‘Dirty Mentality’: Mumbai Sessions Court Sentences 40-Year-Old Man To Life Imprisonment For Brutal Murder Of Wife After Jail Release

**Mumbai Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Wife’s Murder**

A sessions court in Mumbai has sentenced a 40-year-old man, Nasim Ansari, to life imprisonment for killing his wife in February 2020, just a day after his release from prison in a theft case.

**Quarrel Turns Fatal**

According to the prosecution, the incident took place on February 27, 2020, at their hut in Nagpada. Nasim Ansari attacked his wife, Yasminbano, following a quarrel. He accused her of not visiting him during his imprisonment and harbored suspicions about her fidelity.

**Neighbour Witnessed the Murder**

Earlier in the day, neighbours had intervened to stop Ansari from assaulting his wife. However, he returned at night and brutally smashed her head with a heavy stone. A neighbour witnessed the attack and promptly reported it to the police, which led to Ansari’s arrest.

**Prosecution Evidence Stood Strong**

Prosecutor Ramesh Siroya examined 11 witnesses during the trial, including the neighbour who witnessed the assault. The court found the witnesses’ testimonies to be ‘natural,’ with no apparent motive for false deposition, thereby giving their accounts high evidentiary value.

**Court’s Observations**

While awarding life imprisonment, the court condemned the underlying mindset behind the crime. It stated:

*“The incident is an example of dirty mentality and male dominance. Women are still treated like a commodity and not a human being. The accused killed his wife only because of an unfounded suspicion on her fidelity. No doubt, he deserves a deterrent sentence.”*

Shah Rukh Khan becomes world’s richest actor with $1.4 billion net worth, overtakes Taylor Swift

According to the Hurun India Rich List 2025, Shah Rukh Khan has officially joined the ranks of global billionaires with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion (Rs. 12,490 crores). This milestone not only cements his status as India’s richest actor but also ranks him above several international stars.

Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan (59), has joined the billionaire club for the first time with a wealth of INR 12,490 crores. In doing so, he now eclipses the fortunes of high-profile celebrities like Taylor Swift (at $1.3 billion), Arnold Schwarzenegger ($1.2 billion), Jerry Seinfeld ($1.2 billion), and Selena Gomez ($720 million).

Within India’s entertainment elite, the gap between Shah Rukh and his peers is growing significantly. His longtime business partner Juhi Chawla and her family rank next with a reported net worth of Rs. 7,790 crores, while Hrithik Roshan trails further behind at Rs. 2,160 crores.

The Hurun list notes that in the prior year, Shah Rukh’s net worth was pegged at $870 million, making this leap to $1.4 billion particularly notable. Analysts attribute this jump to his diversified investments ranging from his Red Chillies production and VFX ventures to real estate holdings in the Middle East and stakes in global cricket franchises.

As Shah Rukh Khan seizes the top global spot among actors by net worth, his financial clout now stands shoulder to shoulder with the biggest names in entertainment.

Auto driver arrested for murdering woman near Malwani church after money dispute

According to investigators, on the night of the crime, the victim was soliciting customers near a petrol pump on Marve Road. The accused, who had been in Mumbai for barely 20 days and was driving an auto-rickshaw without a valid license, approached her. After negotiating for Rs 600, he took her to a deserted stretch on Lagoon Road, where they attempted intercourse inside his auto-rickshaw. However, police sources said the accused had consumed alcohol and failed to perform. The victim insisted on leaving quickly, which triggered an argument. Enraged, the accused strangled her with her dupatta, killing her on the spot. He then drove the body in his rickshaw and abandoned it in a shed near Sawant Wadi, Malwani Church, before absconding. Singh originally hailed from a poverty-stricken family near Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where he lived with his elderly mother and younger brother, struggling to make ends meet. The investigation was particularly challenging as there were no CCTV cameras at the crime scene. Detectives backtracked footage from the petrol pump where the victim was last seen. They spotted her boarding a rickshaw marked with a tricolour stripe at the back. Though the number plate was unclear, scrutiny of older footage showed the same rickshaw regularly visited the pump for refuelling. This led officers to the rickshaws owner. During questioning, the owner revealed that the driver (the accused) had taken his savings of Rs 1, 700 and left in a hurry, claiming his brother in the village had done something wrong and an FIR was being registered. The lead, coupled with mobile CDR analysis and informer tips, enabled police to trace the accused to his native village near Agra, where he was arrested. He was later brought back to Mumbai for further proceedings, said an officer from Malwani police station. DCP Sandeep Jadhav (Zone 12) confirmed the arrest, stating to mid-day: We had formed 12 teams, each of which performed its task diligently. Their combined efforts helped us crack the case and nab the accused. He has been produced in court and remanded to six days of police custody.

Mumbai: Elderly Man Attempts Self-Immolation Outside Mantralaya Over Inaction On Complaints

Dramatic Incident Outside Mantralaya: Man Attempts Self-Immolation Over Inaction on Complaints

Mumbai witnessed a tense situation this evening when a man, aged between 65 and 70 years and identified as Prem Bajaj, attempted self-immolation outside the main gate of Mantralaya. The protest was sparked by his frustration over the authorities’ inaction regarding his repeated complaints.

Details of the Incident

According to the Marine Drive Police, the episode took place at approximately 4:55 pm. Bajaj, who resides at The Garden View Society, Sector 19, Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai, alleged that he has been enduring severe disturbance caused by a neighboring dry fruit factory that operates round the clock.

Despite lodging multiple complaints about the issue, Bajaj said no effective action was taken. This led him to resort to staging an extreme form of protest by attempting to set himself on fire.

Reports indicate that Bajaj poured a flammable substance on himself outside the Mantralaya gate. Fortunately, police officers on duty, including Sub-Inspector Nagaral and his team, acted swiftly to prevent the self-immolation attempt.

Prem Bajaj was immediately taken into custody and transported to Marine Drive Police Station in the Colaba Mobile-1 vehicle for further investigation. Authorities have confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.

Telangana HC Dismisses Private Parties Claim Over 36 Acres In Kondapur

Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka of the High Court recently dealt with appeals filed by the government in 2002 and 2003. These appeals sought to set aside a decree issued by the Civil Court of Rangareddy district, which had declared private parties as owners of three acres each.

The private parties asserted ownership and possession over the land, relying on pattas allegedly granted in 1961 under Rule 9(g) of the Laoni Rules, 1950. They sought a declaration of title, an injunction against interference, and the mutation of their names in the revenue records. The trial court accepted their case and ruled in their favor in April 2002.

On appeal, the state challenged the validity of the pattas, arguing that they were fabricated, temporary in nature, and issued contrary to revised assignment rules notified in GO Ms. No. 1406 of 1958, which superseded the earlier Laoni Rules. The government also highlighted GO Ms. No. 1122 of 1961, which imposed a ban on assignments within a 10-mile radius of Hyderabad, including the area of Kondapur.

Furthermore, the state contended that portions of the land had already been allotted to various institutions, complicating the claim of the private parties.

The High Court found several anomalies in the pattas presented by the private parties. These included discrepancies in dates and the use of terms that were absent from the prescribed format. The court ruled that the plaintiffs failed to establish valid title to the land, emphasizing that in suits for declaration, the burden of proof lies squarely on the claimants.

Additionally, the court rejected the private parties’ plea of adverse possession, holding that such a claim cannot coexist with their assertion of pattas as evidence of ownership. Justice Bheemapaka criticized the private parties for their contradictory stance—initially claiming the land was allotted under the Loani Rules and later asserting settled possession for 40 years.

The judge made it clear that the civil court, acting as a fact-finding body, could not presume possession in the absence of supporting documents. Concluding that the trial court had erred in presuming both title and possession, the High Court set aside the earlier decree and dismissed the suits.

The litigation was termed by the court as an attempt to encroach upon valuable government land, underscoring the importance of adhering to proper legal procedures and documentation in land disputes.

ED raids 6 Reliance Infrastructure-linked premises in Indore, Mumbai

**ED Raids 6 Reliance Infrastructure-Linked Premises in Indore and Mumbai**

*By Chanshimla Varah | Sep 30, 2025, 05:01 PM*

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at six locations connected to Anil Ambani’s Reliance Infrastructure in Mumbai and Indore on Tuesday. This move is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal remittances under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

### Investigation into Alleged Diversion of Loans

The ED’s probe focuses on several companies within the Ambani business empire, particularly Reliance Infrastructure. The company is accused of diverting loans worth over ₹17,000 crore. According to findings from a Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) report cited by the ED, Reliance Infrastructure allegedly routed funds to other entities within the Reliance Group through inter-corporate deposits (ICDs).

### Probe Expansion and Bank Summons

As the investigation intensifies, the ED has summoned 39 banks to provide explanations regarding their possible lapses in due diligence. The agency is examining whether these banks failed to flag suspicious loans or report irregularities to regulatory authorities when the borrowing entities began defaulting on repayments.

In August, the younger Ambani had appeared before the ED in connection with a money laundering probe related to multiple fraud cases involving several group companies.

### Reliance Group Denies Wrongdoing

The Reliance Group has denied any wrongdoing. In an official statement, the company described the allegation of diverting ₹10,000 crore to an undisclosed party as a decade-old matter, clarifying that its actual exposure was approximately ₹6,500 crore.

The statement further highlighted that through mandatory mediation proceedings conducted by a retired Supreme Court judge, and a mediation award filed before the Bombay High Court, Reliance Infrastructure has already settled to recover its full exposure of ₹6,500 crore.

This development marks a significant chapter in the ongoing scrutiny of financial dealings within one of India’s prominent business conglomerates. The investigation is expected to progress further in the coming weeks as the ED continues its probe.

Defamation case: Bathinda court directs Kangana to appear in October

The court has ordered Kangana Ranaut to appear physically on October 27. The summons will be served through the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).

### Background of the Case

The case dates back to January 2021, when Ranaut allegedly defamed an elderly woman farmer on social media during the farmers’ agitation.

### Allegations and Complainant

The defamation complaint was filed by Mahinder Kaur, a 73-year-old resident of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda. She alleged that Ranaut had defamed her in a social media post by mistakenly identifying her as Shaheen Bagh protester Bilkis Bano.

Ranaut’s tweet read, “She is the same daadi who featured in Time magazine for being the most powerful Indian. And she is available in 100.”

Feeling harmed by these remarks, Kaur filed the case on January 4, 2021, claiming damage to her reputation.

### Legal Proceedings

In February 2022, the Bathinda court issued summons to Ranaut. Following this, Ranaut approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking relief; however, her petition was dismissed.

She then moved the Supreme Court, which also refused to intervene and upheld the lower court’s order.

Ranaut maintained that she had only reposted a lawyer’s social media post without making any independent remarks. Despite this, the Bathinda court found sufficient grounds to continue the proceedings and rejected her plea for a virtual appearance.

### Supreme Court’s Comments

Earlier this month, Supreme Court Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta commented on the case during proceedings. The bench observed,

*”It was not a simple retweet. You have added spice. What this means is a subject matter of trial. Don’t ask us to comment on what is written in the tweet. It may prejudice your trial.”*

The judges noted that the Member of Parliament from Mandi had not merely shared the tweet but had added her own comment, which is central to the trial.

The upcoming court date will be critical in determining the next steps in this ongoing defamation case involving Kangana Ranaut.

Nashik: 55,000 Indigenous Trees Planted At Saptashrungi Fort Under Jai Hind Lok Movement

Under the guidance of former minister Balasaheb Thorat and former MLC Dr. Sudhir Tambe, an impressive initiative has been undertaken to plant 55,000 indigenous trees at Saptashrungi Fort, one of the three and a half Shakti Peethas of Maharashtra. This environmental service has been offered to Saptashrungi Mata on behalf of the Jai Hind Lok Movement during the auspicious occasion of Navratri.

In collaboration with the Maharashtra Government, Nashik SMBT Sevabhavi Trust, Gram Panchayat, and Jai Hind Lok Chalaval, around 55,000 indigenous trees have been planted at the fort located in Vani. Saptashrungi Fort draws a large crowd of devotees every year, with lakhs visiting for darshan during Navratri. To enrich this hilly area with greenery and promote environmental sustainability, Jai Hind Lok Chalaval spearheaded this large-scale tree plantation drive.

The responsibility for the upkeep of these trees has been entrusted to the SMBT Sevabhavi Trust. The plantation includes a variety of species such as pipal, umber, lemon, vad, as well as medicinal plants, carefully selected to suit the local ecosystem.

The Maharashtra Government Forest Department and Jai Hind Lok Movement have coordinated the scientific planting of these trees by digging trenches on all four sides of Saptashrungi Fort. To ensure adequate water supply, drip irrigation systems have been installed. Additionally, tree guards have been appointed through charitable efforts to safeguard the young plants. The Gram Panchayat has also extended significant cooperation throughout this endeavour.

Principal Dashrath Varpe, Coordinator of the Dandakaranya Abhiyan, highlighted the involvement of local citizens in planting and maintaining the trees, stating that this collective effort will greatly enhance the greenery of the region within the next two to three years.

Dr. Sudhir Tambe, Founder and Former MLC of Jai Hind, reflected on the historical roots of this movement, saying, “Freedom fighter Sahakar Maharshi Bhausaheb Thorat initiated the Dandakaranya Abhiyan, an environmental movement dedicated to protecting the living world. Under this campaign, crores of seeds have been sown on the barren hills of Sangamner taluka, resulting in the planting of lakhs of trees and a significant increase in the area’s greenery.”

He added, “Under the leadership of former minister Balasaheb Thorat, the environmental movement has expanded from the Sahyadri to the Satpura ranges. The recent tree plantation at Saptashrungi Fort, carried out under the initiative of SMBT Sevabhavi Trust, is a testament to this continued commitment.”

This collaborative effort beautifully blends cultural reverence with ecological responsibility, ensuring that the sacred landscape of Saptashrungi remains vibrant and thriving for generations to come.
