Democrat Breaks with Party, Backs Trump Admin on Air Traffic Reductions During Shutdown [WATCH]

Democratic Rep. Greg Stanton of Arizona is siding with the Trump administration over its decision to scale back air traffic operations amid the prolonged government shutdown, which has now entered its 38th day, as reported by Fox News.

The reduction in air traffic operations is expected to increase to 10% by November 14 if lawmakers fail to reach a deal to reopen the government. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that the order was necessary to “maintain the highest standards of safety” during ongoing staffing shortages caused by the shutdown.

Among the affected airports is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which serves Stanton’s district and is Arizona’s largest airport.

“Safety must always be the highest priority,” Stanton said in a statement Thursday evening. “The decision by Secretary Duffy to reduce flights at America’s 40 busiest airports is the right call for the safety of the flying public,” he added in a post on X.

“Now it’s critical that Republicans and Democrats get together and reach a bipartisan agreement on a plan to reduce health costs and end the shutdown. Arizona deserves better, and so do the hardworking professionals who keep our skies safe.”

The shutdown has furloughed thousands of federal employees, while essential personnel—including air traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers—continue to work without pay. Many have been forced to take second jobs or call out sick, placing additional strain on the transportation system.

In Washington, where two major airports are also affected by the FAA’s order, Democratic leaders are holding firm on demands that any government funding deal include an extension of COVID-19-era enhanced Obamacare subsidies set to expire at the end of the year.

Republicans have rejected tying partisan health care provisions to the budget agreement, arguing that it would further delay reopening the government. Stanton was among the House Democrats who voted against the GOP’s funding proposal when it passed the House on September 19.

His support for the administration’s safety directive now places him at odds with his party’s leadership as bipartisan Senate negotiations continue without a clear resolution in sight.

Google warns North Korea, Iran, and China are using AI to enhance cyberattacks

A new report from Google’s Threat Analysis Group (GTAG) reveals that state-backed hackers from North Korea, Iran, and China are actively experimenting with and optimizing cyberattacks using artificial intelligence (AI) tools—specifically, Google’s Gemini.

According to Google, multiple state-affiliated groups have been leveraging its large language models for a variety of malicious activities, including reconnaissance, social engineering, malware development, and enhancing all stages of their operations. These stages range from reconnaissance and phishing lure creation to command and control (C2) development and data exfiltration.

### AI-Enabled Sophistication in Cyberattacks

The report uncovers evidence of novel and sophisticated AI-enabled attacks, warning that generative AI is lowering the technical barriers for malicious operations. AI helps attackers work faster and with greater precision, making cyber threats more dangerous.

This new insight builds on similar warnings from Microsoft and OpenAI, which disclosed comparable experimentation by the same trio of nation-backed threat actors. Additionally, Anthropic—the company behind Claude AI—released a report detailing how it has been detecting and countering AI-assisted attacks, with North Korea-linked groups prominently identified as key perpetrators.

### North Korean State Actors Turn to AI

Google’s latest threat intelligence update provides detailed examples of how these groups misuse AI:

– **Iranian Group TEMP.Zagros (aka MuddyWater)**: Used Gemini to generate and debug malicious code disguised as academic research aimed at developing custom malware. This operation inadvertently exposed critical operational details, allowing Google to disrupt parts of its infrastructure.

– **China-Linked Actors**: Employed Gemini to improve phishing lures, conduct reconnaissance on target networks, and research lateral movement techniques within compromised systems. In some cases, they used Gemini to explore unfamiliar environments such as cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and vSphere, suggesting efforts to expand technical capabilities.

– **North Korean Operators**: Observed probing AI tools to enhance reconnaissance and phishing campaigns. A North Korean threat group known for cryptocurrency theft attempted to use Gemini to write code designed to steal cryptocurrency. Google successfully mitigated these attacks and shut down the involved accounts.

### Anthropic’s Findings on AI Misuse

Anthropic’s report, released in August 2025, supports Google’s findings on AI misuse by state-linked actors. The company found North Korean operatives using its Claude model to pose as remote software developers seeking jobs. They generated resumes, code samples, and technical interview answers with Claude to secure freelance contracts abroad.

While this fraudulent job-seeking behavior was a tactic for gaining access, it potentially paved the way for larger hacking operations against the hiring organizations. Anthropic’s findings reinforce Google’s conclusion that bad actors are systematically testing AI tools for nefarious advantages.

### The Growing Challenge for Cybersecurity

These discoveries present a new challenge for the global cybersecurity community. The very features that make AI models powerful productivity tools also enable them to become potent weapons for harm. As AI technology advances, attackers will continue to adapt, making their tactics increasingly sophisticated.

Governments and technology companies have started responding to these threats. Moving forward, ongoing collaboration among all stakeholders will be essential to mitigate AI-enabled cyberattacks effectively.

The unbearable lightness of getting scammed: Future of full scale cybersecurity

Technology can protect you from certain cyber threats, but it cannot protect you from falling in love with an AI sweetheart carefully created by cybercriminals.

Some of you may remember the late 90s and early 2000s, when peace of mind was achieved simply by installing antivirus software on a PC with an Intel Pentium 4 processor, 80GB hard drive, and Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 graphics card. Those were different times, when for ordinary people like myself, even a mediocre firewall was completely sufficient. It was a world before tempting financial offers from Nigerian princes or news of a generous inheritance from an uncle in the United States, Canada, or Australia you never knew existed. Back then, “scam” wasn’t a buzzword.

But times have changed.

According to the latest CrowdStrike Global Threat Report, 79% of intrusion detections are now malware-free. This means that attackers simply log in with stolen credentials instead of relying on malicious software. With the rapid development and accessibility of AI tools, the ability to launch highly personalized scams and identity theft at scale has only increased.

We are accelerating into a new era of fraud. The AI revolution has shifted cyber threats from cold, abstract malware to the most vulnerable corners of human emotion—love, compassion, fear, loneliness. Basic feelings have become humanity’s greatest security weakness.

### Criminals Focus on Vulnerable Users Online

While malware did not choose its victims, today’s cybercriminals deliberately target the most vulnerable internet users. Grandparents and romance scams, as well as fraudulent job recruitment offers, are among the fastest-growing digital crime categories. News headlines are filled with stories of people swindled out of their life savings after believing in a fake relationship with an AI bot impersonating the person of their dreams.

With vishing attacks increasing by 442% last year, many victims were deceived by voice-cloning scams where fraudsters pretended to be relatives “in trouble.” The FBI’s Internet Crime Report reveals that Americans lost $16 billion to cybercrime in 2024—a 33% increase compared to 2023. The Federal Trade Commission reports a dramatic rise in impersonation scams targeting older adults: combined losses for people aged 60 and over who lost more than $100,000 reached $445 million in 2024, compared to just $55 million in 2020.

Even more concerning, these crimes are now supported by global infrastructure. Fraud centers are being set up in underdeveloped countries, entire villages are dedicated to scams, and organized groups collaborate seamlessly across borders.

### Falling for Scams: No Shame, Just Reality

Many victims feel ashamed of being scammed. It’s understandable—no one wants to appear foolish. But the truth is that scams exploit emotions, not intelligence. Everyone can fall for them. Even cybersecurity professionals sometimes fall victim to social engineering.

Being scammed should be seen as no more shameful than being pickpocketed in Rome or having your house robbed. The stigma must disappear. At some point, becoming a victim of fraud may be as ordinary as experiencing theft in any major city. And just as we protect our homes and belongings to minimize losses, the same approach must shape the future of cybersecurity.

### Cybersecurity Needs to Evolve

Cybersecurity can no longer be limited to blocking malware—it must evolve the way home security has. Technology remains central to this. Despite what I wrote earlier, malware, malicious ads, and digital exploits have not gone away. Failing to install proper protection is like leaving your doors unlocked: you may not be robbed immediately, but eventually it will happen.

Yet, as we know, locked doors alone do not stop burglars. That is why people invest in alarm systems and surveillance. The same logic applies to identity theft. The most sophisticated social engineering and scam attacks usually begin with leaked personal data. If your identity is exposed in a data breach, it becomes a key that unlocks larger fraud attempts. This is why identity monitoring—digital eyes that scan for compromised data—has become increasingly important.

And even if you take every precaution, crimes still happen. That is why homeowners turn to insurance companies for coverage. The same must apply to cybersecurity. As noted earlier, many victims lose their entire savings to scams. Insurance may become the safety net that helps people recover.

According to multiple market projections, the cyber insurance sector is expected to grow 15–25% annually by 2029. In other words, cyber protection is moving in the same direction as home security.

Unfortunately, with the scam industry growing at record speed, we are still lagging behind.

“The fans don’t understand” – Former Liverpool star makes surprise claim about Trent Alexander-Arnold joining Real Madrid

Former Premier League player Jermaine Pennant has criticized Liverpool fans for booing Real Madrid star Trent Alexander-Arnold during his return to Anfield. Pennant believes that the fans do not fully understand the allure of the Spanish club and emphasized that the Englishman had achieved everything at Liverpool before his departure.

Speaking to AS, Pennant acknowledged the passion of Liverpool supporters and understood their disappointment at Alexander-Arnold’s exit. However, he disagreed with the notion that the player abandoned the club and the city.

“It’s difficult because Liverpool fans are so passionate. Obviously, they didn’t like that he left. The fans don’t understand. They think he should stay at Liverpool because it’s more than a club, it’s a family. They feel he has abandoned the club, the city, and the fans. I understand why the fans are upset. Nobody wants to see a great player leave their club, especially when he’s been there so long,” Pennant said.

Highlighting Trent’s achievements, Pennant added that the defender had been brilliant since his academy days and should be celebrated for his career at Anfield. He also explained that it was natural for the player to want to experience a different league.

“The other side of the coin is that he was a great servant of Liverpool. He’d been at the club since he was very young and rose through the ranks to win everything with them. Would they have had the same success without him? He was a great player, but there comes a time in a player’s career when they want to try something different, and the opportunity to play for a club like Real Madrid isn’t something that’s available to most players and is very difficult to turn down. On the other hand, I appreciate that some fans are thanking him for what he’s done and wishing him all the best at Real Madrid,” Pennant added.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has also criticized Liverpool fans for booing Trent Alexander-Arnold during his recent return to Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool for Real Madrid in the summer after running down his contract with the Reds. Initially set to join on a free transfer, Real Madrid paid a £10 million fee to secure his services a month earlier than planned, ahead of their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Since his move, the Englishman has been competing for the right-back position with Dani Carvajal. However, injuries to both players this season have led coach Xabi Alonso to deploy midfielder Federico Valverde in the role.

Alexander-Arnold made his first return to Anfield earlier this month, featuring in the second half of Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat in the UEFA Champions League.

Queen Camilla makes £10k skull addition to outfit – borrowed from late Queen

Queen Camilla, like the Princess of Wales, has an extensive accessory collection, which she often uses to convey subtle messages as well as to enhance her style. One standout example is her frequent choice of a necklace featuring the initials of her four non-royal children—a heartfelt tribute to her family.

On Thursday, 6 November, Queen Camilla attended the 97th annual Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey. The event, organised by the Poppy Factory, holds special significance for the Queen, who has served as its patron for 12 years. This year, however, she chose to wear an accessory rich in both royal history and personal meaning: a very special brooch that once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The brooch is fashioned in the shape of the badge of the Royal Lancers, a regiment with which Queen Camilla’s late father, Major Bruce Shand, served during the Second World War. Major Shand became a highly decorated officer, earning two military crosses during his service. By wearing this brooch, the Queen offered a personal tribute at an event dedicated to national remembrance.

Fine jewellery expert Zack Stone, from UK retailer Steven Stone, commented on the significance of Queen Camilla’s choice:
“It’s heart-warming to see Queen Camilla wearing the Royal Lancers Brooch—not just because it was previously worn by Queen Elizabeth II, but because the Queen’s late father served with the 12th Lancers during World War II. Thus, it’s of even greater sentiment to her.”

Elaborating further, Stone noted:
“King Charles appointed Queen Camilla to be Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Lancers in 2023, strengthening her link to the regiment.”

The brooch’s design also carries rich symbolism. It features a skull and crossbones, known as ‘The Motto’, which has become one of the most recognisable emblems across regiments of the British Army, representing the motto: death or glory. On the details, Stone observed:
“While the skull itself appears to be studded with small diamonds, the red flags are presumed to be embellished with rubies, while sapphires are likely to comprise the scroll at the bottom.”

Given its royal provenance and exquisite design, Stone estimates the brooch’s value at around £10,000.

A tribally personal piece, the brooch is a meaningful nod both to Queen Camilla’s family and to her late father’s distinguished military career. Major Bruce Shand was commissioned into the 12th Royal Lancers in 1937, serving with distinction in France and earning two military crosses during his decade-long career in the army.

By choosing this brooch for the Field of Remembrance, Queen Camilla poignantly intertwined her own story with a moment of shared national reflection.
