Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s 2017 wedding was a beautiful and intimate affair cherished by fans worldwide. However, behind the scenes, the couple faced unexpected challenges that nearly disrupted their special day. Vishal Punjabi, famously known as The Wedding Filmer, recently revealed the untold story of how heavy rain forced a last-minute venue change, causing chaos for the entire wedding planning team.

### The Wedding Chaos: Rain Forces Last-Minute Venue Shift

In an exclusive interview with Adhunika Singh on her YouTube channel, Vishal Punjabi disclosed that rain rained out the original wedding plan, compelling the organizers to move the mandap location unexpectedly. Punjabi shared, “Virat and Anushka’s wedding was rained out. They shifted the location at the last minute. Devika Narain didn’t sleep all night.”

Devika Narain, the wedding planner, worked tirelessly overnight to manage the sudden shift. Despite the chaos, both Anushka and Virat fully trusted Narain’s expertise and taste to keep the event flawless.

### Behind the Scenes: A Secretive and Intimate Celebration

Interestingly, Punjabi revealed that he wasn’t informed about the identity of the wedding couple until he arrived at the venue. “It was all kept under wraps. But you kind of figure out that it might be them. They trusted their planners, who trusted us,” he said. “It was a very small wedding, and it felt like everyone was together.”

### A Unique Experience: Spirituality and Love in the Air

Reflecting on his experience filming the wedding, Punjabi remarked, “They were really nice to me, they were really kind to me. They gave me space. I felt a certain level of Sufism at the wedding. There was a divine love for God’s spirituality and for each other. And it felt divine.”

### The Wedding Setting: A Close-Knit Gathering in Tuscany

In an earlier podcast interview with Shivani Pau, Punjabi spoke about the wedding’s cozy and intimate nature. “A small gathering in Tuscany is doable. That’s what Virat Kohli did. Cricket is a religion in India, and he’s a god. He and Anushka got married in Tuscany. It was really beautiful.”

He added, “The closest family and friends—only 40 of them, including mum, dad, makeup artists, and us. They smashed the wedding.”

### The Couple’s Journey: From Private Romance to Family Life

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli first met in 2013 during the shooting of a television commercial. Though their romance blossomed quickly, they kept their relationship private. The couple married in 2017 in an intimate ceremony in Italy.

Since then, their family has grown with the arrival of their daughter, Vamika, born in January 2021, and their son, Akaay, born in 2024.

### Vishal Punjabi’s Notable Work

Vishal Punjabi has also filmed weddings for other prominent couples, including Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, as well as Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, earning a reputation as one of the most sought-after wedding filmmakers in the industry.

This inside story highlights how, despite unforeseen challenges, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, spirituality, and togetherness — a day to remember for everyone involved.

**Shreyas Iyer Becomes India’s New Vice-Captain in ODIs: Key Stats**

*By Gaurav Tripathi | October 4, 2025*

In a significant leadership reshuffle, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Shubman Gill as the new captain of the Indian ODI team, taking over from Rohit Sharma. Alongside this change, Shreyas Iyer has been named the vice-captain for the ODI format, chosen ahead of contenders like KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah.

### Iyer’s Role in the Leadership Group

Shreyas Iyer’s appointment as vice-captain formally inducts him into the leadership group for India’s white-ball cricket. Although he had previously served as a stand-in leader, this new role entrusts him with a key responsibility to assist Shubman Gill in leading the team during future 50-over matches. Iyer’s maiden leadership assignment in an official capacity will begin with the upcoming ODI series against Australia, starting on October 19.

### Recent Performances Boost Iyer’s Case

Iyer’s recent form, particularly in India’s successful Champions Trophy campaign earlier this year, significantly strengthened his claim for the vice-captaincy. He amassed 243 runs in five matches at an impressive average of 48.60, including two fifties. Although his strike rate of 79.41 was on the lower side, it reflected the challenging batting conditions in Dubai, where matches saw modest totals. Notably, Iyer was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, behind New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra who scored 263 runs.

### Stellar Numbers in ODIs

This year, Iyer has been in exceptional form across eight ODI matches, accumulating 424 runs at an average of 53.00, with four half-centuries. Overall, in his ODI career spanning 70 games, he has scored 2,845 runs at an average of 48.22 and a strike rate of 100. His tally includes five centuries and 22 fifties, underscoring his consistency and class in the format.

### Impressive Record in ICC ODI Events

Iyer’s performance on the big stage has been remarkable. In the 2023 Cricket World Cup, he scored 530 runs, finishing as the tournament’s seventh-highest run-scorer with an average of 66.25 and a strike rate of 113.24. He became the first middle-order batsman to cross 500 runs in a single World Cup edition. Adding his Champions Trophy 2025 exploits, Iyer has accumulated 773 runs in 16 ICC ODI matches, averaging 59.46, including five fifties and two centuries.

### IPL 2025 Heroics

Apart from his international performances, Iyer led Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final as captain. He enjoyed a stellar season with the bat, scoring 604 runs at an average of 50.33. His campaign featured six half-centuries and a remarkable strike rate of 175.07. Iyer also smashed 39 sixes during the season—the highest by any captain in a single IPL edition—highlighting his aggressive yet consistent batting style.

With his impressive track record and leadership qualities, Shreyas Iyer now embarks on a new chapter as India’s ODI vice-captain, poised to play a pivotal role alongside Shubman Gill in shaping the future of Indian white-ball cricket.

**Rain Forces Last-Minute Venue Shift**

In an exclusive interview with Adhunika Singh on her YouTube channel, Punjabi revealed details of the wedding day drama. The wedding was a very private affair with only close family and friends present. “They trusted their planners, who trusted us. It was a very small wedding, and it felt like everyone was together.”

**A Divine Experience**

Punjabi also reflected on his experience capturing the wedding memories. “They were really nice to me, very kind. They gave me space. I felt a certain level of Sufism at the wedding. There was a divine love for God’s spirituality and for each other. It felt divine,” he described.

Alongside this change, Shreyas Iyer has been named the vice-captain for One Day Internationals, selected ahead of prominent players like KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah.

### Shreyas Iyer’s Role in the Leadership Group

Iyer’s elevation to vice-captain marks his formal induction into the leadership group for India’s white-ball cricket. While he had previously been part of this elite group on a stand-in basis, his new appointment signals the trust placed in him by the team management. With Gill at the helm, Iyer will play a crucial role in supporting the captain in future 50-over matches.

The upcoming ODI series against Australia, starting October 19, will mark Iyer’s first major leadership assignment representing India.

### Recent Performances Bolstering Iyer’s Case

Iyer’s recent form, especially during India’s victorious Champions Trophy campaign earlier this year, played a pivotal role in boosting his claim for the vice-captaincy. He accumulated 243 runs in five matches at an average of 48.60, including two half-centuries. Although his strike rate (79.41) was on the lower side, conditions in Dubai were challenging, with no match seeing scores above 270.

With his exploits in the 2025 Champions Trophy, Iyer has now scored 773 runs across 16 ICC ODI matches, maintaining an average of 59.46. This includes five fifties and two centuries.

### Leadership in IPL 2025

Shreyas Iyer also demonstrated strong leadership in the IPL 2025 season by leading Punjab Kings to the final. The campaign was remarkable for Iyer with the bat, as he piled up 604 runs at an average of 50.33, including six half-centuries. He also struck 39 sixes—the most by any captain in a single IPL edition. His strike rate of 175.07 ranked third among batsmen scoring 600-plus runs that season.

Party’s response on EC final voter list soon: Chakravarty

**Congress to Issue Detailed Feedback on Bihar Voter List Amid Data Format Challenges**

NEW DELHI: Days after the Election Commission of India (EC) published the final voter list for the upcoming Bihar polls, the Congress party has announced that it will soon release a detailed feedback report. The task involves an arduous effort to download and analyze over 90,000 PDF files containing the voter list.

Praveen Chakravarty, Chairman of the AICC Data Analytics Department, informed this newspaper that the party’s data analytics team, along with EAGLE—the committee set up to monitor elections—has been rigorously working on the data.

“The final voter list is available only in PDF format, and unfortunately, these are scanned images rather than machine-readable digital text. The entire list runs into more than 90,000 pages. We have managed to download the PDFs, and the rest of the work remains,” Chakravarty said.

Opposition parties, including Congress, have criticized the Election Commission’s decision to replace the machine-readable draft voter lists with scanned image PDFs during this intensive revision exercise. Congress has been demanding access to the voter list in a machine-readable format, arguing that it would help identify and flag discrepancies more effectively.

However, citing a 2019 Supreme Court judgment, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the voter list in machine-readable format cannot be shared with political parties due to concerns that it could be edited and misused.

The final voter list shows a reduction of nearly 47 lakh electors, bringing the total number down to 7.42 crore from 7.89 crore after the special intensive review of electoral rolls.

In response, CPI (ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said on Friday that the Opposition may approach the Supreme Court if the Election Commission fails to address the alleged discrepancies in the final voter list.

Maharashtra Introduces Digital ‘E-Bond’ System To Modernise Import-Export Trade

**Maharashtra Introduces Historic ‘E-Bond’ System to Modernise Trade**

The Maharashtra government has taken a significant step towards modernising trade by replacing traditional paper bonds with a fully digital ‘E-Bond’ system for import-export transactions. With this reform, Maharashtra becomes the sixteenth state in India to introduce this facility, aimed at easing business operations and enhancing transparency in financial dealings.

### Boost for Trade and Industry

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule highlighted the initiative as a major relief for the state’s business and industrial sectors. Currently, Maharashtra issues nearly 3,000 to 4,000 bonds monthly, amounting to over 40,000 bonds annually for import-export activities.

“Introducing e-bonds will transform these large-scale financial transactions. While this may appear as a small procedural change, it represents an important turning point for Maharashtra’s economy,” said Bawankule.

### Simplifying Transactions and Strengthening Transparency

The new system was launched at Mantralaya, where Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, Ravindra Binwade, explained the e-bond mechanism. Officials noted that this move will simplify bond issuance at customs offices, increase efficiency in international trade, and eliminate the need for paper stamp bonds previously issued in denominations such as Rs 500.

The shift to digital bonds is expected to:

– Reduce paper usage and contribute to environmental protection
– Strengthen transparency and reduce revenue leakage
– Ensure more funds flow into the state treasury

### Maharashtra’s Push for Ease of Doing Business

The government expressed confidence that adopting a digital-first approach in revenue administration will improve Maharashtra’s Ease of Doing Business rankings.

“This initiative will accelerate trade processes and push Maharashtra’s economy forward. It is not just about convenience but also about transparency and modernisation,” added Bawankule.

With the introduction of the e-bond system, Maharashtra is poised to lead in digital trade facilitation, setting a benchmark for other states to follow.

2nd Unofficial ODI: Tilak Varma slams 94 versus Australia A

**2nd Unofficial ODI: Tilak Varma Slams 94 Against Australia A**

*By Rajdeep Saha | Oct 03, 2025, 06:23 PM*

Tilak Varma once again proved his class for India A in the 2nd unofficial ODI against Australia A at Green Park, Kanpur. Despite India A being bowled out for 246 in 45.5 overs, Varma was the standout performer with a brilliant knock of 94 runs off 122 balls.

Varma’s innings featured 5 fours and 4 sixes, showcasing a blend of elegance and power. This impressive knock was part of a crucial 101-run partnership with Riyan Parag that steadied the Indian innings after early setbacks.

Playing his 40th List A match, Varma has now accumulated 1,642 runs at an average of over 46. The 94-run effort marked his 10th fifty and added to his tally of 5 centuries in List A cricket, highlighting his consistent form and growing stature.

India A’s innings began shakily, losing early wickets to find themselves reeling at 17 for 3. Varma came in at 0/1 and took charge, anchoring the innings even as wickets fell at the other end. After Parag’s dismissal, Varma held firm, guiding the innings with maturity and resilience.

Ultimately, Varma was the last India A batsman to fall, dismissed for 94 by Jack Edwards. His knock, however, remains a significant highlight in India A’s performance against a competitive Australia A side.
