NEWSOM RIPS PRESIDENT

Gavin Newsom lashed out at Donald Trump on Monday, holding him responsible for staffing shortages during the government shutdown that left Hollywood Burbank and other airports without air traffic controllers for hours.

Air travelers faced frustrating delays and cancellations Monday evening at Burbank and other U.S. hubs as the government shutdown left air traffic control staff levels stretched thin.

“Thanks, @realDonaldTrump! Burbank Airport has ZERO air traffic controllers from 4:15 pm to 10 pm today because of YOUR government shutdown,” the Governor of California wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

At Burbank, the control tower was unstaffed for almost six hours, with flight operations instead handled remotely by Southern California TRACON, an approach and departure facility based in San Diego. However, no one in the tower had direct eyes on planes landing and taking off, causing concern among already delayed passengers.

It has been six days since the government shutdown began after the Senate failed to pass a bill to fund federal agencies. On Monday, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned the shutdown would put more stress on air traffic controllers, whose jobs are already extremely demanding.

In addition to the delays at Burbank, flights out of Newark Liberty International Airport were delayed Monday evening, and Denver International Airport also experienced delays.

The Republican and Democrat camps have each blamed one another for the crippling shutdown. The standoff centers around a demand by the Democrats regarding the extension of health care subsidies. If these subsidies are cut, it may result in sharply increased costs for millions of low-income Americans.

Trump has blamed the Democrats for blocking his resolution and stated that Republicans will hold out in the stalemate. Democratic members of Congress, in turn, accused Trump and Republicans of blatantly lying about Democratic opposition to a GOP-led government funding plan, particularly concerning claims that Democrats are pushing for healthcare benefits for undocumented immigrants, who cannot legally access federal healthcare programs.

When asked for comment on the shutdown causing travel chaos at airports, the White House press office sent The Independent an automated response reading:
“Please note that responses may be delayed due to the government shutdown caused by congressional Democrats.”

The White House website also features a banner stating “Democrats have shut down the government,” accompanied by a live count of the days and hours since the closure began.

Newsom has been particularly vocal in his efforts to lay the blame for the shutdown at the feet of the Trump administration. Last week, he trolled Trump over news that work will continue on the presidential ballroom despite the government shutdown, comparing him to the historical French queen Marie Antoinette.

“TRUMP MARIE ANTOINETTE SAYS, NO HEALTH CARE FOR YOU PEASANTS, BUT A BALLROOM FOR THE QUEEN!” the California governor’s press office wrote on X, mimicking Trump’s penchant for all-caps social media rants.

During previous U.S. government shutdowns under Barack Obama’s administration, Donald Trump was a vocal critic of the president, saying the situation was “pretty sad” and that “the whole world was laughing at us.”

“Problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top,” he said during a 2013 shutdown. “The president’s the leader and he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.”

Socceroos’ Bos living the dream at boyhood club

Jordy Bos used to watch Feyenoord highlights. Now, at just 22 years old, he is one of the stars of the show. The Socceroos left-back is dominating for his boyhood club, playing under his former idol, and is just eight months away from potentially featuring in his first World Cup.

Bos, one of the pivotal pieces of the Socceroos’ future, is only just scratching the surface of his promising career. Dutch powerhouse Feyenoord, managed by former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Netherlands striker Robin van Persie, currently sit at the top of the Eredivisie table.

Since joining the Rotterdam giants in July, Bos has become the first Australian to win the Eredivisie Player of the Month award. He has also impressed fans by scoring two sublime goals. The former Melbourne City sensation is reaping the rewards of a carefully managed plan to develop his career and play regularly in Europe.

Even Bos admits he can’t believe how well things have gone since his transfer from Belgian club Westerlo, where he battled two bad hamstring injuries last year.

“When I first went there, I didn’t really know what to expect,” Bos said. “But obviously it’s a big club, so it’s always going to be hard. Before I got there, I heard that the left-back was a little bit injured so I got to play my first game for the Champions League qualifications. From there, it just kept going and then when the other left-back got back, I kept my spot a bit.”

Bos, a Melburnian of Dutch descent, comes from a family of Feyenoord fans.

“Living in Australia when I was younger, it was hard to watch the games, but I remember my dad would always put the highlights on and stuff, so we would watch that,” he said. “It’s a huge deal for my family as well. The ones that live in Holland, I think they were just as excited as I was when they heard about the news. So it’s crazy for them as well, and they always want to come watch the games and stuff like that. So it’s pretty unreal and playing for them is just an honour.”

Bos is also pinching himself that he gets to play under club great Robin van Persie.

“It’s really cool,” he said. “Watching him when I was younger as well and he’s such a big player and icon in the football world. And seeing him in real life and talking to him, and having him there, it’s pretty surreal. I really enjoy it.”

Currently, Bos has joined the Socceroos for upcoming matches against Canada in Montreal on Saturday and the United States in Colorado next Wednesday. These matches provide another chance for him to cement his starting left-back role, especially with stalwart Aziz Behich among the A-League players not selected in this squad.

With a strong World Cup on the horizon and continued impressive performances for both club and country, Bos knows more opportunities could come his way.

“Either Premier League or Bundesliga — probably one of those two,” he said when asked about his future ambitions. “But for right now, obviously, just focusing on where I am. But that’s probably the goal.”

Hot-shooting Eagles battle Maroons, look to avoid second-half letdowns

Tab Baldwin reflected on the recent basketball game between Ateneo and La Salle, highlighting the contrasting performances throughout the match. He noted the choice of focusing on either the strong play Ateneo displayed in the first three quarters or the challenging moment when everything went south during one quarter.

“We’ll do both in the confines of our dugout and in our next practice [and] in the video session,” Baldwin said last Sunday following Ateneo’s 81-74 victory.

This balanced approach aims to address both the positives and areas for improvement as the team prepares for upcoming challenges.

‘A Cruel Person’: Meghan Markle Blasted For Being ‘Inappropriate and Classless’ After She ‘Giggles at Model Stumbling on Catwalk’ During Paris Fashion Week

**Meghan Markle Branded a ‘Cruel Person’ After Laughing at Stumbling Runway Model at Paris Fashion Week**

*Published: October 7, 2025, 2:05 p.m. ET*

Meghan Markle has come under fire after being caught on camera laughing at a runway model who stumbled during a recent fashion show, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

The 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex paused her promotional activities for her lifestyle brand, As Ever, to attend Paris Fashion Week. She was seated front row at the Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2026 show on Saturday, October 4.

### The Incident at Balenciaga

While Markle shared a carefully curated video on Instagram showcasing her preparations and arrival at the controversial luxury brand’s show, a different clip has gone viral for a far less flattering reason.

In the video, Markle appears in a sleek white monochrome outfit, her brunette hair slicked back into a low bun, complemented by minimal makeup and accessories. Her attention is focused on the runway when she reacts physically to something happening out of frame.

Markle’s shoulders shudder, and she makes an “Oh!” expression, quickly covering her mouth with her hand—an action that clearly conceals a laugh. She then leans over and whispers to her friend Markus Anderson.

### Social Media Backlash

The clip sparked a wave of criticism on social media, where users branded the duchess as “a cruel person” and revisited her history of what they termed “inappropriate laughter.”

One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented sarcastically, “Very sympathetic. A real mark of a good person, eh?”

Another reprimanded Markle’s attempt to hide the laughter, writing, “And then she very quickly realized how inappropriate and cruel that was. Too little, too late.”

A third user questioned, “Why does she find such joy in others tripping or falling…”

### Past Incidents Spotlighted

Critics pointed to previous incidents where Markle reportedly laughed at others’ misfortunes, including moments when her young niece, Princess Charlotte, fell while standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the Royal Family and was “clearly hurt.”

Others recalled an episode where a guard fell during the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

One user remarked, “Inappropriate laughter (usually at someone else’s misfortune) is the only spontaneous thing Meghan does. All the rest is calculated and performative.”

Another added, “She’s a terrible person. Always laughing at other people’s misfortunes. She laughed at Princess Charlotte. A child.”

### Controversy Surrounding Markle’s Paris Trip

Markle’s visit to Paris has not been well-received on social media overall. In the Instagram video she shared from the Balenciaga show evening, viewers criticized her “bizarre” walk.

More scrutiny came from a seemingly carefree clip where she puts her feet up inside her car as it drives past several famous Parisian bridges—including the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides.

Notably, the car also passed the Pont d’Alma, near the Pont d’Alma tunnel—infamous as the site of the 1997 car crash that killed Princess Diana, Prince Harry’s mother.

Many branded Markle’s inclusion of this snippet in her montage as “utterly bewildering” and “insensitive beyond belief.”

Meghan Markle’s actions at Paris Fashion Week and the subsequent social media fallout highlight the ongoing public scrutiny she faces as both a member of the royal family and a public figure pursuing her own ventures.

Bihar Elections 2025: 80 Lakh Voters Missing From Rolls After Controversial Revision, Raising Fears Of Large-Scale Disenfranchisement

The Election Commission’s announcement of the Bihar Assembly elections has finally ended weeks of speculation. The 243 constituencies will go to the polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. By-elections to eight constituencies across seven states will also be held.

Yet, the focus is not on the schedule but on the process that preceded it—the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which has triggered more doubts than confidence.

Ordinarily, Bihar should have had 8.22 crore registered voters. But the final rolls show only 7.42 crore—a staggering shortfall of nearly 80 lakh names. This massive deletion has caused alarm across the political spectrum. Reports suggest that women voters have seen their representation fall sharply, while Muslim voters faced disproportionate exclusions.

Far from being “purified”, the rolls reportedly contain gibberish names, duplicates, and invalid entries. The very purpose of the SIR—to improve accuracy—appears to have been undermined by poor execution and lack of transparency. The secrecy surrounding the entire exercise has added to public mistrust.

The Election Commission’s own manual mandates open verification, public display, and correction of draft lists. None of these steps were followed with due diligence.

In a democracy, the voter’s name on the electoral roll is the first symbol of citizenship. To erase it arbitrarily is to disenfranchise the very people whose will constitutes the republic.

This flawed revision has immense electoral implications. For instance, in the last Assembly election, at least 35 seats were decided by margins of less than 3,000 votes. With 80 lakh names missing, even minor irregularities could tilt the balance in dozens of constituencies. No wonder people are anxious about how the SIR will affect the outcome.

Politically, the Bihar election is a high-stakes battle. Though Chief Minister Nitish Kumar leads the NDA on paper, the campaign will revolve around Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP faces a dilemma: it wants victory but is wary of returning Nitish Kumar to power. The absence of a unifying state leader, like the late Sushil Modi, compounds its discomfort.

On the other hand, the INDIA alliance hopes to capitalise on anti-incumbency but has struggled to sustain the enthusiasm it generated during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, notwithstanding Rahul Gandhi’s Vote Chori march.

The stakes go far beyond Bihar. The outcome will influence political trends in states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where elections are due next year. More importantly, it will test whether the Election Commission can still function as an impartial guardian of democracy.

For the sake of public faith, the ECI must urgently restore transparency, correct errors, and reassure voters that every genuine citizen’s name counts—and that every vote will count equally.

Bravo Bombshell: ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ Star Todd Nepola Files $11Million Defamation Lawsuit Against Network, Claims Show ‘Lied About His Finances For Juicy Storyline’

**Oct. 7, 2025, Published 3:51 p.m. ET**

Real Housewives of Miami star Alexia Nepola’s ex-husband, Todd Nepola, is suing Bravo and NBCUniversal, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

In the lawsuit, Todd specifically alleges defamation and unauthorized use of his name and likeness in connection with recent seasons of the show.

### Todd Nepola Alleges Lies About His Finances Were Told

In the filing, Todd states the network told lies about his finances for storylines during Seasons 6 and 7 of *Real Housewives of Miami*, using “manipulated storylines and unauthorized footage.”

Todd claims he is worth $100 million and insists he never bounced a check, missed a payment, or had any financial trouble. However, the show allegedly portrayed him as struggling financially to make Alexia’s storyline more “juicy” for viewers.

### Multiple ‘RHOM’ Episodes Are Called Into Question in Todd Nepola’s Lawsuit

The legal filing calls into question multiple episodes, including one where cast member Adriana de Moura allegedly spread false claims about Todd.

Specifically, Todd referenced allegations suggesting his business was failing and claims that he might have to break his lease and downgrade his apartment.

Todd’s lawyer, Scott J. Weiselberg of Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Gilbert, insists these claims were fabricated and that Bravo knowingly presented misleading information.

During filming, Todd’s side claims he purchased more than $115 million in real estate, all financed legitimately through bank loans.

### Todd ‘Wanted to Be Alexia’s Husband, Not Her Storyline’

The complaint also states that Bravo and NBCUniversal used Todd’s “image and personal storyline without consent.”

“Mr. Nepola wanted to be Alexia’s husband, not her storyline,” the filing notes. “Enough is enough.”

Todd is seeking $10 million in damages for defamation and $1 million for unauthorized use of his name and likeness. Additionally, he requests injunctive relief to prevent further misuse or rebroadcast of his image.

### The Demise of Alexia and Todd’s Relationship

After marrying in December 2021, their marriage fell apart when Todd filed for divorce in April 2024. Alexia was reportedly blindsided by the filing, calling it “shocking and heartbreaking.”

“I will take comfort in the fact that my friends and family will be by my side, supporting me during this difficult time. I’m praying for better times ahead,” she said at the time.

In March 2025, it was confirmed that Alexia and Todd had finalized their divorce.

“After thoughtful reflection, Todd and I have reached an amicable divorce settlement,” Alexia said in a statement. “While our marriage has legally ended, our relationship has not.”

“We continue to love and support each other as we navigate this next chapter,” she added. “We appreciate the understanding, love, and support from our family, friends, and fans.”
