New York City’s mayoral election seems to have only reinforced John Rocker’s negative feelings about the Big Apple. The former Braves relief pitcher took to X on Tuesday to voice his opinion on the state of the race, in which democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani is favored to win.
Rocker, who made headlines with his incendiary comments about New York during a Sports Illustrated interview in 1999, once again expressed his dislike of the city.
“25 years ago I criticized New York for its rapid decline into a third world country,” Rocker began his post. “I was forced to undergo psychological counseling, as if I were the crazy one. 25 years later, the city is voting in a Muslim socialist for mayor. F-K NEW YORK.”
During his 1999 interview with journalist Jeff Pearlman, Rocker didn’t hold back his disdain for New York and its residents. He bashed New York and Mets fans and openly expressed his discomfort with “foreigners.”
“I’d retire first. It’s the most hectic, nerve-wracking city,” Rocker said when asked if he’d ever play in New York. “Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you’re riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It’s depressing.”
He continued: “The biggest thing I don’t like about New York are the foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?”
Following widespread backlash to the article, Rocker publicly apologized and was mandated by MLB to undergo psychiatric counseling before being suspended for 28 games—a ban that was later reduced by half.
When the Braves came to New York for the first time during the 2000 season, hundreds of NYPD officers provided extra security at a packed Shea Stadium. Many angry fans were ready to voice their displeasure toward Rocker.
In June of this year, Rocker recalled that game on social media, sharing a message similar to his recent post about the election.
“25 years ago today I pitched at Shea Stadium for the first time since the Sports Illustrated article released,” he wrote on X. “More than 700 NYPD were on site. Police escorted one person out of the stadium for throwing a beer bottle at me. We ended up winning that game. F-K NEW YORK.”

Oil prices steadied following a two-day decline as investors carefully weighed mixed signals from the market. On one hand, signs of a supply glut raised concerns, while on the other, the impact of Western sanctions on Russian producers added uncertainty.
This delicate balance kept oil trading relatively stable as market participants assessed the ongoing developments and their potential effects on future supply and demand dynamics.

**Race for New York City Mayor Tightens as Andrew Cuomo Narrows Zohran Mamdani’s Lead**
*By Carl Campanile | New York Post | October 27, 2025, 2:01 p.m. ET*
The race for New York City mayor has tightened considerably, with former Governor Andrew Cuomo cutting front-runner Zohran Mamdani’s lead in half compared to a month ago, according to a new poll.
Mamdani, the Democratic nominee, now leads Cuomo, who is running as an independent, by just 44% to 34% among likely Big Apple voters, a Suffolk University survey found. Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa remains in third place with 11% support.
This marks a significant shift since Suffolk University’s prior poll conducted in September, where Mamdani held a commanding 20-point lead over Cuomo.
The poll is Suffolk’s first since Mayor Eric Adams completely dropped his re-election bid and endorsed Cuomo. Since then, Cuomo’s numbers have improved notably. He is now running roughly even among Hispanic voters after trailing Mamdani by 30 points in that demographic last month. Additionally, Cuomo leads among independents by 10 points, a dramatic reversal from September when he trailed Mamdani by 18 points among non-party-affiliated voters.
Seven percent of voters remain undecided, while the four other candidates on the ballot collectively garner 2% support.
Curtis Sliwa continues to be a significant factor in the race. He and Cuomo appear to be splitting the anti-Mamdani vote, making it more challenging to defeat the Democratic Socialist Queens assemblyman. According to the poll, many of Sliwa’s supporters would back Cuomo if Sliwa were not in the race.
“There is one person in New York City whose voters could have an outsized impact on the outcome,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center. “That person isn’t Mayor Eric Adams, Representative Hakeem Jeffries, Senator Chuck Schumer, or any New York billionaire. It’s Republican Curtis Sliwa, whose voters hold the 11% blocking Cuomo from winning the race,” he added.

As the Trump administration’s mass deportation raids enter their second month, their impact has been felt across the Chicago region and the nation. Political tensions have deepened, hundreds have been detained or arrested, and thousands have protested—from a two-story brick U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in suburban Broadview to city street corners and suburban downtowns.
Throughout it all, activists, protesters, and journalists have faced tear gas and pepper ball rounds. President Donald Trump’s threats to send in the National Guard—first to quell crime in Chicago, then to assist ICE and Border Patrol agents—have, for the moment, not come to fruition.
Here’s what we know about federal immigration enforcement in and around Chicago, as well as other immigration-related stories and the National Guard deployment.

### How We Got Here
On September 8, President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security announced a surge in immigration enforcement in Chicago, dubbing it “Operation Midway Blitz.” The operation targets what officials refer to as “criminal illegal aliens” who have allegedly benefited from the city and state’s sanctuary policies.
This announcement came more than two weeks after Trump said he planned to target Chicago due to its crime rates. In response, Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson warned residents about potential immigration sweeps.
“Let’s be clear, the terror and cruelty is the point, not the safety of anyone living here,” Pritzker said on September 2.
Trump had set the stage for the operation with a social media post showing military helicopters flying over Chicago’s lakefront skyline under the title “Chipocalypse Now.” “Chicago is about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR,” Trump wrote, a day after signing an executive order renaming the Department of Defense to its pre-1949 title.

### ICE in and Around Chicago
Operation Midway Blitz has been visible throughout Chicago and its suburbs. Incidents have ranged from tear gas deployed in Logan Square and the detention of a mother and child at Millennium Park to a manhunt in suburban Mount Prospect and multiple arrests involving rideshare drivers at O’Hare International Airport.
A federal judge has ruled that all immigration enforcement agents must wear body cameras. The judge expressed particular concern over alleged violations during recent clashes, including an incident on Chicago’s East Side where agents used a controversial and potentially dangerous tactic to disable a fleeing vehicle before deploying tear gas during a tense gathering.
Tear gas usage by federal agents during immigration raids has escalated lately—from neighborhoods like Little Village to Lakeview and Irving Park.
On September 12, the operation took a violent turn when agents fatally shot a man in Franklin Park. The man, identified by federal officials as Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, a 38-year-old Mexican citizen living illegally in the U.S., allegedly tried to flee a traffic stop and struck the officer with his vehicle.
On October 4, federal immigration authorities shot a Chicago woman in Brighton Park, after she allegedly tried to impede them. In the shooting’s aftermath, protesters gathered at the intersection to confront federal forces. Some threw water bottles as agents responded with tear gas and flash-bang grenades.
—
### Impact on Local Communities
Gig workers, street vendors, and day laborers have been caught up in the crackdown. Emotional arrests have unfolded in the region, including one where federal agents detained a man outside his Naperville apartment as his young sons watched and cried “Pa, te amo.”
In other cases, a Rogers Park man was fined $130 for not carrying his legal papers during questioning, and an Oak Park attorney arrested near a school described agents pointing guns at him and referencing a “Chiraq Team 2” group chat.
Federal immigration raids have also targeted local businesses and events:
– Swap-O-Rama on the Southwest Side was raided by federal agents.
– Videos of targeted raids in Carpentersville circulated online, including activity near the village hall.
– A flower vendor arrested during the launch of Operation Midway Blitz was deported to Mexico.
Waukegan’s mayor has even stepped in during a Border Patrol arrest to ensure the safety of residents.
—
### What’s Happening in Broadview?
The small suburb of Broadview has become a national spotlight due to confrontations between federal agents and protestors at the local ICE processing center. Since the launch of Operation Midway Blitz in early September, protesters have held near-daily demonstrations outside the facility.
Larger crowds—and subsequent arrests—often gather on Fridays and Sundays, sometimes violating Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson’s order that protests only occur between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
A controversial 8-foot-high security fence erected by federal officials outside the facility was torn down on October 14 following a court order. Broadview officials pushed back, deeming the fence “illegally built,” and demanded the Department of Homeland Security remove it.
Residents remain fearful as the ICE center becomes a battleground amid the immigration blitz. Mayor Thompson, who is the first Black woman to lead Broadview, has refused to take “a position of fear” while navigating the national attention.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently indicated that ICE may expand operations in Broadview, stating, “we’re here to stay.”

### Chicago Takes Action
In Chicago, aldermen and residents are responding in various ways—leading street patrols, sounding whistles to alert communities of enforcement activity, and organizing protests.
“We’ll do everything in our power to make sure that ICE is out of Chicago,” Alderman Michael Rodriguez of Little Village told the Tribune on October 3.
Numerous U.S. citizens and others have reported being detained or questioned, including:
– A 44-year-old U.S. citizen zip-tied and questioned after work at a downtown bar.
– A Rogers Park man fined for not carrying his legal documents during questioning.
If stopped by ICE, here is what you should do to protect yourself.
Local clergy and faith leaders have publicly condemned the crackdown as “antithetical to the Gospel,” while cafes and restaurants across the city have posted signs barring immigration agents.
Community activism continues ward by ward, with faith leaders offering resources, moral support, and solidarity to those affected.
—
### The “No Kings” Protests
On October 18, the “Hands Off Chicago” protest at Butler Field in Grant Park drew a large crowd. The sound of whistles—an ominous warning signaling ICE activity in recent weeks—rang out as a sign of solidarity and resistance.
Mayor Brandon Johnson addressed the crowd:
“There are those in this country that have decided, at the behest of this president, to declare war on Chicago and American cities across this country,” Johnson said, eliciting boos from attendees.
“They have clearly decided that they want a rematch of the Civil War. But we are here to stand firm, to stay committed, that we will not bend, we will not bow, we will not cower, we will not submit.”
This demonstration was one of roughly 2,500 similar protests nationwide—another flashpoint in Trump’s ongoing immigration crackdown.
—
### Could the National Guard Be Next?
Governor J.B. Pritzker has repeatedly criticized the Trump administration’s plans to deploy the National Guard to Chicago, arguing that the stated purpose—combating violent crime—is a cover for militarizing Democratic-controlled cities as political payback.
Appearing on ABC’s *This Week* on October 13, Pritzker said the administration’s goal is to “militarize, especially blue cities and blue states.”
On October 17, the Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court for permission to dispatch troops to the Chicago area while an appeal is pending.
However, a federal judge in Chicago extended a restraining order on October 22, barring President Trump from deploying the National Guard in Illinois as officials await a Supreme Court ruling that could decide the case.
Members of the Texas National Guard arrived in the Chicago area on October 7 as part of preparations.
Trump has discussed invoking the two-century-old Insurrection Act—a statutory exception to the Posse Comitatus Act—which would allow U.S. military involvement in law enforcement during a “rebellion” or when enforcing federal law is deemed “impractical.”
—
The situation remains fluid as Chicago and its suburbs grapple with the ongoing immigration enforcement surge, community resistance, and the looming possibility of National Guard deployment.

**Joe Exotic Furious Over Trump’s Cold Shoulder as President Pardons Others**
*Published Oct. 27, 2025, 2:00 p.m. ET*
Joe Exotic is fuming over Donald Trump giving him the cold shoulder while the president continues to pardon his loyal supporters left and right, RadarOnline.com can reveal.
The Netflix star, real name Joseph Allen Maldonado, is currently serving a 21-year sentence behind bars after he was convicted of a murder-for-hire plot against his rival, animal rights activist Carole Baskin.
—
### What Did Joe Exotic Think of George Santos Being Released From Prison?
Trump commuted the sentence of disgraced former GOP representative George Santos on October 17, months after also releasing reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley from prison.
Maldonado exclusively told RadarOnline.com that he is losing his patience.
“Am I disappointed that all three got out before I did? Who wouldn’t be?” Maldonado said.
“… I am truly disappointed that George Santos has not gone public to help bring my case more attention since his release, because we talked on his podcast and phone before he went to prison.”
“He lived 27 some days in hell. I spent 2 years and 8 months in that hell, and you have the bloody photos,” the Tiger King star added, referring to Santos sending Trump a letter from prison describing his brutal living conditions.
Maldonado, 63, also called out the Chrisleys’ daughter, Savannah, who received a call from Trump to let her know the news of her parents’ release.
—
### Joe Exotic’s Desperate Plea
The reality star raged, “I don’t have a good-looking daughter like Savannah Chrisley to get on TV and on a podcast and beg Trump every day, or a spouse like Brittney Griner did to be in the news every day to get her out of Russia.”
“My parents both have died since being here, and my siblings disowned me in the ’90s for being gay,” Maldonado claimed.
The ex-TV star, who has been battling cancer behind bars, also admitted he may not have much time left.
He told RadarOnline.com, “Anyone can die in here. I pray with my health issues that I don’t. Worst case right now is that I am out in October of 2030. It would be the worst thing for the Republican party for me to die in here because the millions of people who watched Tiger King Season 2, where they admitted to perjury, would hate that Trump let me die in here….”
Maldonado emphasized that he doesn’t necessarily need a full pardon. “I just want Trump to commute my sentence to time served with no probation so I can travel and work, and I will make you so proud of who all I can help with my platform like I used to before I had this platform.”
“Just a second chance like Todd, Julie, and George got is all I am asking for, for Christmas.”
—
### Claims of Government Conspiracy
Maldonado has done all he can to see the light of day again, including reaching out to Attorney General Pam Bondi. He claims he is behind bars due to a government conspiracy.
According to Maldonado, the government witnesses who testified against him were involved in fraud, identity theft, bank fraud, sex trafficking, and rape.
“The worst part is that the federal wildlife agents and two FBI agents who led this conspiracy covered up some very heinous crimes in order to get three felons to play their corrupt games, and they entrapped me for two fake murder-for-hire plots,” Maldonado ranted in a letter.
However, the letter went nowhere and didn’t help secure his release.
Despite this, Maldonado remained hopeful at the time, claiming prosecutors were “weighing out their options” regarding his uncertain future. He said, “…to offer me time served or something else if they can keep that conviction because they don’t want to lose that conviction.”
—
### Savannah Chrisley Praises Trump for Parents’ Release
Maldonado is hoping to get as lucky as the Chrisleys, who were released from prison following their short stay behind bars for tax evasion and bank fraud.
At the time, Savannah Chrisley gushed: “The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing paper pardon paperwork for both of my parents. So both my parents are coming home tonight [Tuesday] or tomorrow [Wednesday], and I still don’t believe it’s real. I’m freaking out – the fact that the president called me.”
“I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration and everyone along the way, all of my lawyers, the people who put in countless hours and effort and love for my family to make sure that my parents got home,” the 28-year-old added.
“My parents get to start their lives over… President Trump didn’t just commute their sentences; he gave them a full, unconditional pardon. So for that, I am forever grateful.”

President Trump issued a strong warning to New Jersey voters early Monday, cautioning that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rep. Mikie Sherrill would transform the Garden State into a hotspot of crime, soaring energy prices—and “HEARTACHE!”
In an early morning post on Truth Social, the former president criticized both Sherrill and Virginia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Abigail Spanberger, urging voters to swing right this election season.
“Why would anyone vote for New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial candidates, Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger, when they want transgender for everybody, men playing in women’s sports, high crime, and the most expensive energy prices almost anywhere in the world?” Trump questioned.
He continued, “VOTE REPUBLICAN for massive energy cost reductions, large-scale tax cuts, and basic common sense!”
Highlighting his administration’s energy policies, Trump claimed, “Under President Trump, ME, gasoline will come down to approximately $2 a gallon, very soon! With the Democrats, you’ll be paying $4, $5, and $6 a gallon, and your electric and other energy costs will, likewise, SOAR.”
The former commander-in-chief emphasized that voters in New Jersey and beyond would enjoy “a great and very affordable life” if Republican candidates prevail in the upcoming election.
“All you’ll get from voting Democrat is unrelentingly high crime, energy prices through the roof, men playing in women’s sports, and HEARTACHE!” he added.
This latest salvo follows prior attacks by Trump against Sherrill throughout her campaign. Over the weekend, as early in-person voting began in New Jersey, he labeled her a “corrupt radical left Democrat,” declaring, “She’ll be a travesty as the governor of New Jersey.”
Despite Trump’s criticisms, Sherrill currently holds a five-point lead over Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli, standing at 50% to 45% in the latest Rutgers-Eagleton poll of likely voters.

**HEZI RASH Claims Responsibility for DDoS Attack on Iraq’s Electoral Commission Website**
An entity identifying itself as HEZI RASH has claimed responsibility for a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack targeting the official website of Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC). This critical government website, accessible at ihec.iq, was reported to be down and inaccessible following the attack.
### Analysis of the HEZI RASH Cyberattack
The HEZI RASH attack employed a DDoS methodology, a prevalent form of cyber assault designed to overwhelm a server by flooding it with traffic from multiple sources. This massive influx of malicious requests exhausts the server’s resources, making the website unavailable to legitimate users.
According to FalconFeeds.io, the IHEC website was offline at the time of the claim, indicating the attack successfully disrupted the commission’s online services.
Attacks targeting electoral commission websites are especially concerning given their crucial role in managing electoral processes, providing essential information to the public, and maintaining transparency in governance. This incident highlights the vulnerability of governmental digital infrastructure to malicious cyber activities.
### Context and Potential Motivations
While HEZI RASH has not publicly stated the motivations behind this attack, its timing is notable. The assault occurred ahead of Iraq’s parliamentary elections scheduled for November 11, 2025. The elections are marked by a boycott from the popular Sadrist Movement, led by Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, adding to the tense political atmosphere.
### Cybersecurity Implications for Government Infrastructure
The disruption of the IHEC website serves as a stark reminder of the persistent cyber threats facing public sector institutions worldwide. Interruptions to an electoral commission’s online presence can erode public trust, hinder access to vital information, and foster a perception of instability—even if the core electoral systems remain unaffected.
This incident underscores the urgent need for robust DDoS mitigation strategies, resilient network architectures, and rapid incident response protocols within government bodies. Such measures are essential to ensure the continuity, integrity, and security of critical digital operations.
### Recent Related Cyber Attacks
This attack comes shortly after the Dark Storm Hacktivist Gang claimed responsibility for a DDoS attack on the SpaceX website. Additionally, earlier this month, several prominent Indian government and academic websites experienced multiple DDoS attacks claimed by two hacktivist groups, indicating a growing trend of politically motivated cyber assaults targeting government-related entities globally.
