AEW President Tony Khan addressed the long-standing ban that kept the Briscoe Brothers off Warner Bros. Discovery networks following Mark Briscoe’s TNT Championship victory on Saturday. During the AEW Full Gear press conference, Khan confirmed that the executive responsible for preventing the team from appearing on television is no longer employed by the company. Mark Briscoe captured the TNT Championship earlier in the night, marking his first singles title in AEW. He was presented with a custom camouflage title belt to commemorate the win. When asked about the journey from being banned to holding the network’s signature title, Khan spoke bluntly about the past regime. Khan said: “Someone who’s long gone, long departed. Somebody who is long gone and, you know, we’ll leave it at that.” Khan mentioned the positive relationship with the current management team. Khan continued: “This place is the best. This is the absolute greatest. It’s a great place. And again, that is not somebody that is part of the family of the network or part of this family now.” Mark Briscoe reflected on the moment, acknowledging the specific controversy involving his late brother, Jay Briscoe. In 2013, Jay posted homophobic comments on Twitter that resulted in a high-ranking Warner official blocking the duo from AEW programming. Mark spoke about learning from those mistakes. Mark said: “It’s just crazy because, so many years ago, it was, you know, we didn’t know there was a point where the trajectory of the Briscoe brothers, it was just all up, up, up. And then, you know, some unfortunate comments were made by my big head brother. But, you know, it’s one of the things where you live and you learn. And we’re just so grateful that people have seen and acknowledged that we did learn from our mistakes.” Khan noted that he tried “every day” to overturn the decision while Jay was alive, but the executive “would not budge.” He credited current WBD CEO David Zaslav for the regime change that allowed Mark to be featured on the network. “Do India want to put 4 points at stake to gain 12?” – Aakash Chopra on the hosts needing to go for a win in IND vs SA 2025 2nd Test
Former India player Aakash Chopra has opined that the Indian team need to look for a win in the second Test against South Africa. He highlighted that the four points for a drawn game might not suffice in their quest to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Ad South Africa posted 489 runs in their first innings on Day 2 of the second Test in Guwahati on Sunday, November 23. India ended the day at nine for no loss in their first innings, trailing the visitors by 480 runs. During a discussion on Star Sports, Chopra wondered whether India would be willing to risk losing the game in trying for a win. “Since the entire story is about the WTC, when you are saying that it’s the WTC cycle due to which you make such pitches where you get quick results, and it’s not only our story, but the entire world, in such a scenario, a draw will give you only four points, which is 17 percent of the total points available (from the series),” the former India batter said. Ad Trending “So, whether you get four or zero, what difference does it make in the longer run? You have to look for 50 percent points, and for that, you only have to run fast. You have to take the initiative. The overarching theme tomorrow would be, do India want to put four points at stake to gain 12?” Chopra added. Ad The cricketer-turned-commentator noted that he wants to see intent from Rishabh Pant and company, highlighting that batters can drive the game. “There are 12 points for a win, zero for a loss, and you get only four for a draw. Four points may or may not decide your future. So I just want to see India’s intent. When you are bowling, how the match would progress is not in your hands many times, but when the bat is in your hand, you drive the game,” Chopra observed. Ad Yashasvi Jaiswal (7*) and KL Rahul (2*) were the unbeaten Indian batters at Stumps on Day 2 of the Guwahati Test. The duo adopted a cautious approach in the 6. 1 overs they faced before the close of play, but could bat more aggressively in the morning session of Day 3. “Not too much actually” Aakash Chopra on whether potential bad light would impact India’s approach in IND vs SA 2025 2nd Test In the same discussion, Aakash Chopra replied in the negative when asked whether India need to alter their approach because of the potential loss of play due to bad light in Guwahati. Ad “Not too much actually, because you will try to play well in whatever overs you get. Tomorrow, you won’t think about what would happen the day after. First play the day tomorrow. Assuming you lose only two or three wickets, you will score 325 to 350 runs. Then you start and say that you will take the game in your favor in the next two sessions,” he said. India bowled only 81. 5 overs on Day 1 of the Guwahati Test before bad light stopped play. Only 75. 3 overs were bowled on Day 2, including the 6. 1 overs faced by the hosts. × Feedback Why did you not like this content? Asking Eric: My stepsons seem to have forgotten all the manners we taught them
Dear Eric: I am the stepmother to two great young men. Their father and I have been together since they were teenagers. When they were young, it was a difficult but necessary position for me to be in when it came to teaching them about manners and household chores. They thought I was nagging them to put a napkin on their lap, take their hat off at the dinner table, take their shoes off when they entered the house, carry their dishes to the sink, put the seat down, etc. Now that they are grown men, I am running into a similar, uncomfortable position with them and their significant others. I feel like I am stepping on eggshells and biting my tongue when they come to visit because they have seemed to forget the things we taught them years ago. At a recent family gathering, none of the “kids” offered to help. They showed up empty-handed, sat down and waited to be served. Once the meal was finished, I had to ask them to help me clear the plates. On another occasion, they went to a family holiday that my husband and I did not attend because we were out of town. It was reported back to us that they showed up empty-handed and did not offer to help the hostess clean up after the meal. We were mortified. My husband has offered to say something to them, but his delivery is not always the best. Please, help us help them. Stepping On Eggshells Dear Eggshells: At this point, I think you may be overcompensating for the manners you wish these men had, so your husband’s delivery, poor though it may be, could be a helpful last resort. At the end of the day, however, these are adults, and they have to be responsible for their own behavior. If you’re receiving reports about the behavior of these adults from friends, I’d gently remind these friends that you can’t control another person’s actions. It may feel like it’s a reflection on you or your parenting, but it’s not. They own what they do. But, when they’re guests at your home, it will be helpful to verbalize expectations up front. It’s often easy to fall into old patterns, especially at a childhood home. But patterns don’t have to be set in stone. If you want help clearing the table, tell them, “We’re so happy you’re here. We want to have a gathering in which everyone is involved. We’ll serve and you clear. How’s that sound?” Political rants ruin holiday gatherings Dear Eric: With the holidays approaching, I’m facing a dilemma. Politically, I guess I’m a Libertarian because I am somewhere in the middle, not far left or right. That’s one reason I don’t like discussing politics, as most people who do are at one of the extremes. The other reason is it’s almost always a very negative narrative against the other side, rather than what they believe is positive about their own side. My dilemma is about Christmas. I’m from a very small family and have only a few cousins left. I’m invited each year to a cousin’s home for a lovely dinner party. I’m considering not going (i. e. staying home alone) this year because they are very liberal and very vocal about it. If I don’t chime right in with the Trump-bashing, which will be over the top this year, they accuse me of being a Trump supporter. (I have never voted for him.) I just don’t like the tone it sets at a festive time of year, and I choose not to participate. We’re getting older and it may be the last time I see some of them, but the political rants just squash the spirit of the season. I feel I can’t say anything because it’s their home and their party. How do you suggest I navigate this? No Grinches Dear No Grinches: While it’s true that it’s their home, as a guest and as a family member, you can ask for what you need in order to feel comfortable and welcome. Start with a phone call. Tell them you value them and want to spend time with them, but that you find that the political debate wears on you and detracts from the holiday. Don’t get into the who-said-what of it all. For the moment, let’s leave voting records out of it. This is a conversation about how to have a conversation. Ask them if they’d consider focusing on family, connectivity and celebration this year. Now, some families connect and celebrate by debating. And maybe everyone in your family is like this, save for you. It’s still possible to modulate. But it’s going to take a conscious awareness of the patterns they fall into and a mutual decision to try something new. Send questions to R. Eric Thomas at eric@askingericletter at rericthomas. com.

Gen Z-styled protests spread in Mexico, fueled by mayor’s murder
Thousands protested across Mexico on Saturday under the banner of “Generation Z,” denouncing rising violence after the public killing of an anti-crime mayor earlier this month. In Mexico City, a small group of hooded protesters tore down fences around the National Palace where President Claudia Sheinbaum lives, prompting a clash with riot police who deployed tear gas, according to Reuters witnesses.

McLaren issues apology to Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as the duo are disqualified from F1 Las Vegas GP
McLaren has issued an apology to both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri after the duo were disqualified from the F1 Las Vegas GP for excessive plank wear. The race had been a standard one for the team and the drivers, with Norris finishing second behind Max Verstappen and Piastri in fourth place. After the race, however, in the post-race scrutiny, both McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were found to have suffered from excessive plank wear that led to the duo being disqualified from the race. The result is a major blow for Norris, especially, who had emerged as the championship favorite after this race. If the original results had stayed, Lando Norris would be going into the F1 Qatar GP next race weekend 42 points ahead of rival Max Verstappen and 30 points clear of teammate Oscar Piastri. As it stands, the driver is only 24 points ahead of both Piastri and Verstappen. In the team’s press release, McLaren boss Andrea Stella issued an apology to the duo, as both were hampered in the title battle by the disqualification. He said, “During the race, both cars experienced unexpected, high levels of porpoising not seen in the Practice sessions, which led to excessive contact with the ground. We are investigating the reasons for this behaviour of the car, including the effect of accidental damage sustained by both cars, which we found after the race, and that led to an increase of movement of the floor.” He added, “As the FIA noted, the breach was unintentional, there was no deliberate attempt to circumvent the regulations, and mitigating circumstances also existed. We apologise to Lando and Oscar for the loss of points today, at a critical time in their Championship campaigns after two strong performances from them all weekend. Lando Norris on the McLaren’s double disqualification The disqualification severely hampers Lando Norris, as the driver almost had one hand on the trophy when he emerged in 2nd behind Max Verstappen. The driver had enough of a buffer that, unless he suffered a major incident, he could coast to the championship. Those dynamics have, however, changed now. Lando Norris’ lead over Max Verstappen is not too much, and the driver would have to be careful. In the team’s press release, the driver conceded that what’s done is done as the focus shifts to Qatar. He said, “It’s frustrating to lose so many points. As a team, we’re always pushing to find as much performance as we can, and we clearly didn’t get that balance right today. Nothing I can do will change that now, instead full focus switches to Qatar, where we’ll aim to go out and deliver the best possible performance in every session.” The next race in Qatar is certainly going to be interesting, as with two race weekends left, we have three drivers in contention for the championship. Something that hasn’t been the case since 2010.

Scientists discover light’s hidden magnetic power after 180 years
For nearly two centuries, scientists have believed that only the electric side of light played a role in certain magnetic effects. Now, a new study from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has turned that idea on its head. Researchers have discovered that the magnetic component of light also has a direct and powerful influence on matter in the well-known Faraday effect. This surprising finding opens the door to new advances in optics, data storage, and emerging quantum technologies. The Faraday effect was first discovered in 1845 by the British scientist Michael Faraday. It describes what happens when a beam of light passes through a material that is placed in a strong magnetic field. As the light travels through the material, its polarization, or the direction in which it vibrates, slowly rotates. For more than 180 years, this effect was explained only in terms of the light’s electric field interacting with charged particles inside the material. The weaker magnetic field that travels with light was considered too small to matter. Dr. Amir Capua and Benjamin Assouline, from the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, challenged this long-standing assumption. Their new study, published in the journal Scientific Reports, provides the first solid theoretical proof that the magnetic field of light contributes directly to the Faraday effect. In simple terms, light does not just shine on materials, it can also influence them magnetically. Light is made up of both electric and magnetic waves that move together through space. When a constant magnetic field is applied to a material and light passes through it, the light is “twisted” in a way that reveals the magnetic properties of that material. What Capua and Assouline found is that the tiny magnetic wave inside the light itself helps create this twisting motion. It acts on the spinning particles inside the material and produces a kind of magnetic push, known as a torque, similar to what a regular magnet would do. To test and measure this effect, the researchers focused on a special crystal called Terbium Gallium Garnet, or TGG. This material is commonly used in experiments involving the Faraday effect. Their calculations showed that the magnetic part of light is responsible for about 17 percent of the rotation seen in visible light. In the infrared range, its contribution becomes even more important, reaching up to 70 percent of the total effect. This discovery changes how scientists understand the interaction between light and matter. It suggests that light “talks” to materials in more ways than previously believed, using both its electric and magnetic components. The findings could lead to new technologies in spintronics, where the tiny spins of particles are used to store and process information, as well as in optical data storage and future quantum computing systems. By revealing the hidden magnetic influence of light, this study not only rewrites a chapter of physics history but also opens up exciting possibilities for the technologies of tomorrow.
