Fed Governor Miran Calls for 50 bps Rate Cut in December

Federal Reserve Governor Stephen Miran has called for a 50 basis point rate cut at the Federal Reserve’s December meeting, stating that a 25 basis point reduction should be the minimum. Speaking in a CNBC interview, Miran emphasized that the central bank needs to act based on future economic projections rather than solely on current data.

Miran has been the sole dissenter on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) this year. He voted against the smaller 25 basis point cuts implemented at both the September and October meetings, advocating for larger reductions. He pointed to signs of weakness in both inflation and employment, urging policymakers to focus on where the economy will be in 12 to 18 months, as monetary policy changes typically take over a year to fully impact the economy. “If you’re making policy for what the data are now, you’re backward looking,” Miran explained.

Market expectations currently favor another rate cut in December. According to CME FedWatch data, there is a 62.6% probability of a 25 basis point reduction at the December 10 FOMC meeting. Meanwhile, there is a 37.4% chance that rates will remain unchanged.

### Split Among Fed Officials

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has made clear that a December rate cut is not guaranteed. Fed officials remain divided on whether to hold rates steady or ease further. Some are concerned about persistent inflation, while others are focused on signs of a softening labor market.

San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly highlighted the need for an open mind ahead of the December meeting. In an essay, Daly pointed to the shifting balance of risks between inflation and labor market conditions. She noted that although inflation has gradually declined, it remains elevated, while the labor market has softened significantly this year. While Daly did not specify her stance on the upcoming decision, her comments suggest she is weighing both sides of the debate.

### Divergent Views on the Pace of Policy Easing

Fed Governor Chris Waller supports further rate cuts but believes that the Fed’s current pace of quarter-point reductions is appropriate. Unlike Miran, Waller does not see the need for larger cuts at this time.

So far this year, the Fed has cut interest rates twice, each by 25 basis points—once in September and again in October. The October reduction, made just two weeks ago, set the stage for December’s meeting to be a critical decision point for the central bank’s monetary policy.

Miran acknowledged that his position could change depending on new economic data. He noted that information released between now and the December meeting could influence his views.

### Looking Ahead to December 10

Market odds for a December rate cut have declined slightly in recent days but still remain above 60%. The FOMC meeting on December 10 will be a decisive moment, as Fed officials review fresh economic data before determining whether to implement a third rate cut this year.

As the Fed weighs the complex balance between controlling inflation and supporting employment, investors and observers will keenly watch for signals on the central bank’s next move.

Trent Boult picks 6-a-side team ahead of SA20 2025-26; chooses Pakistan pacer and not Jasprit Bumrah

The veteran seamer Trent Boult revealed his dream six-a-side cricket team, starting with his first pick: Rohit Sharma. Boult described Rohit as one of the best-ever batters to watch. Rohit led the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2020 and 2021, with Boult playing a key role in the lineup. The duo reunited last season when the Kiwi pacer returned to the franchise in the IPL 2025 auction.

Rohit Sharma holds several impressive records, including being the joint-record holder for the most IPL titles as captain, having won five. He is also the only batter in the sport to score three double-centuries in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Additionally, the right-hander is the all-time leader in ODI World Cup centuries, with seven. Rohit further showcased his leadership by leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Boult’s second pick was the former West Indian opener, Chris Gayle. Gayle is the all-time leading run-scorer in T20 cricket, amassing 14,562 runs, including 22 centuries. He played a vital role in the West Indies’ title wins in the 2012 and 2016 T20 World Cups.

Next, Boult selected himself at No. 3. Having picked up over 600 wickets in international cricket, the left-arm pacer ranks third all-time in wickets among New Zealand bowlers. He was instrumental in helping New Zealand win the 2021 World Test Championship (WTC) title.

To complete his dream team, Boult opted for two pacers and one spinner. As the lone spinner, he chose former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne. Warne is the second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history, with 708 wickets and an incredible 37 five-wicket hauls. He also played a key role in Australia’s 1999 ODI World Cup victory, earning Player of the Match honors in both the semifinal and final.

In a somewhat unexpected choice, Boult selected Mohammed Shami as one of his two pace bowlers instead of the widely chosen Jasprit Bumrah, who also played alongside Boult for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025. Shami ranks fifth among all-time wicket-takers in ODI World Cups, with 55 scalps at an average of 13.52, including a record four five-wicket hauls.

Finally, Boult’s last pick was Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, who boasts over 100 wickets across all three formats in international cricket.

This well-rounded lineup reflects Boult’s appreciation for both explosive batting and impactful bowling, blending legends from various eras and backgrounds into his ultimate cricket team.

Hoskinson Affirms Cardano ISO 20022 Support as Deadline Nears

Charles Hoskinson Reaffirms Cardano’s Support for ISO 20022 Ahead of SWIFT Migration Deadline

Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Cardano (ADA), has reaffirmed the blockchain network’s support for the ISO 20022 global banking standard. This announcement aligns Cardano with other major digital assets such as XRP, HBAR, and ALGO, as the financial industry approaches a critical deadline. The statement comes just 13 days before SWIFT’s hard migration deadline on November 22, marking a significant moment for global banking and payment systems.

### The Significance of ISO 20022 and SWIFT’s Migration

ISO 20022 is a unified data messaging standard designed to modernize and harmonize financial communications worldwide. It replaces older, text-based formats with structured, metadata-rich messages, improving cross-border wire transfers, securities settlements, and institutional payment messaging. The new standard enables faster, clearer, and more transparent communication between banks, payment processors, and digital asset networks.

The deadline set by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) on November 22 marks the end of the “co-existence period,” during which the old MT and new MX message formats operated side-by-side. After this date, all transactions must comply with CBPR+ (Cross-Border Payments and Reporting Plus) guidelines.

### Industry Challenges and Delays

The global rollout of ISO 20022 has faced several delays. Originally scheduled for November 2021, the migration was postponed multiple times over five years due to challenges in upgrading legacy infrastructure. SWIFT’s recent confirmation of a hard deadline emphasizes that no further extensions will be granted.

Despite this firm timeline, readiness varies widely across regions. A June report from Central Banking revealed that fewer than half of the 49 surveyed central banks were fully compliant with the standard, while about 6% had only partial upgrades. Europe leads adoption under the MiCA regulatory framework, with systems such as TARGET2 and EBA Clearing completing their transition in March 2023, aligning with SWIFT’s CBPR+ guidelines that cover payment initiation, clearing, and cash management.

### Cardano’s Position Among ISO 20022-Compliant Blockchains

Hoskinson described ISO 20022 as “necessary to open banking and combining the TradFi and DeFi worlds.” He emphasized Cardano’s role, stating that ADA “is glad to be holding the line with XRP, HBAR, ALGO, and others.”

According to Hoskinson, certain blockchain networks are poised to benefit from the growing importance of ISO 20022 compliance. These include XRP, XLM, ADA, HBAR, ALGO, QNT, and IOTA. These assets are recognized for their utility in cross-border payments, institutional settlements, and enhancing interoperability between traditional finance and decentralized systems.

### Bridging Traditional Finance and DeFi

The alignment of Cardano and other compliant blockchains with ISO 20022 positions them as crucial “bridge” assets in the evolving global financial ecosystem. Their ability to support automated, data-rich financial communication aligns perfectly with the goals of the new banking standard, offering opportunities as the industry moves toward a more integrated and efficient payment landscape.

As the November 22 deadline approaches, Cardano’s reaffirmation of ISO 20022 support signals its commitment to fostering innovation and interoperability in both traditional and decentralized finance sectors. This pivotal moment highlights the growing importance of blockchain networks in shaping the future of global financial communications.

Bitcoin Short-Term Holders Increase Holdings Despite Losses

**Bitcoin Short-Term Holders Increase Holdings by 24.7% Since August Amid Market Turmoil**

CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr has reported a significant 24.7% increase in Bitcoin short-term holders’ assets since August, bringing their total holdings to 5.4 million BTC. This growth highlights persistent market entry by new investors despite ongoing unrealized losses in their portfolios.

An increase of approximately 1 million BTC in holdings among Bitcoin short-term holders since August underscores sustained investor interest amid prevailing market volatility. According to Adler Jr, this rise reflects continuous inflows from new market participants who are willing to accumulate Bitcoin even as the market faces challenges.

Despite these notable gains, short-term holders continue to experience realized losses, illustrating the risk environment they navigate. Market dynamics remain cautious, influenced further by substantial outflows from Bitcoin ETFs. Notably, over a billion dollars exited Bitcoin ETFs in a single day, signaling heightened risk aversion among institutional investors.

> “The latest data shows that short-term holders have increased their holdings substantially since August, even as they remain at a realized loss. This suggests persistent inflows from new market participants, despite the risk environment and recent price downturn.”
> — Axel Adler Jr, Analyst, CryptoQuant

### Market Caution and Potential Opportunities

Experts note that during recent periods of market volatility, the short-term holder segment saw its largest influx since previous capitulation events. Historically, such phases often attract patient investors who accumulate strategically, anticipating future gains.

According to CoinMarketCap data, Bitcoin (BTC) is currently priced at $105,250.05, with a market capitalization of approximately $2.099 trillion. Bitcoin dominates 59.24% of the cryptocurrency market. Over the last 24 hours, trading volume reached $70.49 billion, reflecting a 3.30% change. Despite the recent volatility, Bitcoin’s price has declined by 11.85% over the past 90 days.

This combination of increased short-term holder activity and significant ETF outflows paints a complex picture of cautious optimism amid ongoing market uncertainty. Investors and analysts will continue watching these dynamics for clues about Bitcoin’s near-term trajectory.

Heat’s Erik Spoelstra reveals how Andrew Wiggins’ game-winning dunk vs. Cavs was 4 years in the making

MIAMI — As the Miami Heat pulled off an overtime stunner against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, 140-138, the victory was capped off by an explosive buzzer-beater dunk by Andrew Wiggins.

With the Heat getting revenge on the Cavs after last season’s playoff sweep, this quality win was especially sweet. The key personnel involved shared insights on how the game-winning play was drawn up and executed.

The game seemed destined to stretch into double overtime after Donovan Mitchell hit a tough three-pointer. However, Miami had other plans. With just 0.4 seconds left on the clock, Nikola Jovic delivered a perfect pass over the rim. Donovan Mitchell set a crucial screen, and Norman Powell faked out the Cleveland defense to free up Wiggins for the decisive bucket.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra revealed that the play had been in the team’s playbook for four years, titled “CQ,” named after assistant coach Chris Quinn, who originally drew it up. “When it got to that point, [Quinn] said, ‘Hey, we should run that.’ I said, ‘You know what? There’s no better person than to diagram it than the one who came up with the dang thing,’” Spoelstra said.

“It worked beautifully. I thought [Powell] sold it really well. Then [Wiggins] made a great cut, and [Jovic] just put it right on the lip of the rim. Couldn’t have made a better pass.”

“It was a classic game, a lot of fun to be a part of. It’s better when you get the win. It was just play after play. I felt like we were making a ton of plays, but they were scoring, making plays, or getting offensive rebounds and knocking down big shots, but we showed some grit.”

### Wiggins Credits Team Effort

Andrew Wiggins, the star of the show with 23 points on Monday night, credited everyone involved in executing the game-winning play. “The coaches drew up a great play. [Jovic] gave me an amazing, perfect pass. [Mitchell] got me open with a great screen, and I was there to finish the job,” Wiggins said.

“I’m happy that we could get this win. It was a hard-fought victory, and hopefully, we can do the same when we play them again in a couple of days. I knew I was so open; I was just focused on catching the ball and putting it in.”

### Standout Performances Beyond Wiggins

Norman Powell kept the Heat afloat with a team-high 33 points despite Miami missing key players Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.

Other notable contributions came from Jaime Jaquez Jr., who scored 22 points, grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, and recorded seven assists. Kel’el Ware also made a significant impact, posting a career-high 20 rebounds alongside 14 points.

### Nikola Jovic’s Crucial Role

Following a career game on Saturday, Nikola Jovic continued his momentum with eight points, eight rebounds, and four assists against Cleveland—including the pivotal assist on the buzzer-beater dunk.

Jovic detailed the huddle discussions and matchup adjustments before the final play. Initially, Evan Mobley was assigned to guard him on the inbound, but the Cavs switched to Donovan Mitchell.

“As we got to the huddle, I kind of expected I was going to throw the pass,” Jovic explained. “At first, I was confused because Coach Spo just handed the board to [Quinn]. We got out of the huddle, and they didn’t know who was guarding who. First, they put Mobley on me.”

“I thought that was good for them because the pass would be hard to throw. Then, when they switched and put Donovan on me, I thought, ‘Okay, well, I got a smaller guy I can throw the pass over.’ When I saw they put Mobley on Jaime and looked at [Wiggins], I knew it was going to work.”

“So as soon as they screened for him, I knew I had to throw it perfectly at the rim to give him just enough time to put it in.”

### Heat Continue Home Dominance

The Heat improve to 7-4 overall and remain undefeated at home this season with a perfect 5-0 record at the Kaseya Center. They now look to extend their winning streak to four games and six consecutive home victories when they face the Cavaliers again on Wednesday.

With teamwork, strategic plays, and grit, Miami is showing it’s ready to build momentum and push forward this NBA season.
