Sarnia’s third annual Ella-ween organ donation awareness event set for Oct. 19

**Ella-ween Returns for Its Third Annual Celebration Supporting Organ Donation Awareness**

“This is our third annual Ella-ween,” said Sue Morrison-Weir with SODA (Sarnia Organ Donor Association). The event’s namesake, Ella, passed away suddenly in 2022, but her donated organs saved at least two lives.

“Ella really loved Halloween,” Morrison-Weir shared. The child’s mother, Kristen Luckins, connected with SODA and came up with the idea for the event — and thus, Ella-ween was born. Luckins sits on the SODA board and continues to help organize the event, which was held for the first time in 2023.

Leading up to the event, “We have been collecting donated costumes, accessories, and Halloween décor items,” Morrison-Weir said. New Halloween makeup has also been donated. All items will be available for sale at Ella-ween for $10 or less each.

“As much as it’s a fundraiser, Ella-ween is about giving back to the community,” she explained. “Halloween is getting very expensive, including the cost of buying new costumes. We just wanted it to be fun for everyone.”

The event has attracted a few hundred attendees in past years. Fundraising efforts for SODA include proceeds from a 50-50 draw. On the day of the event, there will be Halloween-themed vendors on site, along with film characters in scary costumes, face painting by The Painted Cat, music, and a dance troupe teaching kids some dance moves.

“There is a lot of fun to be had,” Morrison-Weir said.

Donations for Ella-ween are accepted year-round and can still be dropped off in the coming days at several locations, including:

– Lochiel Kiwanis Centre
– Motion on Finch Drive
– The Painted Cat on Christina Street
– Hub Insurance on Exmouth Street
– 1112 Indian Rd. N.

“So far, I would say we have several hundred costumes,” Morrison-Weir noted. “They’re all sorted by size to make it easier for shoppers at Ella-ween.”

Ella-ween also supports important services provided by SODA, such as grief packages for donor families. “We also offer financial aid for people in Lambton County who are experiencing transplantation,” Morrison-Weir said.

Patients traveling to hospitals in Toronto for transplantation sometimes have to live there for several months after surgery and may face travel expenses for medical visits over extended periods. SODA offers financial assistance to help cover these costs.

The organization promotes awareness of organ transplantation and the importance of organ donation. Currently, an average of 1,400 individuals in Ontario are waiting for organ transplants, and 35 percent of the province’s residents are registered donors, according to SODA.

“I like to say we’re talking about life,” said Morrison-Weir. “We’re talking about people who wouldn’t survive without transplantation.”

The non-profit organization is entering its 31st year of operation. For more information, visit [www.sarniaorgandonors.ca](http://www.sarniaorgandonors.ca).

AI agent expectations meet reality as enterprises seek secure, production-ready systems

While headlines about artificial intelligence project failures often dominate the news, enterprises are witnessing tangible success by focusing AI efforts in specific areas such as knowledge access. In this domain, search solutions like Glean Technologies Inc. have become essential for democratizing enterprise AI across the workforce, embedding intelligent tools directly into daily workflows.

**The Rise of AI in Enterprise Knowledge Access**

“You build a product like Glean, give it to all of your employees, and now you’re bringing AI into the day-to-day work of every individual,” said Arvind Jain, founder and chief executive officer of Glean. “That’s actually the first thing that enterprises are doing because they’re thinking, ‘AI is happening, and I need to bring AI tools to all of my employees and get that education going.’”

Jain shared these insights during an exclusive interview with John Furrier of theCUBE at theCUBE + NYSE Wired: AI Factories Data Centers of the Future event, broadcast live from SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the critical need for enterprises to design systems that empower users to be their most productive selves.

**The State of Enterprise AI**

Over the past year, there has been explosive interest in AI agents—autonomous systems designed to perform business tasks. However, unrealistic expectations have led to considerable disappointment.

“Agent deployment requires more than imagination; it demands guardrails, monitoring, and secure integration with enterprise systems,” Jain cautioned. “Last year has been all about AI agents, and expectations have been sky-high. People thought they could bring an agent in and automate any business process in their company in just one day.”

**Glean’s Approach: Simplicity and Security**

Glean’s approach focuses on making it easy for non-technical employees to build useful AI agents, while simultaneously providing the necessary infrastructure for quality, compliance, and security. With an extensive integrations and actions library encompassing thousands of enterprise tasks, Glean enables organizations to create production-grade agents that do more than just converse—they get real work done.

“When you build an agent with Glean, we first make it really easy; we are democratizing access to agent building,” Jain explained. “You could be a business owner, not a technologist or AI scientist, but you can still build something really cool with AI through our agent builders. It’s becoming very natural.”

He added, “We also provide the rest of the infrastructure to help evaluate, test, monitor, and put the right guardrails in place to ensure agents don’t go wild in the enterprise.”

**The Enterprise Graph: The Neural Network of the Enterprise**

One of Glean’s most important innovations is the enterprise graph, a connective layer that serves as the neural network of an organization.

“Agents don’t operate in isolation; they require data, context, and a human-like understanding of how work gets done,” Jain said. “We excel at this because Glean comes with hundreds of integrations to the most common enterprise systems.”

“If you build an agent and need access to specific data, it’s very easy and seamless within Glean, since we’re already connected to all the enterprise systems,” he continued. “And beyond data access, we allow you to take actions directly within those systems.”

IND Vs SL, Asia Cup 2025, Super 4 Match: Team India Seals A Thrilling Victory In Super Over Against Sri Lanka, Will Next Face Pakistan For The Championship

In one of the most dramatic matches of the Asia Cup 2025, India edged past Sri Lanka in a Super Over thriller during the Super 4 stage in Dubai. After both teams ended their 20-over innings tied at 202/5, the match was decided in a nail-biting Super Over that had fans on the edge of their seats.

India batted first and posted a strong total of 202/5, thanks to a fiery 61-run knock from Abhishek Sharma, who continued his fine form in the tournament. Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma added crucial runs in the final overs to push India past the 200-run mark.

Sri Lanka responded in style, with opener Pathum Nissanka playing one of the finest innings of his career. He scored a stunning 107 runs, anchoring the chase and keeping Sri Lanka in the hunt till the final ball. His brilliant century ensured the match went down to the wire, with Sri Lanka also ending their innings on 202/5.

### Arshdeep Singh Stars in the Super Over

Sri Lanka batted first in the one-over eliminator but faltered under pressure. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh bowled a sensational over, taking two wickets and conceding just two runs in five balls. The pressure was squarely on India’s batters to finish the job.

India responded emphatically. Facing the very first ball of the Super Over, Suryakumar Yadav sealed the match for India with three runs off just one delivery. His calm presence and clean shot ensured India walked away with the victory.

With this thrilling win, India sends a strong message to their archrivals Pakistan, whom they are set to face next in the Asia Cup final.

Trouble in Mind Records Ceases Operations

**Trouble in Mind Records, the Chicago Label, Ceases Operations After More Than a Decade**

Trouble in Mind Records, the Chicago-based label that specialized in punk and garage rock for over a decade, has officially ceased operations. Founders Bill and Lisa Roe shared the news today on social media, revealing that the label has been inactive as of June 1st, 2025. Below, you’ll find their full statement and a brief history of the label’s journey.

### A Brief History of Trouble in Mind Records

Bill and Lisa Roe founded Trouble in Mind Records in 2009, coinciding with the arrival of their first child, Veronica Ronnie Moon. Initially, the label focused on pressing 7-inch vinyl singles as the Roes expertly balanced parenthood, their band CoCoComa, and day jobs—Lisa as a librarian and Bill working as a production manager for Chicago Independent Distribution.

By 2010, they released the label’s first full-length album, a self-titled record from the Liminanas. Over the years, Trouble in Mind launched albums from a diverse roster of artists, including Mikal Cronin, The Tubs, Dummy, David Nance Group, Ultimate Painting, Doug Tuttle, Negative Scanner, and many others.

Though primarily known for championing garage, punk, and psych-rock, the Roes always envisioned Trouble in Mind as a platform offering a wide variety of music. Speaking in 2017, Bill Roe explained:

> “The label has morphed as our tastes have. It’s all in the same wheelhouse, but it’s a better reflection of what you’d see if you looked at our personal record collection. We figured out more what we want to release, and plus our ears also get tired of hearing the same thing over and over. We release what catches our ear, so chaining ourselves to a certain genre or style of music seems pretty limiting — we’ve put out garage-punk, psych, experimental music, electronic music, and spiritual jazz records. Perhaps it makes our label harder to pin down or categorize, but fuck that, who cares?”

### Official Statement from Trouble in Mind Records

**ADIEU TROUBLE IN MIND RECORDS: 2009–2025**

Defiant Netanyahu says Israel ‘must finish the job’ against Hamas in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a defiant speech at the United Nations General Assembly, insisting that Israel must “finish the job” against Hamas in Gaza despite growing international pressure to end the devastating conflict. His address came as dozens of delegates from multiple countries staged a mass walkout from the assembly hall on Friday, signaling their disapproval of Israel’s ongoing military actions.

Netanyahu criticized Western leaders, saying they may have “buckled under the pressure,” but he guaranteed that Israel would not. He also condemned recent decisions by several countries to recognize Palestinian statehood, warning that such moves would encourage terrorism against Jews and innocent people worldwide.

As Netanyahu spoke, shouts echoed throughout the hall, though the US delegation—an ardent supporter of Israel’s campaign against Hamas—remained seated. Notably, some major world powers, including the US and the UK, were represented by lower-level diplomats rather than their senior officials or UN ambassadors.

“Antisemitism dies hard. In fact, it doesn’t die at all,” Netanyahu declared, a frequent refrain he uses to accuse his critics of antisemitism while underlining Israel’s position.

Facing increasing international isolation, accusations of war crimes, and mounting pressure to halt the conflict, Netanyahu used the UN platform to push back firmly. He presented a visual aid—a map of the region titled *The Curse*—and wore a special hostage pin featuring a QR code linking to a site about the October 7 attack aimed at international public diplomacy. Members of his delegation wore identical pins.

Throughout his speech, Netanyahu praised US President Donald Trump as his chief ally in the region’s political and military landscape. He highlighted new opportunities arising from shifting dynamics in the Middle East, stating that Israel had begun security negotiations with Syria’s new government.

Back home, Israel took extraordinary measures to broadcast Netanyahu’s speech to Gaza. The Israeli military installed loudspeakers along the Israel-Gaza border to project his words into the territory. In an unprecedented move, the Prime Minister’s office announced that the Israeli army would take over mobile phones of Gaza residents and Hamas operatives to broadcast the speech live. It remains unclear to what extent this operation was successfully carried out.

Netanyahu said these efforts aimed to reach Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. At one point, he read aloud in Hebrew the names of the 20 hostages believed to be alive.

However, much of his address also targeted an international audience increasingly critical of Israel’s actions. The UN General Assembly speech is traditionally a focal point for high-profile statements, protests, and bold claims. This year, the stakes were especially high.

In recent days, several countries—including Australia, Canada, France, and the UK—have recognized Palestine as an independent state. The European Union is considering tariffs and sanctions against Israel. The General Assembly passed a nonbinding resolution calling on Israel to commit to an independent Palestinian nation, a proposal Netanyahu has categorically rejected.

The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant accusing Netanyahu of crimes against humanity, charges he denies. Meanwhile, the UN’s highest court is reviewing South Africa’s allegation that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, which Israel vehemently disputes.

Outside the UN, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered near the heavily secured building. Nidaa Lafi, an organizer with the Palestinian Youth Movement, stated, “Israel has chosen war against every conscientious human being in this world. The masses have come to the irreversible realization that this war was always about the complete ethnic cleansing of Palestine, about the exploitation and the stealing of Palestinian land.”

Earlier this week, at a special UN Security Council session, many nations expressed horror over the October 2023 Hamas attack that killed approximately 1,200 people in Israel, took 251 hostages, and sparked the current war. However, most also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a flow of humanitarian aid.

Israel’s sweeping offensive has so far killed more than 65,000 Palestinians in Gaza and displaced 90% of the population, with many facing starvation. While over 150 countries recognize a Palestinian state, the US remains a staunch supporter of Israel and has not extended official recognition.

Despite US backing, former President Trump indicated limits to support, telling reporters he would not allow Israel to annex the occupied West Bank—a move some of Netanyahu’s government members have advocated. Israeli officials recently approved a controversial settlement project that critics warn could divide the West Bank and undermine prospects for a Palestinian state.

Trump and Netanyahu are scheduled to meet during Trump’s visit to the region. Speaking from the White House lawn before attending the Ryder Cup, Trump expressed optimism about achieving a deal to ease the fighting in Gaza, secure the hostages’ release, and end the war. “I think we have a deal,” he told reporters, though previous suggestions of imminent agreements have failed to materialize.

The ongoing conflict remains deeply complex, with tensions high on all sides as the international community watches closely for developments.

**Crowd Gathers Near Railway Tracks**

The agitation was led by residents of the Antop Hill area, with hundreds gathering near the railway tracks around 12:15 pm. As part of their demonstration, the protesters blocked a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-bound local train. The train was detained for approximately three minutes, from 12:16 pm to 12:19 pm, according to railway officials.

**Concerns Over Health and Safety**

CBI Brings Back Fugitive Parminder Singh From UAE Via INTERPOL Channels

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully coordinated the return of wanted fugitive Parminder Singh, also known as Nirmal Singh or Pindi, from the UAE through INTERPOL channels.

Parminder Singh is wanted by the Punjab Police in connection with multiple serious offences, including extortion, violations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for raising funds for terrorist activities, attempt to murder, and criminal intimidation. The subject had fled India and was absconding for a significant period.

The International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of the CBI, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), NCB-Abu Dhabi, and Punjab Police, successfully coordinated his return to India on 26 September 2025. Upon arrival, Parminder Singh was escorted by a team of Punjab Police officials from the UAE.

Earlier, on 13 June 2025, the CBI secured the publication of a Red Notice through INTERPOL at the request of Punjab Police. Parminder Singh was subsequently arrested by UAE authorities, and a decision was taken to extradite him to India.

Red Notices published by INTERPOL serve as international alerts circulated to law enforcement agencies worldwide for tracking and apprehending wanted criminals. Acting as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, the CBI coordinates with various Indian law enforcement agencies through BHARATPOL to facilitate assistance via INTERPOL channels.

In recent years, more than 130 wanted criminals have been successfully brought back to India through effective coordination and cooperation via INTERPOL channels, reinforcing India’s commitment to combating transnational crime.
