s actually the case, no one really knows. But Rapoport insists that change is coming one way or another.

“And I think because of the ugly losses, because of Tua Tagovailoa throwing teammates under the bus and then recanting and walking all of that back,” Rapoport continues, “it has forced the entire nation to look at the Miami Dolphins and say, ‘What are they gonna do?’ So the Dolphins are going to get back to work this week with the hopes that the results are different, but I can pretty confidently say change is coming to the organization. It’s just a matter of how and when.”

### Former Player: Dolphins’ Regime Has to End

Rapoport isn’t alone in calling for changes in Miami. Former Dolphins guard Richie Incognito weighed in, calling the entire situation a disaster.

“I hate the whole situation they have brewing down there,” Incognito said. “This is a dumpster fire, and you have McDaniel and Tua throwing bags of gasoline into the dumpster fire.”

Incognito didn’t hold back in his criticism of leadership within the organization.

“We look at this guy on TV, I do not see a leader of men. When I’m going out there on Sunday, and I want to rip someone’s head off, I’m not getting fired up by this guy’s (McDaniel’s) pregame speech.”

He also pointed the finger squarely at Tua.

“Tua, last week, was talking about guys being late and he’s talking about leadership. Well, the leadership starts and ends with Tua because you’re the franchise quarterback. Everyone was taking sides on ‘Was he pointing fingers at the locker room?’ I think when he said ‘leadership,’ he was pointing the finger at Mike McDaniel.”

Incognito sees deeper issues beneath the surface.

“When you have people constantly late in a professional sports organization, that shows fractures. That shows favoritism. That, to me, is the biggest flaw in this entire operation.”

### What’s Next for the Dolphins?

One can only wonder if there are office pools in South Florida taking bets on when the hammer finally falls. Does McDaniel get fired before Tua actually gets benched? When will Grier have to turn in his playbook? Are parlays available?

As the Dolphins continue to stumble, one thing is clear: change is inevitable. The only question left is how soon it will come—and how deep the overhaul will be.

Rockets’ Kevin Durant delivers ‘no-brainer’ admission after signing $90 million extension

Although Kevin Durant remains one of the best scorers in the NBA today, he is nearing the end of his illustrious career. Ergo, the two-year, $90 million contract extension he signed with the Houston Rockets on Sunday could be the last deal he ever agrees to in this league. Such a decision cannot be made lightly.

The two-time Finals MVP is extremely confident in this union, however, identifying Space City as the most optimal path forward.

“I’m excited,” Durant told reporters on Monday, per Adam Wexler of SportsTalk 790. “That was the intent when I came here, was to try to be with this group as long as possible. It was a no-brainer to sign on that line.”

The future Hall of Famer took a discount to stay in Houston for the next few seasons, forgoing a chance to earn up to $120 million in order to give the organization added financial flexibility. The Rockets can now turn their attention to locking up versatile forward Tari Eason before Monday’s 6 p.m. ET deadline to sign players to rookie-scale extensions. Franchise pillar and All-Defensive First-Team selection Amen Thompson will be eligible for a new deal next summer.

Durant is willing to make this sacrifice because he, like many others, firmly believes this franchise can contend for a championship during the 2025-26 campaign. The 37-year-old can do his part to help that blueprint come to fruition—free from answering questions about money.

### Durant Is All In on the Rockets

“Just talking to [general manager Rafael Stone and head coach Ime Udoka], and how they wanted to build the team and how I see myself in this organization, I just thought it was a perfect contract for us,” Durant said. “I’m glad we can get that out of the way. We won’t have to worry about external noise throughout the season if I didn’t have a contract signed. So, we can just worry about basketball and focus on the season.”

Following the devastating Fred VanVleet injury, Kevin Durant is even more valuable to Houston. Besides the high-level offense he is expected to provide—26.6 points while shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 43.0 percent from behind the 3-point line last season—the six-time All-NBA First-Teamer brings loads of experience to a roster that still features plenty of young players.

Durant is not often heralded as a vocal leader, but he has a ton of hoops-based wisdom to offer. Houston will try to glean as much as it can from him over the next three years (including a $43 million player option for 2027-28). All the on-court contributions will definitely be of use as well.

Marine’s father who was deported has criminal record, Homeland Security says

**Father of Marine Detained by Immigration Authorities Has Criminal Record, DHS Confirms**

SAN DIEGO — The father of a Marine who was arrested by immigration authorities while visiting his pregnant daughter at Camp Pendleton has a criminal record that includes charges of domestic violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed Thursday.

Esteban Rios was deported to Mexico in 1999, removed from the United States again in 2005, and ordered deported by an immigration judge in 2020 after entering the country illegally a third time, DHS said.

This statement marked the first detailed account Homeland Security provided since the Marine, Steve Rios, said last week that his father was detained after visiting the Southern California military base. Esteban was initially released with ankle monitors but was detained again when reporting days later to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office, as ordered.

Homeland Security initially declined to provide details when The Associated Press (AP) inquired multiple times on Tuesday about any criminal record Esteban Rios might have. The agency only said, “criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.” and stated it had no other information to release.

However, one day after AP published a story on Esteban Rios, and two days after requesting details from the department, DHS released the detailed account of his criminal record. The department also accused the AP of having “deliberately obscured the facts,” despite not providing the AP with the information it claimed was obscured.

Steve Rios, a Marine from Oceanside, told San Diego station KNSD that his parents inspired him to enlist. He said the family came to the U.S. from Mexico more than 30 years ago and had worked washing cars and cleaning houses throughout his life.

“It was just making them proud, right? I’ve seen all the struggles they’ve gone through,” Steve said. “The least I could do, right, and serve this country and try to, you know, put some time in.”

Steve explained that he and his parents were picking up his younger sister and her husband, who is also a Marine, at Camp Pendleton on September 28 — a routine they have maintained every weekend for the past few months while she is expecting her first child.

After stopping at the base gate, ICE officials arrived to detain both parents, later releasing them with ankle monitors. Steve said his father was deported on October 10.

The Rios family told KNSD that the parents had no criminal record, had pending green card applications sponsored by Steve, and were authorized to work.

In response to AP’s inquiries, Tricia McLaughlin, a Homeland Security spokeswoman, issued a statement on Tuesday: “Under President (Donald) Trump and Secretary (Kristi) Noem, if you break the law including domestic violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon you will face the consequences. Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.”

The statement did not mention Esteban Rios’s arrest, any charges, or his immigration history.

When AP followed up asking if Esteban Rios and his wife had criminal histories, Luis Alani, a communications strategist at ICE, responded, “By statute, ICE has no information on these aliens. To clarify, there is no information we can release.”

Comments Show Cowboys WR George Pickens Remains Own Worst Enemy

These are the salad days for the Dallas Cowboys with wide receiver George Pickens. Everything is going great. Pickens, in his first season with the Cowboys after being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason, has been lighting up opposing defenses.

Through six games, Pickens leads the NFL with six receiving touchdowns and ranks fourth in the league with 525 receiving yards. He’s coming off a bravura performance against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6, where he had nine receptions for 168 yards and one touchdown—his second game with over 130 receiving yards this season.

### Pickens Tries to Deflect Blame to Steelers

“That’s been such a vastly different Pickens experience than the Cowboys appear to be having,” Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney wrote on October 16. “Pickens has repeatedly talked about the closeness of the team and the wide receiver room. And his teammates and coaches have pointed out how much fun he is to have around in the locker room. He insists he was the same way with the Steelers, but that there were elements in the organization that sought to damage his image.”

So, what conspiracy or cabal sought to take down Pickens? That part isn’t totally clear.

“Especially off the cameras,” Pickens said. “I mean, I can’t record myself. Definitely, people can put stuff out there that can tarnish your image but I always feel like I was having fun.”

For several reasons, those are some wild things for Pickens to say. That begins with the fact that anyone with a smartphone knows you can record yourself, and ends with the idea that anyone but Pickens himself, all on his own, tarnished his image.

### Steelers’ Christmas Day Nightmare With Pickens

Imagine this: you’re an NFL team getting ready to play on Christmas Day, at home. Not only that, but you’ll be playing in front of tens of millions of people. At home, tens of millions will watch you in the first NFL regular-season games to stream on Netflix. And you’re doing it all against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

That was the situation the Steelers found themselves in on Christmas Day in 2024. And in the time they should have been the most laser-focused and dialed in in the hours leading up to kickoff, they found themselves dealing with a much different issue—that their star player, Pickens, was nowhere to be found.

“After the Steelers’ Week 13 win in Cincinnati, during which Pickens was flagged twice for unsportsmanlike conduct, the coach said the wideout needed to ‘grow up,’” The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo wrote in January 2025. “Pickens sat out the next two games with a hamstring injury. When he was finally healthy, how did he respond? By showing up late for the Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs.”

Coach Mike Tomlin asks players to report to games at least two hours before kickoff. On December 25, Pickens walked through the media entrance just an hour and 25 minutes before kickoff—after inactive players were announced.

George Pickens is undoubtedly thriving with the Dallas Cowboys, but his past in Pittsburgh is shrouded in controversy and missed opportunities. Only time will tell how his career continues to unfold.

RSS On Nadda Remarks: ‘Family Matters’ Should Not Be Discussed In Public

**RSS Seeks to Downplay Rift with BJP, Emphasizes Family Matters Should Remain Private**

On Wednesday, September 25, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) addressed perceptions of a rift between the organisation and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), urging that internal matters be kept within the family.

Speaking at the India Today conclave, Sunil Ambekar, a senior RSS functionary and the organisation’s Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, responded to questions regarding comments made by BJP president JP Nadda ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Nadda had remarked that the BJP had become self-sufficient and capable of running its own affairs, referring to the RSS as an “ideological front.”

Ambekar stated, “We solve family matters like family matters. We don’t discuss such issues on public platforms.” He sought to downplay the significance of any perceived differences between the RSS and the BJP, emphasizing the importance of discretion.

Highlighting the RSS’s broad appeal, Ambekar noted that people from all walks of life join the organisation. “Even if anyone joined the BJP for political gains, they begin doing good work because of their association with the RSS,” he added.

On questions regarding the role of women within the RSS, Ambekar explained that the Rashtra Sevika Samiti has been carrying out similar work to the RSS since the 1930s.

“As a structure on the ground, the RSS shakhas are only for boys. But the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, an all-women organisation affiliated with the RSS, has been doing the same work since the 1930s,” he said. Ambekar elaborated that the basic structure of the RSS is the “shakha,” which is designed for the “man-making process.”

He further stated that there currently is no demand from society for men and women to participate together in RSS activities. “‘Man-making and nation-building is RSS’ mission. Hence, shakhas have only males, while Rashtra Sevika Samiti has women as members,” he explained.

“When residents of a locality say that girls and boys can play together, we will make necessary changes in our structure. But society is not asking for it,” Ambekar added.

He concluded, “Society is not asking for girls and boys to play together. The current structure is a matter of convenience, and that is why there is such an arrangement of the Sangh having only boys as volunteers.”
