‘Kiss’ excuse fails to absolve tennis player in drug test

LONDON — A professional tennis player who claimed that a kiss led to a positive methamphetamine drug test has been suspended for four years by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

Goncalo Oliveira, who represents Venezuela, was provisionally suspended in January after testing positive in November 2024. The positive test occurred while he was competing at the ATP Challenger event in Manzanillo.
