‘Halo is on PlayStation going forward’ says franchise’s Community Director

Halo Studios marked the end of one era and the beginning of another last week with a major announcement: Halo: Campaign Evolved. This Unreal Engine 5 remake of the first Halo game is set to release next year on Xbox, PC, and for the first time ever, the PS5.

In confirming the PS5 release for Halo: Campaign Evolved, Halo Studios also revealed that future Halo games will be available on PlayStation as well. Halo Community Director Brian Jarrard made the announcement on stage at the Halo World Championships, stating, “Halo is on PlayStation going forward, starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved.” Notably, he wore a t-shirt featuring the PlayStation logo during his announcement, underscoring the significance of this shift.

The news of Halo coming to PlayStation sent shockwaves through the gaming community. The official PlayStation post welcoming the franchise garnered over 12 million impressions on X, reflecting immense excitement and engagement among fans.

In response to this landmark development, GameStop boldly declared the “Console Wars” over. What this means is that any new entries in the Halo series moving forward will launch on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms—whether that’s the PS5 or the inevitable PS6.

While we are likely still a few years away from the follow-up to Halo Infinite, one thing is clear: the future of Halo is no longer exclusive to Xbox. Fans can look forward to enjoying Halo on both their Xbox and PlayStation consoles in the years to come.
