The Dallas Mavericks are striving to play a quality brand of basketball while navigating the vocal backlash from a frustrated fanbase. It’s not uncommon to hear “Fire Nico” chants at the American Airlines Center—a direct reference to Mavs general manager Nico Harrison’s controversial decision to trade Luka Doncic last season.

However, there is another emerging challenge facing this Mavericks squad: injuries. Over the past couple of seasons, injuries have been a lingering issue for the team. Anthony Davis, acquired as part of the Doncic trade a season ago, has been especially injury-prone. While some have speculated whether Davis might be traded if the team decides to rebuild, it’s extremely unlikely to happen this season. Currently, Davis is sidelined with an injury. Though unfortunate, it’s not surprising given his history. The Mavericks understood the risks when they made the trade.

The injury concerns that are increasingly grabbing attention, however, revolve around Dereck Lively II.

These little details won’t change how you play Battlefield 6, but most make playing it a more enjoyable and, sometimes, immersive experience.

Pull Out Your Class Gadget or Knife to Run Faster

If you’ve ever seen your teammates running out of spawn or toward an objective with their knife out, it’s because you run about 10-15% faster while doing so. You are, of course, completely helpless if you encounter an enemy with a gun. Provided you’re sure it’s safe, you will get where you’re going much faster.

The melee speed boost does not apply when you’re using the sledgehammer, as that somehow makes more sense than the knife bonus. You run faster with both the default knife and the one you get for completing the campaign.

One thing to note is the speed boost also applies to holding most class gadgets, like the Repair Tool and Defibrillator, so if you’re running a sledgehammer, pulling out either will get your feet a-movin’.

Holding Down the Defib Paddle Until It Beeps Revives Teammates at Full Health

Sure, you can simply press the defib button quickly to spam revive an entire legion of downed teammates, but they’ll all come back at 50% health. If you hold down the defib use button for a few seconds, however, you’ll hear a high-pitched beep.

Reviving someone after you hear the beep brings that teammate back at 100% health, ensuring they’re as ready for a fight as they can be. Note that Support players can drag revive twice as fast as other classes, and dragging also revives at 100% health.

Neither function reloads your teammate’s weapons, sadly, so if their gun is empty, that will quickly become a problem.

Shooting Enemy Tanks in the Back Armor Does Much More Damage

We go into greater detail about this in our guide on how to destroy tanks, but every type of tank has weaker armor in the rear — weak enough that you deal double damage with any launcher that can actually strike it.

I’d recommend sticking to the RPG-7V2, as it has the highest raw DPS in the game.

You Can Overflow Your Default Gadget Inventory Limit Using a Support Supply Bag

Running out of rockets before you can destroy an enemy vehicle is the worst feeling as an Engineer. Did you know that if you stand next to a Support Supply Bag for a little while, you can get more than your starting amount of rockets and other consumable gadgets?

You can have up to five RPG shots, six mines, and so on. This mechanic applies to other class gadgets as well, including Assault grenade launchers, Recon C-4, etc.

You Can Strap C-4 to a Recon Drone and Fly It Over to a Tank, Then Blow It Up

It sounds silly, and it is, but once you unlock C-4 as a Recon, you can deploy your Recon Drone, strap some explosives to it, and then fly it over a tank and destroy it.

There are a couple of catches, however. First, the extra weight eats through the drone’s battery incredibly fast, so your range is limited. Second, the delay between exiting the drone and pulling out the C-4 detonator gives tanks plenty of time to escape the blast.

You’ll need to pick your timing wisely, but obliterating tanks using the Recon Drone is hilarious every time. You can also use the drone to detonate mines from a distance, but that’s less fun.

There’s an Anti-Camper Button That Activates the Smokestack on Operation Firestorm

While I’ve not encountered too many Recon players sitting on the top of the highest smokestack on Operation Firestorm, there is a way to get any and all of them off it built into the map.

Near the base of the stack on the Conquest C flag is a button that says “Warning Valve Purge.” Pressing it causes the stack to spew out massive gouts of fire, burning anything at its highest reaches to a crisp.

You Can Pick Up Your Supply Bag as a Support to Lower the Cooldown of Your Next One

The Supply Bag is one of the most powerful and universally useful gadgets in Battlefield 6, but its default cooldown is restrictive to say the least.

If you interact with one you put down, but before that cooldown ends, you’ll pick the bag up and almost clear the timer entirely. You’ll therefore always want to pick up your bag, whether you’re using it to heal yourself or others.

You Can Resupply Off a Support Player’s Back

Are your Support teammates never dropping Supply Bags? You’re not alone, but the developers thought of that. If you run up to a Support, you can interact with their in-game character and get a one-time resupply without their input.

You Can Destroy Enemy Equipment with a Recon Drone

If you fly your Recon Drone within 40 meters of enemy equipment — Deploy Beacons, Mines, Target Designators, etc. — you can destroy them by aiming at them and pressing the Fire button.

Destroying mines and other lethal equipment causes them to explode, and if an enemy player is within the lethal radius, they’ll die to their own teammate’s equipment. Kudos to Jackfrags for showcasing that little detail.

You Can Move Slowly in a Tank to Avoid Activating Mines

At the bottom of the screen, when you’re driving a tank, you’ll see the command for Crawl. Holding down that button causes your tank to move much slower, and you won’t set off mines so long as you move at that reduced speed.

You Can Destroy Vehicles with the Sledgehammer

The sledgehammer can deal damage to vehicles like it can destructible parts of the environment. You won’t be doing much damage, but find a particularly oblivious tank or truck driver and even Support players have options against armor.

This strategy technically works on jets and helicopters, but unless they add a wingsuit to BF6, you probably won’t be sledging any air vehicles anytime soon.

If You’re on Fire, Go Prone to Put It Out

Battlefield Studios was listening in fire safety class, because if someone throws an incendiary grenade at you or you’re otherwise on fire, diving to prone puts it out. Stop, drop, and “roll” indeed.

Shoot the Concrete Tube and Crane Counterweight to Drop Them on Mirak Valley

You can bring down the crane between the C and D Conquest points on Mirak Valley, as well as the concrete cylinder hanging from it.

Shooting a single rocket or a lot of bullets will bring down the cylinder, but it takes two rockets and even more bullets to bring down the crane. Both are lethal to anyone unfortunate enough to be in the middle when they land.

Louisiana prison guards cut a Rastafari inmate’s dreadlocks. Supreme Court will decide if he can sue

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday wrestled with whether a former Louisiana inmate can sue prison officials who cut off his dreadlocks in violation of his Rastafari religious beliefs.

The justices heard arguments in the case of Damon Landor, who wants to sue for money damages under a federal law designed to protect the religious rights of inmates. After two hours of arguments, the court’s three liberal justices seemed firmly on Landor’s side. But it was unclear whether even one of the six conservatives, let alone the two who would be necessary for a majority, would join them.

No one is defending what happened to Landor in 2020 when guards cut the dreadlocks he had been growing for nearly two decades. However, Louisiana argues that the law—the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA)—cannot be used to hold those who violate inmates’ rights financially responsible. Lower courts have so far uniformly ruled against Landor and others who have made similar claims.

“Look, the facts of this case are egregious,” Justice Amy Coney Barrett said. But Barrett also expressed concern that every court that has weighed in “went the other way.”

The justices could be guided by their decision in 2020 allowing Muslim men to sue over their inclusion on the FBI’s no-fly list under a sister statute, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). Interestingly, the Justice Department, which argued against the plaintiffs in the no-fly list case during President Donald Trump’s first administration, now agrees with Landor.

When Landor entered the prison system for a five-month term in 2020, he carried a copy of an appeals court ruling from another inmate’s case holding that cutting religious prisoners’ dreadlocks violated the federal law. At his first two stops, officials respected his beliefs. But things changed when he arrived at the Raymond Laborde Correctional Center in Cottonport, about 80 miles (130 kilometers) northwest of Baton Rouge, for the final three weeks of his term.

According to court records, a prison guard took the copy of the ruling Landor carried and tossed it in the trash. Then the warden ordered guards to cut his dreadlocks. While two guards restrained him, a third shaved his head to the scalp.

Landor sued after his release, but lower courts dismissed the case. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lamented Landor’s treatment but said the law doesn’t allow him to hold prison officials liable for damages. Louisiana stated that “the state has amended its prison grooming policy to ensure that nothing like petitioner’s alleged experience can occur.”

The Rastafari faith is rooted in 1930s Jamaica, growing as a response by Black people to white colonial oppression. Its beliefs are a melding of Old Testament teachings and a desire to return to Africa. The faith’s message was spread worldwide in the 1970s by Jamaican music icons Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, two of Rastafari’s most famous exponents.

A decision in *Landor v. Louisiana Department of Corrections*, 23-1197, is expected by spring.
