It’s been a while since Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has played in a game, but that could change this Sunday with Burrow being a full participant in practice this week. The Bengals play against the 9-2 New England Patriots on Sunday. Joe Burrow’s Injury Status Ahead Of Bengals Vs. Patriots Burrow hasn’t played since Week 2, when he suffered a turf toe injury, and the Bengals desperately need Burrow back. Cincinnati is 2-0 with him as the starter and 1-7 without him. While Burrow is officially listed as questionable on the Bengals injury report, he’s trending in the right direction and performing at a high level in practice according to Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. “Joe’s been looking outstanding, man,” Higgins said on Thursday. “He’s slinging it deep, short routes. Everything’s been pretty good.” Higgins believes that Burrow is at 100% but wants Burrow to come back at his own pace. “He needs to take as much time as he needs, but I mean, he looks good,” Higgins said. “If he’s ready, then I’m ready.” Bengals coach Zac Taylor says the team isn’t ready to decide if Burrow is playing on Sunday. Taylor noted that the Bengals playing on Sunday and then again on Thursday at the Baltimore Ravens, is a factor. Two games in five days is rough on the bodies of healthy players, let alone a franchise quarterback coming back from injury. “I think Joe has done everything he can to put himself in a position to get back,” Taylor said. “We are just going to keep taking our time on this one. No decision has been made. I feel comfortable waiting as long as we can to make this decision.” Although the 3-7 Bengals have just a 1% chance of making the playoffs, per NFL Next Gen Stats, Taylor doesn’t see that factoring into the decision to start Burrow or sit him. “I think it’s important. Winning is important,” Taylor said. “Obviously, he is who he is, and he gives us an outstanding chance to win games. And I think for his own he wants to play football. That’s he’s a football player. That’s what he wants to be also.” While Taylor’s optimistic that his toe injury won’t be reaggravated once Burrow returns to the field, he’s still being cautious with his confidence about it. “He’s done everything he can. He looks great. You expect it to respond great when he’s out there and gets tackled, but you don’t know,” Taylor said. Will Burrow Be Activated Vs. Patriots? The Bengals will have to activate Burrow by 4 p. m. ET Saturday if he’s to have a chance to play against the Patriots. However, Taylor said there’s a chance Burrow could be activated and still not play. “Everything is on the table,” Taylor said. Burrow, 28, had a stellar 2024 campaign, throwing for 43 touchdowns and 4, 918 yards, but all the progress made then has been offset by an injury setback this season. Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and even if the Bengals postseason chances are slim to none, his return to action will be a positive development for the league.

Curry out, other stars questionable at Heat as Warriors’ tough schedule marches on
Please email your obituary to obituary@chicoer. com or call 530-896-7718. Please include your name, mailing address, and phone number along with the copy and photo. We also need a copy of the death certificate or name and number of the funeral home to verify death. The Warriors will be shorthanded Wednesday night when they face the Heat in Miami on the second night of a Florida back-to-back set. Steph Curry, who led Golden State with 34 points in Tuesday’s loss in Orlando, has been ruled out with an ankle injury that has been lingering since earlier in the Warriors’ road trip in San Antonio. Curry passed Vince Carter for No. 22 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Joining Curry in street clothes for the Miami game are Al Horford (toe injury management), Jonathan Kuminga (knee tendinitis) and De’Anthony Melton (ACL rehab). The Warriors have listed Jimmy Butler as questionable with a back strain, while Draymond Green and Buddy Hield are questionable to play due to illness. Horford played in Tuesday’s game and the Warriors have said he will not play both ends of a back-to-back this season as they aim to keep the 39-year-old healthy for the playoffs. Kuminga has not played since Nov. 12, when the Warriors beat the Spurs in San Antonio and he missed the second half with knee soreness. Butler left a Nov. 4 game against the Suns against Phoenix with back soreness and missed the next night’s game in Sacramento, but has played in each game since. That Nov. 5 game in Sacramento is the lone game this season in which the Warriors have sat all three of their veteran stars Curry, Green and Butler as they try to balance winning with rest for their players above age 35. Wednesday’s game will complete Golden State’s fifth back-to-back set of the season as the Warriors play their 17th game (12 on the road) in 30 days to open the season.

Bears expect D’Andre Swift to play today vs. Giants
After missing last week, Bears running back D’Andre Swift is expected to play today. Although he is listed as questionable with a groin injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Swift should be able to take the field.
Swift started the first seven games of the season but missed last week’s win over the Bengals. The Bears didn’t skip a beat in his absence as Kyle Monangai stepped up with a huge performance, carrying the ball 26 times for 176 yards.
Bears coach Ben Johnson mentioned that he plans to give each running back some carries early in the game and then ride the hot hand. This means that even if Swift is fully healthy, he may not receive his full normal workload.
Monangai has proven he can make a big impact on the offense, giving the Bears two running backs they can confidently rely on moving forward.

Klay Thompson a late addition to injury report, won’t play vs. Wizards
At 2-7, the Dallas Mavericks hold the worst record in the Western Conference to start the 2025-26 NBA season. As they look to snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday against the Washington Wizards, the team will be even more short-handed than usual, with Klay Thompson added late to the injury report.
Thompson was officially listed as out for the Mavericks’ game against the Wizards due to an illness, according to ClutchPoints’ official Mavericks reporter Joey Mistretta. This will mark the first game Thompson has missed this season.
In addition to Thompson’s absence, the Mavericks are already facing frontcourt challenges. Dereck Lively II is sidelined with a knee injury, while Anthony Davis and Daniel Gafford are both listed as questionable for the upcoming game against Washington.
Thompson is in his second year with Dallas after signing as a free agent last offseason. So far this season, he has appeared in nine games, averaging just about 20 minutes per game—a career low. His stats include 7.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, with shooting splits of 31.6 percent from the field, 26.4 percent from three-point range, and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line.

Cubs Extend Qualifying Offers to Shota Imanaga, Kyle Tucker
The Chicago Cubs made both a no-brainer and a questionable decision Thursday regarding their 2026 roster moves.
Chicago extended a qualifying offer (QO) to both starting pitcher Shota Imanaga and outfielder Kyle Tucker. This year’s qualifying offer is valued at $22.05 million. If both players decline the offer, the Cubs will receive compensatory draft picks in return.
Extending the qualifying offer to Kyle Tucker was an easy decision. It’s an almost guaranteed way for Chicago to secure an extra draft pick. Tucker is expected to command close to $400 million in free agency, making the chances of him accepting the Cubs’ $22.05 million offer roughly 0.0001%.
On the other hand, the qualifying offer to Shota Imanaga was more surprising given the current situation between him and the organization. Just a few days prior, the Cubs declined a $15 million option on Imanaga’s contract, which allowed the left-hander the opportunity to pick up a $15 million option of his own. Unexpectedly, Imanaga declined that option, choosing to become a free agent after only two seasons in Chicago.
It’s a bit shocking that the Cubs would essentially offer Imanaga a $7 million pay raise after his struggles in the second half of the season. Considering his performance, it’s unlikely Imanaga would command more than $22.05 million in free agency, which makes it plausible that he might accept the qualifying offer and spend at least one more season with Chicago.
Declining the option may place Imanaga in a challenging position this winter as he looks to sign his second Major League Baseball contract.
The most likely outcome appears to be Tucker declining his qualifying offer, while Imanaga accepts his, giving the Cubs one extra pick in next year’s MLB draft.

Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens predictions, odds, and picks for Week 9 TNF clash
The Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens are gearing up for a highly anticipated showdown on Thursday Night Football, and it promises to be an exciting contest. The Ravens enter this game at 3-5, facing a de facto elimination scenario, while Miami head coach Mike McDaniel is looking to strengthen his case to avoid the dreaded Black Monday after a rocky start to the season. Although much can change in the second half of the year for both teams, everything begins here and now.
### Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens: Game Details
– **Fixture:** Dolphins at Ravens on TNF
– **Date & Time:** Thursday, October 30 at 8:15 PM EST
– **Venue:** Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
– **Spread:** Dolphins (+7.5)
– **Moneyline:** Ravens (-425), Dolphins (+325)
– **Total (Over/Under):** 50.5
### Betting Insights
One of the most intriguing bets for this game is wagering on Lamar Jackson to score a touchdown at any time. Jackson, as the Ravens’ quarterback, frequently finds the end zone, and Miami’s defense has shown vulnerabilities, making an early score likely. Betting on Jackson to score in the first quarter is also appealing.
Multiple anytime touchdown bets could be smart plays. Running back De’Von Achane has scored in all but two games this season, making him a strong candidate to find the end zone again. Derrick Henry is also a prime option to score during the game, especially with Jackson’s dual-threat ability keeping Miami’s defense honest.
### Injury Report
**Miami Dolphins**
– TE Julian Hill (Ankle) — Out
– S Ashtyn Davis (Quad) — Questionable
– LB Bradley Chubb (Shoulder/Foot) — Questionable
– WR Dee Eskridge (Shoulder) — Questionable
– CB Jason Marshall Jr. (Hamstring) — Questionable
– S Ifeatu Melifonwu (Thumb) — Questionable
**Baltimore Ravens**
– LB Adisa Isaac (Elbow) — Questionable
### Head-to-Head History
Baltimore and Miami have met 19 times, with the Ravens holding a slim series lead of 11-8. The Dolphins have won two of the last three matchups but suffered a heavy loss to Baltimore, 56-19, on New Year’s Eve 2023. Miami will be eager to turn the tide and get back on track in this rivalry.
### Week 9 Prediction
The Ravens enter this matchup healthier than they have been recently, while the Dolphins are coping with several key injuries, including at the quarterback position with Tua Tagovailoa. Though Baltimore has had the edge in recent meetings, the game being played at Miami’s home stadium and the Dolphins’ traditionally high-powered offense suggest a shootout.
Expect a fast-paced, high-scoring affair with both teams putting up points. Ultimately, the Ravens’ revitalized Lamar Jackson will lead the way, helping Baltimore secure a win and leaving Miami to slide further down the standings.
**Final Score Prediction:** Ravens 40, Dolphins 32
Stay tuned for a thrilling Thursday Night Football clash as these two teams battle for momentum in the 2024 NFL season.

Mavericks’ Daniel Gafford downgraded on injury report before Raptors game
The Dallas Mavericks will be without one of their centers for a third consecutive game on Sunday night. After initially being listed as doubtful to play due to a right ankle sprain, Daniel Gafford has been downgraded to out for Sunday’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors, according to the NBA injury report.
Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum remain out as well, while Brandon Williams is listed as out due to personal reasons.
Gafford suffered the injury before the season and has yet to make his regular season debut. An official timeline for his return has not been revealed. Head coach Jason Kidd previously refused to rule Gafford out for the season opener. He has been listed as doubtful or questionable on each injury report so far during the regular season, but has not played in a game yet.
The fact that he was not initially listed as out on a consistent basis was seemingly an encouraging sign, but there is still uncertainty overall.
The Mavericks could certainly use Gafford’s help. Dallas is 0-2 so far to begin the 2025-26 campaign. It’s been an extremely disappointing start to the year, and the struggles have unfortunately overshadowed Cooper Flagg’s promising beginning to his career.
At the center position, Dereck Lively II has been starting with Anthony Davis at the four. Davis has played the center role in smaller lineups, while Dwight Powell has come off the bench at times. Gafford will likely serve as Lively’s backup once he returns from injury.
The Mavericks will attempt to earn their first win of the season on Sunday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.

Cowboys are down at least 3 offensive linemen, and maybe 4, against Jets
FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys will be without at least three starters on their offensive line, and possibly four, when they visit the New York Jets.
Left tackle Tyler Guyton is in the concussion protocol and was ruled out of Sunday’s game, sidelining him along with center Cooper Beebe (foot) and rookie right guard Tyler Booker (high ankle sprain). Standout left guard Tyler Smith is questionable with a knee injury, having not practiced all week. The only healthy starter remaining on the line is right tackle Terence Steele.
Nate Thomas will start in Guyton’s place. This will be the first career start for the second-year player, who missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury. Brock Hoffman will start in place of Beebe, who is on injured reserve and will miss the third of at least four games. Booker will be out for the second week in a row. T.J. Bass replaced Booker in last week’s 40-40 tie with Green Bay. If Smith can’t play, Bass may move to left guard, with either Trevor Keegan or Hakeem Adeniji likely filling the fifth starting spot on the line.
In addition to the offensive line injuries, the Cowboys will be without receiver and kick returner KaVontae Turpin, who has been ruled out with a foot injury. No. 1 receiver CeeDee Lamb will miss his second game due to a high ankle sprain.
Dallas will also be without a fifth starter on defense—safety Malik Hooker, who injured a toe against the Packers. It appears Hooker will miss multiple games.
Running back Miles Sanders is questionable with knee and ankle injuries, opening the door for rookie Jaydon Blue to be active for the first time.
