The draft design of the coin, overseen by the Office of the US Treasurer Brandon Beach, features Trump’s profile on one side. The opposite side depicts Trump with a clenched fist in front of an American flag alongside the words “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT,” as reported by Politico.

“Despite the radical left’s forced shutdown of our government, the facts are clear: Under the historic leadership of President Donald J. Trump, our nation is entering its 250th anniversary stronger, more prosperous, and better than ever before,” a Treasury Department spokesperson said in a statement.

“While a final USD 1 coin design has not yet been selected to commemorate the United States’ semiquincentennial, this first draft reflects well the enduring spirit of our country and democracy, even in the face of immense obstacles,” the spokesperson added.

Congress passed bipartisan legislation in 2020, signed by Trump during his first term, authorizing the Treasury Secretary to issue one-dollar coins during the 2026 calendar year. The design of these coins must be “emblematic of the United States semiquincentennial,” according to Politico.

It is notable that living people are rarely featured on US currency. Congress has imposed various restrictions on the Treasury’s ability to feature living individuals, including living presidents, on money. It remains unclear whether the latest Trump coin envisioned by the Treasury Department would comply with these laws.

When asked about the coin on Friday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters she was unsure whether Trump was aware of the effort to put his likeness on a coin. “I’m not sure if he’s seen it but I’m sure he’ll love it,” she said, according to Politico.

Double standards are clearly in evidence,” he said. Jaishankar stressed that while peace enables development, threatening development cannot facilitate peace. He said that making energy and other essentials more uncertain in an economically fragile situation helps no one, and called for moving the needle towards dialogue and diplomacy, “not in the opposite direction towards further complications”. In any conflict situation, there will be a few who have the ability to engage both sides and such countries can be utilised by the international community, both to achieve peace and to maintain it thereafter, he said. “So even as we attempt to address complex threats to peace, the value of encouraging a buy-in from those supportive of such goals should be appreciated,” he said. Macron noted that Trump appeared mobilized and quoted the US leader’s statement to the General Assembly earlier that day: “I want peace, I will solve this conflict.”

He added, “Who wants the Nobel Peace Prize? The Nobel Peace Prize is only possible if you stop this conflict. You need to pressure the Israeli government so it stops, it stops the Gaza conflict, so we finally release the hostages” held by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Despite France’s recent recognition of a Palestinian state at the General Assembly—a move strongly opposed by both Trump and Israel—Macron acknowledged that Washington holds the main leverage over Israel.

“Why can he (the US president) do more than us? We do not deliver arms to Israel that allow the Gaza conflict to be waged,” Macron said.

He further highlighted that a Palestinian state “will truly be created on the day the State of Israel recognises it.”

There have been concerns that Israel might retaliate against France’s recognition by possibly closing the French consulate in Jerusalem, widely used by Palestinians, or by annexing parts of the occupied West Bank.

“We are ready. We have planned for all possible options, which means we will never remain inert. We just plan things and we will always defend France’s interests,” Macron stated, without providing more details.

The current conflict erupted on October 7, 2023, following a Hamas attack on Israel. Israel has since responded with military assaults and aid blockades on the Gaza Strip.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced early Thursday that he plans to designate antifa as a major terrorist organization. On Wednesday night, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) praised the announcement, stating: “Antifa seized upon a movement of legitimate grievances to promote violence and anarchy, working against justice for all. The President is right to recognize the destructive role of Antifa by designating them domestic terrorists.”

Cassidy, along with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), introduced a resolution in July 2019 condemning the violent acts of antifa and calling to designate the group as a domestic terror organization.

During the 2020 George Floyd protests, Trump also raised the idea of designating antifa as a terror organization. However, Trump’s former FBI Director Christopher Wray testified that year that antifa is an ideology rather than an organization, lacking the hierarchical structure typically required for federal terrorism designation.
