Mariah Carey celebrates legacy, future and Indonesia’s ‘Lambily’

It was approximately 8:15 p.m. on Saturday. The crowd at the majestic Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor, West Java, was already buzzing thanks to the electrifying performance of the opening act, Boyzlife.

Then, the lighting suddenly shifted. The air inside the stadium started vibrating. A grand presence soon emerged. The entire audience held their breath as the elusive chanteuse, Mariah Carey, graced the stage in a shimmering ensemble and exuded a natural charisma that reached all the way to the back row.

That exhilarating moment was merely one of many remarkable elements that made up the entirety of the concert, *Mariah Carey – The Celebration of Mimi*, organized by Color Asia Live.

When all was said and done, this landmark musical event served as a joyous celebration for both the record-breaking American singer-songwriter’s storied career and her loyal fans, collectively known as the Lambily, in Indonesia.

Split into four acts, the concert took the entire SICC down memory lane, filled with some of Carey’s greatest hits, while also simultaneously introducing what the future has in store courtesy of the legendary diva.

Bombay HC Restrains Use Of ‘Jio’ Trademark For Taxi Services, Grants Interim Relief To Reliance Industries

**Bombay High Court Grants Interim Injunction in Favor of Reliance Industries to Restrain Use of ‘JIO’ Trademark by Jiocabs**

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has granted an interim injunction in favor of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), restraining certain parties from using its registered ‘JIO’ trademark for taxi services being offered under the domain name www.jiocabs.com.

**Prima Facie Case Established**

Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan, on Tuesday, granted the interim protection after observing that Reliance had established a strong prima facie case. The court highlighted that continued use of the well-known brand by unauthorized parties could cause serious harm to Reliance’s goodwill.

“The continued usage of a well-known and protected brand name would indeed cause grave injury,” the court noted. It further added that, “considering the mending of ways by the Defendants, even the balance of convenience would be in favour of grant of the ad-interim relief.”

**Arguments Presented by Reliance**

Vinod Bhahat, advocate representing Reliance, argued that the company is the registered proprietor of the ‘JIO’ mark, which is protected across multiple classes. Reliance contended that the use of the mark ‘Jiocabs’ and the associated domain name amounted to trademark infringement and passing off.

The website and its promotional material allegedly used names, logos, and artistic elements identical or deceptively similar to Reliance’s registered marks.

**History and Evidence**

RIL informed the court that it had adopted the JIO mark in 2016, with registrations dating back to 2011 and 2012. The company described the mark as a “well-known trademark,” supported by extensive evidence including screenshots, WhatsApp conversations, and promotional images illustrating active misuse of its brand identity.

**Defendants’ Conduct Noted**

Although the defendants had altered some content after receiving a legal notice, Reliance submitted that they continued to hold and operate the disputed domain name. This, Reliance argued, perpetuated confusion among consumers.

The court noted that despite being served, the defendants had not entered an appearance. However, they acknowledged that the defendants appeared to have “mended their approach” by shifting to a new name, though the domain www.jiocabs.com remained active.

**Interim Relief Granted**

After considering the rival marks, labels, and the conduct of the parties, the court held that an urgent interim order was justified. The bench restrained the defendants from using the ‘JIO’ mark, the impugned domain name, or any logos, labels, or artwork identical or deceptively similar to Reliance’s trademarks or copyrighted material.

**Next Hearing**

The defendants have been permitted to file their affidavit in reply within four weeks. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on November 28, 2025.

Navi Mumbai Airport Inauguration Leaves Villagers Disappointed Over No D B Patil Naming Announcement

Villagers from Navi Mumbai and adjoining coastal districts have expressed deep disappointment following the inauguration of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made only passing references to the late farmer leader D. B. Patil, without officially announcing that the airport would be named after him.

Just before the ceremony, Dashrat Patil, President of the NMIA Kruti Samiti (All-Party Action Committee), had expressed optimism. “I am sure today is the day the airport will get its much-deserved name. Our hard work will not go waste,” he said.

### Hopes Dashed Despite PM and CM Mentions

However, during the inauguration, PM Modi merely stated, “Today I would also like to remember the great leader D. B. Patil, who toiled for farmers and remains an inspiration to all of us.” Similarly, Chief Minister Fadnavis acknowledged Patil’s contributions but stopped short of making any formal naming declaration.

“When Fadnavis called out D. B. Patil’s name, we were hopeful it was about the airport naming,” shared Dashrat Patil. “It was a huge disappointment. He had earlier assured us that the Prime Minister had agreed in principle, but nothing was mentioned today.”

The Kruti Samiti has announced plans to meet CM Fadnavis within the next ten days to seek documentary clarity on the airport naming process.

### Locals Threaten Political Action

According to Nilesh Patil, a member of the Action Committee representing project-affected persons (PAPs), the silence from the Prime Minister has triggered anger among locals. “We were all waiting to hear that the airport would be named after our leader. It’s really disappointing, and there will be repercussions,” he said.

Leaders of the committee and representatives of affected villages have hinted at intensifying their agitation and potentially taking decisive political steps ahead of the upcoming civic elections.

### Long-Standing Demand Across Coastal Maharashtra

The demand to name NMIA after D. B. Patil has been a decades-long movement, uniting villages from Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts. These communities are collectively represented by the D. B. Patil Navi Mumbai Airport Naming All-Party Action Committee.

A massive morcha (protest march) planned for October 6 was postponed after Chief Minister Fadnavis assured further talks.

“We would not let any flight take off if the naming is not done,” warned Dhanraj Mungaji from the committee. “It was a golden day for aviation, and today the announcement should have been made. We are extremely disappointed, but our fight will continue.”

The wealth beneath our soil should serve the Filipino people

MANILA, Philippines – Now that we have finally enacted the Enhanced Fiscal Regime for Large-Scale Metallic Mining (under Republic Act No. 12253), I want to explain why I fought so hard for one particular element of this law: transparency.

As governor of Albay, I stood firmly against irresponsible mining. I was a supporter of Alyansa…

Wyoming library director fired amid book dispute wins $700,000 settlement

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) —

Bhopal News: Traffic Fine Pile Up; E-Challans Worth Over ₹5 Crore Issued, Only ₹50 Lakh Paid So Far

**Bhopal’s Intelligent Traffic Management System Issues Thousands of E-Challans, but Fine Payments Remain Low**

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) in Bhopal continues to monitor traffic violations closely and issue e-challans regularly. However, despite the high number of fines being generated, the majority of offenders have yet to pay their dues.

According to data from the city traffic police, from January to September this year, a total of 1,54,500 e-challans were issued for various traffic violations, including red light jumping, not wearing helmets, over-speeding, and triple riding. Unfortunately, only 13,398 violators have cleared their fines so far.

Out of a total penalty amounting to Rs 5,33,02,100, just Rs 50,13,600 has been collected. This leaves approximately Rs 4.82 crore pending from 1,41,102 offenders.

### Most Common Violations

The data highlights that riding without a helmet remains the most frequent violation recorded by ITMS cameras. Red signal jumping is the second most common offense. Over-speeding, although a major cause of road accidents, accounts for comparatively fewer challans. Of the 3,759 over-speeding challans issued, only 760 fines have been paid.

Similarly, many two-wheelers carrying three riders have been fined, yet payment compliance in these cases also remains poor.

### Monthly Trends

When viewed month-wise, July saw the highest number of e-challans at 24,881. However, by the end of September, this number had dropped sharply to 7,179. In May, the total challans issued were 10,475.

### Enforcement vs. Compliance

Additional DCP (Traffic), Basant Kumar Kaul, acknowledged that while ITMS has been effective in identifying violators and issuing fines efficiently, ensuring payment recovery remains a challenge. He emphasized that the primary goal of e-challans is not just to collect fines but to promote responsible driving habits among citizens.

### Violation Breakdown

– Not wearing helmet: 1,29,137 challans
– Red light jumping: 16,898 challans
– Triple riding: 4,706 challans
– Over-speeding: 3,759 challans
